Just finished raking the yard. I think that's enough activity and accomplishment for one day. I even have a blister to show for it.
What's the deal with taking a 1 year old trick or treating? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it, and plan to take baby next year, but was wondering...do neighbors judge you? I mean, it's not like the 1 year old is eating the candy, so basically it's adults getting free candy from other adults.
38 weeks today and I think I am the lone survivor on team "baby can stay in there as long as they like". I'm used to being uncomfortable and pregnant, I can deal. I don't know what to do with a baby though, yikes.
Add me to that team too! I'm due November 8th and I would be more than happy if he went on that day or baked a little longer, but I really hope he stays put at least until his due date! I haven't been having contractions (that I notice) so I'm pretty sure he's content where he is. Really I'd just like a full week off of work before he arrives - 3 more days until my Maternity Leave starts!!!
I'm also on that team...37 week today and am starting to feel some pressure lower down but nothing else... I'm all ready for this LO to come 11/19 like planned lol...Don't get me wrong I would love to meet munchkin but am just not fully ready for that either..
So far everything looks good on the NST's. My OB doesn't do cervical checks so I don't know any of that.. In the next week or two we're going to discuss about when baby should come. My sugars have been really good so right now they don't think that I need to be induced early and are ready for my body to decide when ..as long as it's before or on my due date.. They won't let me go much after that. Also GBS came back negative...I was soo happy that I finally passed something since I failed the glucose and had to get iron IV's..I felt that I accomplished something lol
~Nov14 Moms November Siggy Challenge: CELEBRATION!! ~
The weather here is so gross! I want to get out and go walk. I guess I will bounce on my ball! Which reminds me, I told the nanny girl yesterday that I was so ready for Beckham to be here. Her response, "Me too! Grab your ball and bounce on it all day. Maybe he will pop out." she is 4. I literally died laughing.
@Wolkie ugh....thats a tough decision. I can't offer any advice since I have no experience. Hopefully someone that has been in labor and ended up with a c section in the end can help. Not sure what I would do if I were in your shoes.

Just finished raking the yard. I think that's enough activity and accomplishment for one day. I even have a blister to show for it.

Even if they do oh well. I took Addison wheb she was little. Just went earlier before it got too crazy. Some houses actaully had board books for her age. I loved that.
This is cute! But my first thought was "but what about my candy?" Then I realized how selfish that sounds. Which led into me beating myself up for being a bad mom already. Stupid hormones.
@Wolkie --what if you let yourself go into labor, but don't "actually" labor? YKWIM?! (Unless you end up going reallllllly fast!) Does that make any sense? Let your body decide when it's time and then "get in there"? That's kind of what happened with my twins--I was 6cm (though I couldn't feel my contractions); I went into my doctor who promptly sent me to the hospital and my girls were born 2 hours later (they would have been born sooner, but there was already a mom in the OR, so I had to wait my turn!). I guess that's what I would do. I have a RCS and I'm secretly hoping to go into labor a day or two before that.
We didn't take DS last year at 14months trick or treating. It was on a Thursday night and pretty cold out so we opted out. This year he is more aware and he loves knocking on doors, he walks around the house closing doors and then just standing there knocking on them so I think he will have more fun doing that then intrest in the candy. At Zoo Boo he would stick his bag out and say treat, we couldn't get the trick out of him but he did pretty good. And we let him have a piece of his candy after lunch and dinner as a treat. Also we are taking DS to a "rich" neighborhood just because it is where 90% of the members live from my husbands golf course and they all want to see DS all dressed up.
I think people who take the younger ones out is more about getting to dress them up and just having those memories of their first halloween etc., not so much getting candy. We dressed DS up for his first 2 halloweens (2 months old and 14months old) for events other than trick or treat but I don't see anything wrong with parenta doing so for trick or treat if they want to. Better than the 15-16yr olds that come up to your door and aren't even dressed up.
I'm kind of torn between the camp of wanting LO to stay on the inside a little longer because I have NO clue what to do with a baby. But on the other hand, I've been checked out of work for weeks (especially because what little work I have to do each day is now being done by my replacement so I have nothing to do except be on TB and FB lol). I'm waiting until after my appointment today to even buy Halloween candy because my fingers (and toes) are crossed with hopes I won't even be home to pass out Halloween candy...and I don't want to come home to it all after delivery either because then I'll just "have to" eat it all.
I just want to see my sweet little boy, really. But if I didn't have to work anymore, I'd allow him to stay in one more week )
@Wolkie I'm a planner so for me, I'd set the date and go. Especially after reading about your DHs job. I hope sleeping on it helps!
I have an induction date scheduled for Nov. 14th and honestly, aside from wanting to see LOs face and starting maternity leave, I'd rather wait until that date so that I have a plan. The uncertainty of labor freaks me out.
@Wolkie--oh man, yeah that's tough. The type A personality in me is loving the fact that I have my date set (so much so when I started having contractions the other night was the first time I thought to myself, "oh shit, this baby might come before the 11th"), but the other part wants things to happen on their own. Oh & I totally see what you mean with your DH. That would be stressful since he's far away.
Yah, sleep on it....no good answer here. Sorry, mama....
..and yah, you better start searching for the "angle of the vagina" post, maybe that will give you some clearer answers! :P
Just ordered a Dr. Browns formula mixer pitcher and some formula dispensers from Amazon. Not sure how much I will use the pitcher.....but people seem to swear by it and it was only $13, so why not?
Wasn't sure which formula dispenser to try....I got 3 different ones....I figure between 2 diaper bags and the overnight feedings, I will make use of them all.
Everything together cost me a whopping $30. I love Amazon.

Random...for the past hour or so, I feel like something is leaking out of me. Whether I'm standing or sitting I feel it. I've gone to the bathroom once to check my underwear and I don't see anything. But I'm still feeling it. WTH?

That has been me today. Except that I am a little damp, like sweaty or something, not enough to make a panty liner wet.
I don't know what it is, and I am not so sure I want to.
@lovebuggies1 Be careful, wine is dangerous! We spend waayy too much money on it, and once you're hooked, there's nothing you can do. On a positive note, I don't spend anything on beer or liquor. We have a line item in our budget for wine and my hubby keeps telling people that our wine spend has gone up during my pregnancy because I miss it so much that I keep subscribing to more wine clubs. Sad but true. I hope you have a good bottle picked out for post-delivery!
Had my appt and I'm now about 4 cm's (up from 3 last week) which is surprising since I haven't had more than 2 or 3 contractions. Other than that baby seems pretty comfy. (OB didn't mention effacement and I didn't ask). Pretty clear I can ask to be induced whenever I want, though. She seemed a little surprised that I didn't want to yet. As much as I want this baby out, right now I want to avoid inducement more. I may change my mind by next week, but for now I would prefer discomfort if it means going on my own.
Putting on Curious George for DD2 and heading to stretch out on the bed because I feel like crap. Don't feel one bit guilty, either.

I'm taking N trick or treating and she's only 16 months. I'll let her eat (most, barring toffees and hard candies) the candy too. We aren't going far. Just the area that my inlaws live in. I think she will have a blast and will be so cute in her costume.
Man, N14 is all about cervix stats today. Sorry little guy that I didn't want to find out about you yesterday, hope you aren't feeling left out!
With minimal help from me my husband has been on a freezer food nesting spree today. 1 large pan of shephers pie, 1 crockpot turkey chili prepped, and 2 chicken pot pies. And there are still two pasta dishes to go!This is kind of makes up a little for the "massage" that I know is coming tonight.
Random question, does anyone have seat covers on their car where they are installing a car seat base? Husband has these sheepskin ones on the back bench seats and I'm convinced they are why the settings won't stay tight enough. The "tension sensor" only stays in the green for a few days before it loosens up and I'm thinking it could be because of the extra fluff? Or is it normal to have to re-tighten and eventually things will settle after a few weeks?
I would take the covers off of the seat if you can. I never had to readjust the tightness of the straps with my carseat base. But it also varies for people based on seat shape I think, so I don't know. But unless you need them on for some reason, I would maybe consider taking them off and seeing if that helps?
I really want Halloween candy.. But I also don't want to go to store to get it. I'm being extra lazy the past few days... Wonder if that means anything lol?!
I've been eating our stash of Halloween candy. And I really need to stop because according to our neighbor, a bunch of "poor" kids come here to trick or treat (apartments nearby). My neighbor was acting like this was a bad thing kind of like that article, but I'm actually excited because I've never lived somewhere where we even had trick or treat (mostly apartments, rural settings, college towns etc.) However, since it looks like I'm getting the membrane sweep Friday AM, who knows what that night will entail...
Sorry - I'm a mobile user & not the most Bump adept - can't get my phone to quote properly!
@LongIslandMama1114 - I had the same issue yesterday. I happened to have my 36 week appointment today and mentioned it to the midwife. They checked to see if it was amniotic fluid, it wasn't, it seems to be increased discharge that happens when your cervix starts to thin. According to my midwife, I'm a "loose 1cm, 50% effaced". She's not concerned about the leaking feeling, she said if it's a gush of fluid to call the office and be seen.
I'd call your OB or midwife and just let them know what's going on, just in case you need to be checked out! Good luck!
It feels like the baby's head is literally pushing on my pelvic bones. It is so uncomfortable to move. Those dealing with this feeling for a while now- you ladies are champs. I am so not a fan.
So this is a really random question for the random thread! Any STMs that had a C-section last time remember getting gas pains in your shoulders? As I'm finally un-burying my head from the sand that this Child is indeed coming within the next two weeks, I remember how painful that was after I had the girls. Is there anything I can do to avoid it? Or is it pretty much inevitable?
@Econosaurus - Lady, you are cracking me up with your "special massage" references! ) I am truly interested in how it goes tonight, you'll have to do a quick check in letting us know how your vagina feels
@FhSTAR81 - looks great! I don't know where you get the energy to do everything you do on a daily basis. I can barely find the energy to vacuum right now.
@kyliedaniellexx - I hate it when people do that! I am a planner, I need a plan. When people don't go by said plan I get all kinds of ragey. Why say basement if you didn't mean basement, huh??? I hope you find a good place for baby's stuff.
I am crampy today. Don't see the doc till Monday but I would be interested in what my cervical stats are lol. I have my first NST test tomorrow. Not really sure what to expect. GD is a biatch.
@silverwings72 I have had a couple NST. They aren't bad for me. I sit inthis recliningchair, and the hook up a round thing to listen tothe heartbeat and another round thing to monitor contractions. If there is enough baby movement and heart looks good, I only have to be on for 20 minutes.
Someone else is doing them too, and keeps talking about laying on a table, so hopefully you don't have to do that.
Had my u/s this morning. Fluid is good and baby is 7lbs 1oz. Any hopes of getting this show on the road are shot. We are very thankful there is nothing worrisome going on. I'll be 39 weeks on Saturday.... Hoping she decides to make an appearance soon!
@Emnob28 It's from Yarra Yering in the Yarra Valley north of Melbourne. It's all red blends and pinot though. I love semillon, particularly the sauv/sem blends, but we don't belong to any wineries in Hunter Valley. We do still have some Meerea Park, Scarborough and Brokenwood downstairs from our tastings though!
Definitely convince your MIL to bring some back! We brought about 8 cases back on the plane with us and sailed through customs. Evidently they're less likely to give you a hard time if it's mixed cases (vs. all the same) because they think mixed means you aren't reselling it.
The drawback of having your mother buy it though is that then she has to pay the Australian tax, whereas because YY is shipping directly to us, we don't have to pay the tax, which reduces the cost by about 25%.
So I'm sitting in the waiting room at my OB. I just had my growth sono. Baby is now measuring 7lbs 5oz which is great. But he wasn't moving. She was bouncing my belly and making roll from side to side and nothing. His heart beat is good, apparently, because she didn't mention it wasn't. But now I'm back in the waiting room...waiting. I always get a sono and NST so I'm waiting for the NST no movements and you're gonna make me wait how long? Ugh
@FhSTAR81 ---ugh, not what I wanted to hear!! Oh well, guess it comes with the territory. Btw, love the trunk--yah, where the heck do you find your energy?!
@kyliedaniellexx -- it's not a pleasant feeling. I had no idea what what going on/why I had should pain afterwards. I kept telling my DH that 'I had a runners cramp in my shoulder' because I couldn't explain what I was feeling! The nurse finally explained. It sucked.
And I'm so sorry about the living situation! I would be freaking the F out! :-(
Had my first cervical check today. That was interesting. I think she may have touched my tonsils. I'm 2 cm and apparently my cervix is soft whatever that means. She also said that she has a hard time resisting getting things going while she's in there. WTF? And now I'm bleeding.
@kyliedaniellexx that's really annoying. You guys should have a room for LO, and that would piss me off that he said he was moving into the basement and decided on the spare room instead. Nice to have some notice first!
@Maelara what's N's costume? She's going to be too cute!
@silverwings72 I had an NST and it was no biggie. I had to sit up in a hospital bed for 30 minutes while hooked up the the monitors. It was kind of neat!

@econosaurus - I'm part of team babies can stay in a bit longer. I just sit and think about how nice it is to not have to feed and change these babies while they're on the inside...yeah, I'll stand to be uncomfortable a little longer.
@howin23 - You bring up an interesting thought about people taking little little babies trick or treating. I don't think I've ever had an adult with a baby (not in a larger group) trick or treat at our house, but I'm too excited to see the cute little babies to care. We won't be taking our babies trick or treating until they're old enough to want to go. We'll probably dress them up and take pictures of them, though!
@wolkie - I'm sorry to hear about your appointment. No real advice since I've never been through birth before and I'm not in your situation. Just, hugs!
@kyliedaniellexx - WTF. You guys are having a baby, you should get the bigger room. I don't see the problem. Sorry you are dealing with this!
@AnnieRoo13 - Yikes! Sorry you had a rough appointment (literally).
So interesting fact: With the two sets of twin births yesterday, more than half of ladies from the N14 Twin group have outside babies -- and it's not even November! Not totally surprising since twins come early, but it's still just shocking to see the stats. Given my 40-week due date isn't until Nov. 28 (whu whu!?) and I'm not having contractions or seeing any type of progress, I'm sure it'll be well into Nov. before mine make an appearance.
