I am so thankful for daylight savings. I got to work at 7:30 this morning! My goal is to work a 7:30-4:30 schedule every day so I can get KJ home by 5:30 and have more time together. I hope I can keep this up!
YESSSSS @libberluru, it rhymes with spam! (this is where my DH and I would high 5 and shout "word play club!" when we get a good play on words or pun. we are VERY cool).
Also this was my second concert ever, so my dad took me and 2 girl friends. Talk about an awkward song to sing along to next to your pops.
I would like to take back my "fared well physically" statement from yesterday. Maybe a 5 hour car ride filled with champagne 1 hour after finishing wasn't the best recovery strategy. It felt so right though...
I really miss the 90s tradition of the baritone spoken word monologue in the middle of the song. Boyz II Men had that shit locked up.
Sometimes my husband will make up a song and sing a few lines and break into a monologue starting with "gurrrrl, have I told you..." It makes me laugh every time. This is usually when we are brushing teeth for bedtime and he's hoping to get laid with humor and Boyz to Men appeal. Again, we are very cool.
I forgot my ballot at home. I absentee vote and it has to get mailed by tomorrow. Oh well, I'll just work on it tonight after the kids are asleep. DH will get lazy about his and ask to copy off mine, I'm sure.
Today's head to head step challenge puts me up against @workinit. I could use this as inspiration to really get moving, but more likely I'll just throw in the towel and lay around on my office couch today doing work with my feet up. The plan was to walk 2.5 miles round trip to Whole Foods to grab lunch, but I think the new plan is to drive my car to some place that serves fried chicken. #lazy
We are borrowing my mom's house today while I get some work done on my car (we live out of town so it's easier to use her house as a home base on days like this). She is at work so I'm here alone with M. I honestly do not know how she handles this when she has M over for the day or overnight. My mom is way more overprotective than me, so I know she's watching to ensure she doesn't get into anything unsafe, but no cabinets lock. There's stuff everywhere that she shouldn't be getting into, but is. Climbing everywhere, it's exhausting! I didn't think I did much babyproofing but I guess I did just enough to save my sanity! This is crazy!
Brag time! The last month I have been working insane hours, like 13-14 hr days on average. Most of it was on these two filings that we had to get in and get approved and I was in charge of. They are two of the first major filings I'm signing off on myself, and there's literally no one else above me involved at all. So I've been really stressing because the guy reviewing the filings has been tough and keeps making me run in circles to satisfy his concerns.
Last week they got approved!!! And one of my good friends at work was at a conference with the reviewer (who is one of the top top guys at the Office in this state) and she said when she was talking to him he said my filings were good, and that they were much better than they've seen for others.
This is legit a big deal! Our company has had several filings go in that are very similar and all of us have had issues getting them approved. I'm the most junior person signing these filings but I got official approval first and now he said mine were much better AND our year end review is coming up in the next few weeks, so the timing couldn't possibly have been better.
AND I got another filing submitted last week, and FINALLY I have breathing room at work. Yay for a 40 hour work week!
PLUS I have something I can specifically point to when we discuss my "alternative schedule" -- I can say, look, I worked the alternative schedule throughout this whole filing process, and my work was still superior and my communication with clients and regulators was still superior. There was no loss in quality or productivity.
@mcbush It went pretty well, all things considering. She did great at dinner and when we were done it was about 8, so about 30 minutes after her bedtime, and about 1.5 hrs after what she thinks is her bedtime because of DST. We decided to try to go get gelato and she was ok for the first 15 minutes but then LOST it. We all ended up leaving pretty quickly, but it was ok, because our guests wanted to go try drinks at this other place, so we dropped them off there and we headed home.
I call it a success though, because it was a bit of a stretch to hope she'd make it through gelato too. Maybe if we'd actually given her some gelato she'd have been happier, but H & I decided not to eat any after the huge dinner we'd had.
@steamboat123 Yes, state filings. We kind of specialize in one of the most difficult states, so we're used to it. But these particular types of filings have been even more challenging lately. I've literally had a headache since early September, when I was on vacation, and got the request from our client to get these filings done and approved by the end of Oct, a very challenging task.
Congrats @steamboat123 and @numbersgirl08 on your work successes!!! @melOHdy I hope the rest of the week goes better. Good luck with the move this weekend!
Alex lost his car keys almost 2 weeks ago. I have torn this house apart looking for them and they are no where to be found. I used to be able to walk up to his work to get the car if I needed it but now that he has my keys I've been stuck at the house. Where did these damn keys go?!
I did not have high expectations for today's interview. Went to it because I thought "why not?" and was happy to have practice for tomorrow's interview. She sold me so hard on this company, although it might be that I'm easy to please. I was sold with "we start at 3-weeks vacation", quarterly bonuses, paid days off when they close for winter holiday (I currently get this as forced non-paid time off), RRSP matching, I was trying not to drool :-O . I'm excited to see if I get a call back.

M likes to throw anything and everything in the trash. Maybe G took them?
This was going to be suggestion too. We have lost numerous toys and a Tervis lid because of it. Hope you find them.
Great news @momofcatan !!! I hope you get a call back too. If nothing else it will give you more options. But those sound like great incentives! Do they also have a pretty decent benefits package? With my H's recent job changes we've caught glimpses of the drastic differences in benefits at different companies. Some of those can be huge incentives too!

He can't get to the trash but I'm sure he took them and his them somewhere I just can't figure out where. He lost his bubble puppy toy and I looked all over for it. He ended up finding it a few days later. But the keys are still gone.
My money would be on G too @ColieAnn31. But my H lost his main set of truck keys this summer. We searched high and low, assumed M hid them somewhere and never found them. Until H drove over them with the quad this fall while we were cleaning up the yard/getting everything ready for winter. So H was def the one who dropped/lost them, and then he was the one who destroyed them beyond use. Hope you find yours!! Have you called the dealership to see how much a new set would cost? If it isn't keyless they usually aren't too pricy to replace.

She described the extended health benefits as standard but I would ask to see a copy if I get a call back. Also there is an employee contribution to it (20%/80% employer) so I would need to see what that came out to. The RRSP matching is 1% of income, which is better than nothing.
@steamboat123 I don't know if I rocked it, but I think I did OK. I feel like I didn't quite sell myself enough (people are always telling me how much they love working with me, how do I say that in an interview??) and spoke too much about the type of environment I like to work in, but those are the questions she was asking.
@ColieAnn31 can alex give you your keys when you get there or are you unable to lock the house?
I hope you find his keys!
He drives the car to the garage he works out of. He has a work vehicle he drives once he gets up there and isn't back at the garage until it's time to go home. It's been a pain in the butt. He'll probably just need to order a new key and fob tomorrow.
@ColieAnn31 if you can walk there to get the car, why can't he walk there to get his work vehicle leaving you with the car/keys?
Because he's usually running late to work lol
You really are too nice to him. If he was the one who lost the keys and it's becoming a hassle for you he needs to learn to better manage his time. Instead of you sacrificing constantly to keep him happy. I want the best for you and it just seems like every time you post about him all it shows is how selfish he is.
I just got a text from daycare. Miss A bit a friend during circle time. She has never bitten before. I know it's normal toddler behavior but I feel bad.
I had to sign an injury report a while back about my girl being bitten. It was difficult for me to be mad at the biter, because it turns out that my girl was reaching for that baby's food. You don't mess with another child's food.
RealTalk. What do you eat cookie butter on, and which flavor is the best? I have come thisclose to buying it 3 times but couldn't decide on a flavor and didn't know what the best vehicle was, and those jars are way bigger than I'm comfortable with. Because I'm totally going to eat all of it immediately. And secretly. I don't need that kind of judgement.
I just purged my closet- 7 bags to send to goodwill, and another space bag full of maternity clothes that I put in storage. My closet looks bare now- but in a good way. Man, I LOVE a good purge!
Blah, my kid took great naps all weekend when there were people around to help when he was up, now that it's just the 2 of us and I have a million things to do, one crappy 40 minute nap. Add to that te fact that I've been up since 3:30 this morning, and I am a mess. Is it beer o'clock yet?
Re: Pour the wine, light the fire... Girl your wish is my com-spam
