Yeah... I was thinking about this. I need to get to a desktop. If the purpose was collecting pics/info (partly) I'm sure the damage is done with this particular person, though.

I only participated in 1 HDBD. Just tried to go back to delete my photo and for some reason it won't allow me.

It appears that there is a time limit, however, I was able to edit text but not remove my photo.

Maybe a mod can delete all the hdbd threads? Is that possible?

I just hope she's BSC vs a criminal. She fished a lot of info, babies birthdays, names, nicknames, knows where people work, ect...
I don't really know FunniBunni who won Most Likely To Be BSC, but she seemed pretty harmless to the group to me. Maybe she over shared some, was long winded, and had the dog thing, but she didn't give off the impression to be fishing for personal info.
I was nominated for Most Likely to Be BSC, and besides sharing my difference of opinion, don't feel like I've ever expressed anything to be judged crazy like Jen has proven herself to be. My husband can call me BSC, but I'm a real person with baby, and have never lied to get info or to feel self important.

This whole situation is just sad and disheartening. It makes me realize I'm way too trusting and just believe everyone is just like me. I guess this is why you never post your personal info on the Internet, because nut jobs can easily be lurking!

Good job ladies with your detective work. I just hope this situation doesn't rip our community and the bonds we've made apart.

1. I pushed a baby out really fast (accompanied by swear words) so I can't say much about her birth story other than I didn't have time for popsicles.

2.  Not being on facebook was one of the red flags with her, so all the comments of "I'm def not joining the FBs noooow".  She wasn't even there (or was she!??).

You may be able to set your settings to privacy and hide your personal page, but you won't have a SN. You will have your real name. Personally I am the only one in the country with my name, but even if you have a common name you can be found. Especially if you have share your profession and have a professional profile such as linked in and share pictures. Just be careful, ladies. All it takes for this "Jen" to jump back in is to change her IP address which is not that hard to do...

Holy shit! I saw the original thread and was like eh, whatever, seemed kinda random her wife would be joining now but left it alone. I've been mostly lurking since baby boy was born and felt bad about not contributing as much, but now I'm kinda glad I did!

Great detective work ladies! I had a moment a day or two ago after seeing all of these new threads she was posting and then wanted to give us an update on her situation with her wife, it just seemed off. And then why her wife would come on the day or day after she told us they were taking a break.

Anywho, I may be a lurker now, but I'm a real lurker with a real baby

Very true. I do still highly recommend making your fb posts friends only, especially if you post baby pics. You don't want your pics stolen and used as someone's AE.

Oh yes! My profile is locked down and only friends can see it but the above is why I will never join a bump FB page.

I'm mostly a lurker and haven't posted in awhile. But I think the concern over Jen in particular is overstated, but the concern about Internet privacy in general is real.

People are wondering what her motives were, like did she want to steal our pictures, or is she a hairy dude with a pregnancy fetish who wants to jerk it to pictures of pregnant ladies. Well you don't need to invest a year of your life creating a persona and befriending strangers in order to do that. Most likely there are people out there stealing pictures from here and jerking it to pictures of pregnant women, but it's unlikely to be Jen. It's not like she invented HDBD. She most likely created the character for attention and community. I don't watch the show Catfish but I imagine a lot of the catfishers are lonely people with poor self esteem wanting people to treat them as if they were something special. Jen certainly made herself something special and got a lot of positive feedback for it. There are catfishers who do it for financial reasons but Jen doesn't seem to be one of them.

Tldr: Jen is probably harmless but your concern about what you've shared on-line is founded.

We all know that posting on the internet does carry a risk and that anyone can be out there watching.  But it still seems like such a personal violation.  Most of us have been together for almost a year and guess have fallen into a comfort zone.  We've gotten to know each other yep, shared lots of personal things.  You can see on the main page how many views a post has gotten, and most of them are active participants, a lot are the lurkers that we are familiar with, but there are just as many others out there just silently watching.  A lot I'm sure are people just getting useful baby information, but a lot are not.  I try to be careful about what I post and have only posted DD's picture on the birth thread, and now I'm even uncomfortable with that.  Quite the shocker (to most of us anyways!)  Lesson learned...
