Eeek! So many new N14 baby announcements, I can't wait to see who goes next!

I had a really strong contraction at bedtime last night. Just the one. What happened to my irritable uterus, why are you shaping up *now*? I wanna meet my baby too!

Prodromal labor sucks! This start and stop pattern has been going on for 2 weeks and I'm exhausted! Granted I found out today I'm 80% effaced, 0 station, and 2-3 cm dilated so it's not useless contractions but I just want this to end.

The anticipation is driving me crazy too. Periodic contractions and cramping. At the Ob yesterday I was 4cm and 80% effaced which was another cm from the week before. The OB kept commenting on how low the head was and said "I think you just need a few more contractions to get this started." Yeah, I'll believe that when it happens.

My random...I called in to work today, I have a headache and just generally feeling pretty crappy. I've only used 2 sick days in 4 years with the company and now I lay here not able to rest or sleep because I feel so horribly guilty for calling in. Ugh.

I am so ready to get rid of this cold and get the show on the road to delivery! I had an OB appt yesterday and I got her to do a cervical check only because I have been having some contractions here and there and wanted to know if they were doing anything. I also wanted a membeane sweep. I am only 2cm and 50% effaced, she did the sweep and I have had spotting and cramping but that's about it. I know the sweep only has a 50% chance to work so I am keeping my fingers crossed and plan on going for a walk today!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!! Yay for all of these adorable N14 babies!!!

All these drive-by "Am I in labor" posts (and now the pain one) are making me stabby. Why do people think we have psychic powers and/or medical licences? Screw being nice to stupid people, I haven't said anything only because I can't think of anything good (ie snarky) enough to say.

39wk check-up today. Not even really sure what I'm hoping for. I've pretty much convinced myself that I'll go past my EDD and have to be induced. Not what I want to happen, but it's getting to the point where it's looking like a necessary evil. I just want this baby OUT! And all the comments from people saying "STILL no baby yet?" make it sound like they're blaming me for doing something wrong to still have an inside baby. Technically, I'm not even due until Sunday, people. And that's only an estimate! Chill the fuck out!

All these babies being born are getting me PUMPED UP.

@bethas We have conferences tomorrow, and many of my colleagues are praying that my water breaks in one particular conference. It would be hilarious. I hope you feel better soon. And by feel better, I mean have a baby.

My 6th graders threw me a surprise shower yesterday! It was precious, and they gave me a hilarious book of parenting advice from "the experts in the 6th grade." It's one hell of a read, let me tell you... I am overwhelmed by the love and support of my students and their families.

I know this is probably NBD, but baby's heart rate was in the 120s for the first time yesterday. The midwife seemed a little surprised, but then she told me that it was still in a healthy range. I know I shouldn't be worrying, but I'm just used to a higher rate than that. Does baby's heart rate slow down near the end? Yesterday was also a slightly sleepy day for baby Popcorn, so that might have something to do with it.

I hit 38 weeks tomorrow, which I was really hoping for (yay!). My plan was to start walking and having sex like a cross-country hiking nymphomaniac who just loooooves pineapple and spicy food. Ummm....I get grumpy having to walk to the bathroom and I truly can't visualize how sex would work. It all sounded so good back when I was 35 weeks pregnant. DH is feeling the same way. I keep mentioning suggestively that I'm almost 38 weeks, and he looks at me like a panicked caged animal. This will not go well.

Was up from midnight to 1:30 with what I can only imagine were contractions. Constant cramping with intermitten periods that were much more intense. I thought that might be it but then they stopped. Have an ultrasound this morning bc dr thinks my fluid is Low and LO's head may be too big for me to deliver vaginally. This could be a big day!

@arts‌ I feel your pain! So exhausting! Glad yours are doing something! I'm only 1.5 cm dilated. Mine suddenly stopped a couple days ago and I've gotten amazing sleep since. Hope you get a break or a baby soon!

First off, the gr 6 shower sounds like the friggin cutest thing EVER!

As for baby's heart rate, 120s is still normal. Up until yesterday my LO has been in the 120s for months. Yesterday he went up to 150s but he was moving when my midwife started, and apparently when they're moving that's normal. Maybe your LO was just having a chill day?

I slept okay last night, just up to pee a lot. Super annoyed with the random cold that has decided to show up. DH is healthy and myson is alnost there. Why couldn't it just skip me?

There s so much pressure on my pelvis and my sciatica has made a lovely return, so that's fantastic. I have random contractions and that is fine by me, so long as they stay random, but I have a feeling it won't stay that way for long

I love all these babies being born and wonder if we will have a Halloween baby or two!

I just remembered I have to make dd's costume still! Eek! Good thing a Cotton Candy costume should be easy...

This is the first time in ages I've woken up to this thread being on page 1. I'm going to try to go back to sleep since I should have 2.5 hours till dd wakes and it really struck me last night that if I can sleep I should since nighttime feeding are around the corner!

Been thinking about how much harder it is to take care of an outside baby than an inside one.

I'm also second guessing my choice to go through with this semester, if I miss more than two classes I'll be withdrawn (stupid rules). Hoping so much that this baby stays inside until her due date, it really would be perfect timing.

Oral thrush still hasn't gone away. Had a dream last night that the medicine pulled out two of my molars and I was trying to put the back in.

After weeks of being unable to sleep on my back, suddenly that's the only way I'm comfortable. I know it's not good for baby, and it makes my pregnancy snoring worse, but I sleep so well like that!

Our wine from Australia arrived yesterday and we have another shipment arriving from Sonoma on Friday. We'll be up to 114 bottles in our cellar! Yay!

You guys are making some excellent points about the baby staying in. As much as I want her here I don't know what to do with an outside baby either.

I have my 37 week appointment today. But I heard my doctors out of town so I'll be with the nurse. Not sure if this'll do a cervical check since it's just a nurse. Then I took the rest of the day off to do all kinds of fun stuff, looking forward to my day.

I would totally be on "Team Stay In There" if I didn't have this midwife drama! The first few weeks with a newborn are so nuts. But he has until Nov 7 before my care is switched to the hospital midwives. I'll be in the hospital regardless, but if it's before the 7th I'll at least be with the midwives I've been seeing all along. Therefore I'm on Team Sex & Pineapple.

Me too! This is my last week of work and I'm banking on having some time off before the baby is born. I'm not quite ready!!

@econosaurus  eeee gad.....I wouldn't want anyone else doing that perineal massage thing to me.   I have been trying to half ass attempt it in the shower the past few days.....I was thinking that this morning though....how can anyone let their DH do it for them?    I only go until it starts to hurt,  so I am probably not accomplishing anything.    ha ha....but I can't imagine someone else doing it.   I would make them stop as soon as they started!

Last night was bad. I had to put my ice pack around my back and my left pelvic/pubic bone hurt sooooo bad even lying down I had to get put ice on that as well. It was literally throbbing. Is this that lightning crotch of which some of you speak? Please god let this mean there is progress of some sort. I also wound up waking up at 2:30 this morning. Thought about making this thread then but was too uncoordinated to figure out mobile giffing. Let me try again...me when I'm up at 2:30 after the evening I just described

All these mommies having their babies and I'm sure y'all did great and I'm excited for you to have brought your precious babies into the world and I'm not gonna lie I'm extremely jealous...
I'm all over here like I'm due Monday 40 weeks on Monday I'm not dilated at all and only just now thinning out... doc said he will plan for me to be induced if I'm still pregnant Monday... He said I have a 50/50 chance of still being pregnant by then I'm almost positive I will still be pregnant I'm only having about 5 contractions... A day if that...

Morning ladies! I got no sleep last night. I was having awful vagina pain for 2 hours and I kept having to pee. I have an appt tomorrow and I'll be 38 and 6! I am hoping I am making progress. I have a growth scan and I have a feeling they will induce me. They told me last week that with GD they usually induce at 39. Hoping I go before then so I can experience the excitement!

I'm due Nov 8, but I definitely want baby to stay in at least until after Halloween. I want to take DS trick-or-treating! He's 2,so this is the first year he'll really understand.

(We went to a couple houses last year, but he didn't really "get it". And last year Oct 31 was the day doctor confirmed my miscarriage, so it wasn't a fun day for me anyway, I was trying to suck-it-up for DS's sake to have a fun holiday.)

My son didn't quite get trick or treating at two. He got candy and was excited about it, but didn't quite know what to do. I am excited for this year because he knows more about it.. I need to have this baby after Halloween because 1- there is no one who can disarm the store that morning but me and 2- last year I had a spinal tap on Halloween and was bed ridden which sucked because Halloween is my favorite holiday! And 3- because I want totake my son trick or treating goshdarn it!

This is exactly how I feel. My MW moved my EDD to November 1st (can't figure out how to change my ticker) so I am 40 weeks on Saturday and no signs of labour insight.

MmmPopcorn--Oh goodness, I love 6th graders...seriously, one of my favorite ages to work with.  I bet your shower was great and that your book is hilarious!

I'm pissy today.  Nothing big, just little things that have irritated the crap out of me.  Hope everyone's having a better hump day than me!  This week is moving so slow!

Morning Peeshes!

I had my first cervical check at my appointment yesterday. Before the appointment, I asked DH if he thought I'd be dilated. His answer, "I hope you are as much dilated as you had ever hoped and dreamed to be at this point." Lol talk about knowing how to tip toe around a pregnant lady hehe 

I am 1.5cm dilated and 50% effaced. All of my cervical wildest dreams have come true

I am super bummed about the weather outlook for Halloween here. Rainy with a high of 42 and snow possibility has been thrown in there.

This is the first year we hadplanned to take DS trick or treating and it is going to be nasty. We did take him to Zoo Boo on Sunday so he did some trick or treating at that but not the same. Also he is obsessed with pumpkins now and he started actually saying pumpkin yesterday instead of just pointing at them. So freaking cute to hear a 2yr old say pumpkin...trying to get it on video....

Talk to me about being GBS+. I found out today that I am and after googling I am terrified. I am sitting waiting to be examined crying cause they gave me the results and then left the room.

I don't think I'm handling this well..

I think we live inthe same area! Our Halloween temps are going to stink, but I only plan on bringing my son to a few homes on the street and then back to our warm house to hand out candy.

Just finished raking the yard. I think that's enough activity and accomplishment for one day. I even have a blister to show for it.

What's the deal with taking a 1 year old trick or treating? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it, and plan to take baby next year, but was wondering...do neighbors judge you? I mean, it's not like the 1 year old is eating the candy, so basically it's adults getting free candy from other adults.

Thank you @Econosaurus‌ and @bethas I try not to google cause it only causes me worry, but I did it anyways. I was hopeful to labor at home but starting to think because I live so far away that is not going to be possible.. My doc is on vacation and I'm still waiting on the nurse to come examine me, so I may have to wait for answers till next week.

Even if they do oh well. I took Addison wheb she was little. Just went earlier before it got too crazy. Some houses actaully had board books for her age. I loved that.

I met some of our new neighbors with 3 little ones (one is a month old--only 2 weeks older than Chloe!).  they asked if we were taking her trick or treating...so I guess it's a thing.  no, we are not.  But she will be dressed as a little fishy helping us give out candy!!!

Like PPs have said, GBS is a very common bacteria (and just because you have it now doesn't mean you will in a year). You just need to be sure you call your doctor and go to the hospital if your water breaks, because they will start IV antibiotics. At the hospital I work at the goal is to give mom at least 2 doses before delivery. I would ask your doctor questions if they didn't explain it to you to give you some peace of mind. Stay off google! 

I am so jealous of everyone having their babies! I know this little guy needs to stay in another week or two, but I just can't wait to meet him. We are all ready, and I am definitely ready to be off work. I am also ready to eat whatever I want to (especially with all this talk about halloween treats/candy). My scheduled c-section is the day before my due date because of my doc's schedule, so that is kind of annoying. I would have rather gone at 39 weeks due to his size... I'm hoping he will decide to come on his own before then. [-O<

When I took DS last year, we only went to a few houses, which were all neighbors we are friends with. He was done after that anyway (past bedtime).
And maybe it makes me a bad mom, but I let DS eat the candy & chips he got.

@ashris13 You really shouldn't worry about it. Even if you don't get the antibiotic, the chance of passing it to baby is very small (1/200 I think). Once you get the antibiotic it goes down to 1/4,000 or so according to my docs. If you have a CS, they won't even treat you for it because it's not a problem in an adult.

One other interesting point is that the baby can get it immediately (within 24 hours or so), usually caused by mom having it, or can have it show up weeks later, in which case half of the babies' moms didn't even have it.

The only action I think you need to take is: 1) Put it in your birth plan and make sure you notify triage or the nurses as soon as you get to the hospital in case they don't notice it in your file; and 2) Tell your pediatrician so they are on the lookout for it when they check the baby after birth.

There are also a slew of things you can do to try to get rid of it in the meantime, but not much point b/c it could just come back.
