We got an email from our church this week that a neighbor (only 39...) died in his sleep from an apparent heart attack. To make it worse, he was going to get married in only two weeks.
I recognize them but didn't know him well at all, but I'm just so sick over it. I just keep thinking of how happy and excited they probably were, right before their wedding, and how devastating it would be to lose your spouse like that, not even getting to say goodbye.
I want to make a dinner for her to at least freeze, but I'm just coming up with lasagna. I don't really know her well enough to know her taste preferences, and I'd hate to make something with meat or too spicy if that's not what she likes. Any other suggestions?
So for those wondering how the testing went it was horrible. I have to redo the 3 hour test on Friday. I did the fasting like I was suppose to and fasted that morning as well. Get to the lab they take my blood before giving me the drink. Then they give me the glucose drink after taking my first blood sample.
I go out into the waiting room. And I start to feel bad. Like really bad. I felt shakey and sick. I started to feel that smothered claustrophobic feeling so I walked outside to get some fresh air.
I puked every where in the parking lot. Every bit of the drink I puked up. I puked about 6 times in a row. The doctor seems to think it was just too much on my body to handle. But reguardless I have to do it again. They want me to wait until Friday so my body has time to re-adjust.
I think someone mentioned earlier this week they don't understand why women bring their husbands to their glucose test. I discovered why yesterday. After that I was in no condition to drive home. After not eating, then having blood taken, and then vomiting up the drink there was no way I could have driven myself home.
SO for anyone side eyeing women bringing someone with them for the glucose test don't judge to harshly. Not everyone handles getting blood taken the same. Thats the first time I've ever had a reaction like that to getting blood taken while fasting.
Ugh, sorry for your experience, I hate that feeling when your sugar is all off.
And I hear you on the needing back up at the glucose test, I will have my DH there again this time, he came the first time and luckily I was ok, but I am prone to blood sugar issues/low blood pressure issues which cause me to pass out or just get really shaky and dizzy so having someone to drive me home in worst case it essential.
he also learned his lesson if there are going to be large needles involved, when I had to have him come get me after a cortisone shot in my back a few years ago, I passed out after it and couldn't drive.
@kefttsc I'm sorry to hear about your sister. Can you hire a mother's helper? You can find them on care.com. One might be helpful if you're really worried about having enough help.
GTKY: At my baby shower for DD I had a black blouse and gray and white chevron maxi skirt. My best friend plans to throw me another shower and idk what to wear. This one is more low key so I was hoping I could get away with jeans and a nicer top. As it is, I'm much bigger this pregnancy than I was last time (started out 40 lb heavier) so I am scrounging for things to wear daily.
@kefttsc Sorry to hear about your sister! I hope she's able to come help out, if just to do things that can be accomplished sitting down as PPs have said. TBH, when my mom spent the first two weeks with us right after we brought the babies home from the hospital, she wasn't all that helpful except for doing laundry and cleaning a bit. DH and I did all the diaper changes and feedings, plus everything else in between concerning the babies. Maybe after you and YH get a rhythm, you can have people come and help. My MIL came the two weeks after my mom, and she was a tremendous help since we knew what needed to be done. She even helped with the night feedings/diaperings more than DH toward the end of her visit, letting him catch up on sleep.
DD1 was up most of the night crying, and she wouldn't sleep unless I was holding her. She would cry every time she woke up, which was a lot. I feel like I'm in a haze right now. She's acting like she's fine now, but I'm still debating if I should call the doc. She wasn't hungry and didn't seem injured (checked her thoroughly and she didn't have a fever), and she was actually playing a lot before she started crying and not letting me put her down. I'll keep an eye on her. What do y'all think? Should I call?
GTKY: I wore a cute belted pink dress from Amazon for my shower (no shower this time, of course). I'll attach a pic for ya!
GTKY: someone on here mentioned asos.com and so I bought a dress for a wedding I was in last month from there and loved it! Which reminds me, I got an email from them about a sale, so I'm going to look today for a shower dress.
I've never heard of it but I'm looking now, and this site has some super cute dresses!
Catching up after falling back asleep (thank goodness).....you ladies are so sweet and supportive and it makes me happy.
@babycfeb2015 I have one baby in my ribs and it gets super painful by the end of the day. I just sit sorta sideways in my chair, swapping sides, and it helps a little bit. I also found that if I recline my seat in the car a little more than normal, that helps too. It is one of my least favorite feelings, so I hope you get comfortable soon!
@holachicaaa DH can stay home for a bit, but he is a realtor and his schedule is super unpredictable. He is trying to work extra right now so that he'll have some extra money saved up for us when I go on leave so that he can stay home a bit too. It's good that he is so flexible!
@kkleigh10 I do think it is time to ask my sister. She is scared about the surgery (of course!), so I have been avoiding it so that I don't stress her out more. The last time she had this surgery, I went to Atlanta (about 2 hours away where she lives) and helped her for 3 or 4 days. She couldn't even put her own shoes on, get up to make food, etc. So I wouldn't want her to have to come and do anything. She would be hard pressed to make the drive because it hurts to keep it bent for that long. It's really hard on her and I don't want to make it harder. It just makes me want to cry because not only will she not be able to help, but I don't want her to miss the babies being born, etc. Oh hell. Plus her DH is in charge of dog care when we are in the hospital.....guess I better find backup for that too!!!
@bhjones1980 It is a VERY hard surgery. She is overweight and it's been a viscous cycle of being able to lose weight while being in pain from the hip, etc. But of course the weight doesn't help the hip at all. I feel so bad for her.
@willvilljill She wants a better WIENER PICTURE????? WTF.
@lizzybean I am trying really hard to feel bad for you that you were at the Magic Kingdom until midnight, but I just can't muster it up! LOL! We are huge Disney fans and only get to go every other year or so, so I am SUPER jealous!!!! How do you feel after all that walking???
@psychobutthead I can't believe you had so much trouble with the GD test. I'm so sorry!!! I wish there was some alternative. Having pregnant women fast and then flooding them with sugar is just a miserable way to go about things!!
You all have awesome suggestions for shower clothing! I think I'll go shopping for a few minutes this weekend to see what I can find. I have a bad ass sweater dress that I LOVE, but I think it will be too heavy. The temps will be 45/70 that day (as of now) so I think something more like a maxi dress with a cardigan will be better. Or maybe I can find a lighter material sweater dress......

@psychobutthead Sorry that went so bad yesterday. @MaddScientist Phantom is good and was one of my first theater shows. Are you seeing it in NYC?
Unfortunately we are not seeing it in NYC. It is part of the broadway series in ATL to which I have season tickets - so just seeing it in town. My broadway seeing friend really hated it, but I think it is a classic and since I haven't seen it before, I am pretty excited. The costuming and sets look really neat on the commercials/ads.
@aggiebug The property is fine, for us at least. The roof peeled back about 4 ft on the north side and so the bedroom had some water cascades. Nothing got to the first floor, and professional cleaners were in quickly, so apart from some staining on the wall that we're going to paint, everything is good there. The car survived completely intact, though no one is quite sure how. Here is an article that ran in the local paper with a picture of the museum itself, the second picture has my car in it. The roof is tarped and just waiting for materials to get in. I'm keeping an eye on things inside since we've got rain showers for the next couple of days, but the guys seem to have done an awesome job.
I've just been doing the little bits of cleanup and getting laundry and such caught up on, so it's not been too exciting the last couple of days. My OB's office lost power, so no appointment for me yesterday and I'm now just waiting for them to call and reschedule me (in at 11 today, just got called). DH found a round trip to Ottawa for ~$250 yesterday to go for 2 days at the beginning of January and visit his sister and new baby. I'm kind of 'whatever' about it at this point, but still annoyed at the whole travel situation in general with her and her husband.
I made it to the gym last night and am pretty pleased with that and over the next two days we've got Diwali buffets at a couple of Indian restaurants here. So exciting.
My mom is going to come out maybe a week or so after the birth and my MIL will come some time after her, we haven't gotten the details ironed out yet.
GTKY: My shower next month I will likely just wear jeans and a nice t-shirt since it's small and casual and just friends from high school. There's theoretically another happening here on island, but I have heard nothing and am not counting on it.
I'm stressing out so much about what crib/dressers to buy. There are so many options and if I find one brand I like it's missing one piece and I want it all to match...and not to mention trying to figure out what stroller travel system to get...ahhhhhh!! We're going next week to the actual stores so hopefully that will help!!
GTKY: My shower won't be until January so probably leggings with boots and a cute top in pink for our baby girl. :x
@HailsMom I don't think you're over reacting, per se... only because it seems like such an odd thing to kinda actively hide from you. If it's a one off "oops, it slipped my mind" thing then, yeah it's overreacting. But since he seems to want to go out of his way not to mention it after you RECENTLY said it bothered you.... I think you have a right to feel the way you do.
I agree with this. The only reason I can think of him hiding it is maybe hes afraid you'll ask him to do some chores around the house or some errands. That would be the reason my DH would try hiding it.
@kefttsc Even if your sister isn't as mobile as she originally was she can still help you with the twins if she sits and just feeds one twin that will be such a big help. I know with my SIL had her twins her biggest problem was they would both want fed at the same time. Or if she even sits on the edge of a couch or bed and changes their diaper or clothes that will help alot.

Good morning! Nothing to spam about yet, maybe something will come up later.
GTKY: I need to find a dress still. Probably something over tights/leggings.
@HailsMom, having worked from home, my first question is: are there expectations that he get any chores done while working from home? That can drive me nuts. However, I wouldn't hide it, I'd just say I honestly had to work and couldn't take time to do chores/run errands. It's such a small thing, too, to let you know.
Awaiting our bundle of cute chaos.
F15 January Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward to Most after Baby Arrives
As far as help after baby...we are really fortunate to have family really close to us. My SIL made us meals for about 2 weeks and dropped them off so I didn't have to cook. My parents were always available to help if needed and MIL is about 10 minutes away. I think in those first weeks they would stop by so that I could shower or do whatever needed to be done while they were here. I actually really loved those first few weeks with her, I would pretty much just sit on the couch and stare at her for hours each day. With this baby my Mom has already offered to come get Adeline as often as I need so that I can just focus on the baby.
So, H agreed that we are going to hire someone to come clean our house once a week since I'm struggling with school and babies and keeping the house clean. I guess his aunt is going to start cleaning a few houses after the holidays and he wants to get her to do it. BUT, she is a clean freak. Like, she has one of those houses with rooms you can't go into. Our house is...ahem...not like that. I am kind of thinking I would rather have someone not related to us do it. Thoughts?
F15 Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward to Most After Baby Arrives: BELLY SLEEPING!
chickyclg Ahh poor squished babies. I don't how you can fit behind one of those desks. I have issues fitting behind kids desked while not being pregnant.
CatLadyTX On monday when I had just the one hour test they just told me what time I need to be back by and that if I left to make sure I didn't eat or drink and that if I drank it was just water. I wouldn't have gone out side if it hadn't been for the over heated claustrophobic feeling I was getting. And if they had told me on Monday to not go out I wouldn't have yesterday even while not feeling well.
cls78 If you have the patience you might want to try a Ross for the sweater dresses. This time of year they get a ton of them in. They won't be maternity but if you browse for awhile you might find something good.
kefttsc I can't believe all the trouble I'm having either When I got home I just cried uncontrollably because I'd have to fast again and go through all this crap all over. I called my DH on the phone just sobbing and he couldn't understand anything I said so he came home. He made me some food and bought me gatorade. That made me feel alot better drinking that so Friday I'm bring some with me for after.

How are the dress fits? I have 3 in my cart right now and ready to purchase!
for those of you who have the Kohls oh baby motherhood maternity jeans - how is the fit vs. the suggested sizing chart?
The other maternity pants I have are 1) sized like regular jeans not small, medium, large. and 2) sized medium (borrowed) - but they are big, and I have to pull them up all the time. This could be because the are used and/or a different brand. I am basically between small and medium on the suggested size chart (regularly wear size 6 jeans). I don't want to get stuck with too small (if I go with small) or too large pants (if I go with medium like my other pants) that I have to pull up all the time. So, what say you?
@MaddScientist We were planning to go see Phantom at the Fox! My sister and mom are still going but I declined. Phantom isn't my fave and it is quite expensive for one that isn't my fave. I'm a Les Mis girl
@kcrosem a PP doula is an idea and it may be the only option. There is just something about not having family here to help just breaks my heart.
@psychobutthead I hope that she is healed enough to do that. The issue is that the nursery is upstairs (our bedroom is too), so she wouldn't be able to run back and forth for anything. BUT, if I could pile laundry at her feet, hand her a baby or two, etc. that could work as a last ditch option.
I just got a FB message from my sister and she is hoping to hear about rescheduling the surgery today. She is hoping it will happen in about 3 weeks so that she is plenty healed by the time the babies come. She said it won't be like last time in that she'll be "down" for a week and just supported with crutches for the additional 3. Fingers crossed. This is weighing heavy on me.

Am I the only one who doesn't want people coming to help with the baby?
I cringed at the idea of anyone staying with us to help me with the baby or just popping in to help. Hell Dh wanted to take a week off of work to help me with the baby its not like I'm having a major surgery of some kind.
Then again when I need help after my car accidents no one cared and would help me.

On help after the baby's born. My husband's determined to take the 16 weeks he has coming to him so he can get to know his daughter. He'll be at home for the first four to six weeks, then use the remaining time throughout my leave. If our day care pushes us to a July start, he'll take a month off and be home with her.
My mom will surely pop up in there to help, but not sure when. His parents will be lumps on the couch, so whatever. I wouldn't trust them to take care of a pet rock.

GTKY: Baby Shower #1 I still dont have a clue what Im wearing. I'm leaning towards a really pretty top and some leggings. @babycfeb2015, I'm all about the right-side rib pain right now. When I told my OB about it, he cheerfully said, "Oh, yes, completely normal. And it's going to get worse!" I feel it mostly toward the end of the day and have to lean back for comfort when I'm sitting.

@wirtlehm holy moly that's crazy!! I was broken into while living in Denver... I just Happened to be out of town... Or else I absolutely would have been there (time of day) thank god my dog was at my ex-in laws or when they kicked down the door she could have ran out and I may have never seen her again. For us, they cleaned our house out (using MY laundry baskets/sheets to wrap MY stuff up in) but I think the biggest creepy thing was my rifled through underwear drawer...
It's the invasion of your private space, not the loss of stuff that affects you. I know it's tough but eventually the peace of mind will come back.. I'm sure you both are shaken up (especially DH! I couldn't imagine actually having an intruder there face to face). Insurance should cover the broken window good luck
3 pages!! Too much to catch up on. U hope I didn't miss something important. Does anybody's baby move so much that it makes them sick? I could not sleep at all last night due to constant movements inside my tummy. I hope I am not sounding insensitive or something of that sort, but i really thought I was going to throw up which I didn't, making me feel even more sick. This is the first time that my baby has moved so much, otherwise I have an anterior placenta and I hardly feel the movements. I am feeling super guilty, because I felt sick due to movements.
So... my house was broken into after I left this morning... thank God the guy was too stupid to realize we have 2 pitbulls who live in our kitchen and that just because I'm gone doesn't mean DH is! He got cornered in the basement but busted out my BRAND NEW BASEMENT WINDOW X(

Omg thank goodness everything/everyone is ok! I had my car broken into and I felt violated, I can't even imagine how you must be feeling! That's so scary.
@Selly08 Sometimes the baby moving makes me nauseated or even throw up a little in my mouth. It doesnt happen all the time but it does happen. Gosh I love this guy but he is just like DH... FIDGETY!!
@Kefttsc Thanks!! I really like it a lot. My girlfriends were trying to put me in a wedding gown, and I had to put a stop to that mess completely. This one stole my heart.

Re: It's Thursday Spam Time
I recognize them but didn't know him well at all, but I'm just so sick over it.
And I hear you on the needing back up at the glucose test, I will have my DH there again this time, he came the first time and luckily I was ok, but I am prone to blood sugar issues/low blood pressure issues which cause me to pass out or just get really shaky and dizzy so having someone to drive me home in worst case it essential.

Welp, I'm posting first and reading later!
So... my house was broken into after I left this morning... thank God the guy was too stupid to realize we have 2 pitbulls who live in our kitchen and that just because I'm gone doesn't mean DH is! He got cornered in the basement but busted out my BRAND NEW BASEMENT WINDOW X(
Now I'm nervous, because I know he was scoping me out and was most likely hiding out in my garage while I was in there! Scary, scary stuff! Lock your doors my lovely ladies!

Thoughts?

My mom will surely pop up in there to help, but not sure when. His parents will be lumps on the couch, so whatever. I wouldn't trust them to take care of a pet rock.
@wirtlehm how scary! I would be a freaking mess right now. Yay for the dogs but boo on the window
ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

Waited a long time, tried a lot of stuff, science made me a mom.
@willvilljill, that's quite a collecting hobby your MIL has there ...
It's the invasion of your private space, not the loss of stuff that affects you. I know it's tough but eventually the peace of mind will come back.. I'm sure you both are shaken up (especially DH! I couldn't imagine actually having an intruder there face to face). Insurance should cover the broken window
That being said - will she come to wilmington? Lol
