  • @cabauer9‌ TB app has to have a mistake or something! It's only 6 inches at week 19, 6.5 at week 20, then 10.5 inches at week 21 - how does it grow 4 inches in 1 week??!....

OH. So apparently they switch from measuring crown-to-rump & start measuring head-to-toe at 20-21 weeks. Ovia makes the switch 1 week earlier than TB, & baby "grows" 4 inches in week 19.

ETA @MrsLaurenandDan‌ thinking of you today!! FX all is well!!

I kinda figured it was the switch, because Ovia is much better at explaining these kinds of things, but thanks for the info!

@MrsLaurenandDan‌ Sending lots of positive vibes for you & baby Sam!

@katydid2014‌ Thanks for sharing the butt baby thread.

I'm still catching up, but good luck to everyone with appointments today!

    Edit: words
  • Good luck at all appointments today! :)

I'm lying in bed ... this cold is kicking the crud out of me. :( And there's a massive thunderstorm. Bed is a perfect place to be at noon, right?

So, what happened with the Mod nominations/vote? I was going to post this on the 'vote thread' but can't seem to write a reply on it. Is @MandJS‌ sticking with us? Is @meladoriestar‌ a new mod for the board? Or is @chaysefaith‌ handling things? I'm ok with any of the above, but would like to make sure I know my board mods! :)

Hope everyone is having a good Monday? :D

No clue. I *think* @mandjs is out and I'm pending approval from BJ?
    Congrats!! :)

    And, I totally lol ' d at your (intentional ) edit, @MandJS‌
  • @RQuinlin‌ and @Darbie914‌ -that is a great suggestion! I will stop by this week! Thanks!

So I didn't read everything and may be redundant, but I think you should ask the Car Seats for the Littles group on FB. I wouldn't ask the firehouse for recommendations, many of them don't even have certified techs and even if they do, they aren't up to date on car seat suggestions, just proper install. Also, every car seat in the store is EQUALLY safe, you pay more for comfort and bells and whistles.

  • Yesterday at Disneyland we met a lady who was with her 18 year old dd & she told me she had baby showers for both of her kids, both girls, only 2 years apart. She also said that people brought gifts for her first daughter as well, so she wouldn't feel left out. She seemed super nice, normal, and I wouldn't have taken her to be a "tacky" kind of person. But I was a little bit in shock and felt like wow that's a bit much to have baby showers with both girls, close in age and an extra gift for the first girl? Idk I was blown away, and thinking good thing there was no bump around when she was having those girls lol!
I can picture my mom doing the whole gift buying for both children so one doesn't feel left out. She does this with my cousins on their birthdays. I bet on each of our kids birthdays she will end up doing this.  She is all about being "fair" although growing up, I was the 2nd girl and I definitely didn't get as much new stuff as my sister. I think that is probably why she feels bad.

I ordered like $90 in baby clothes there yesterday and each item ended up being less than $6 each.  Score!
Am I the only FTM having trouble buying baby clothes? I have no idea what is actually a good deal or not! And I suddenly have no recollection what weather is like in March!
  • If anyone wants a good laugh this morning check out this gem of a thread on TTGP: clicky.  Hi-larious.
    OMG. Butt baby. Hahahahahahaha
That made my shitty morning so much better.
That thread made my Monday, haha. Pure gold.

@CoozieInMyPurse I have only bought footed sleepers, swaddle sacks, nightgowns and onesies so far.  We won't know the sex for another 9 days (I'm not counting or anything) so that has forced me to focus on non-outfit type clothes so far.  I'm really into newborns/infants in comfy sleeping type clothes the majority of the time anyways instead of actual outfits.  I'm all about comfort, easy clean up, and easy diaper access with a newborn.
I agree! It's more thinking "do we need pants or onsies with legs or just sleep sacks and regular onsies?" I'm in Louisiana, so it could end up being warm or it could be cold. Who knows!?

I have bought ZERO baby clothes so far. One of the ladies I work with is moving and is giving me a bunch of baby stuff, so I'm waiting until we get a little closer to start buying baby clothes. I'm not even sure what the weather is like here either.. plus I'm afraid to buy too many in one size and him outgrow them so fast and us not have any others. So, we're waiting. I'm hoping to get the big stuff out of the way first anyway.
  • So I just got off the phone with the midwife center I was using as back up care. They kicked me out of the practice. I sobbed for an hour, not sure why I hated them and planned on changing after my next appointment but I just cracked. My husband has been working like crazy and I am super lonely and emotional. I feel a cry it out coming on soon.

  • I told them I was considering homebirth. So they said that because I don't trust them they can't continue my care.

Honestly it is a money thing they get paid more if I birth with them. My appointments don't really make them much money so I am sitting in a slot that could make more of they give it to someone that will birth with them. I have tons of issues with them this shouldn't have been a shock but it caught me of guard

You have got to be flipping kidding me! My OB knows I'm considering HB, and that either way, I plan to switch since her hospital won't do VBaCs. I have been 100% upfront with it. But she still sees me until I have someone else lined up!

That is awful. I'm sorry to hear that! That is not the kind of care I would want, personally, and I wish you the best of luck finding someone who won't cut you loose just because you may not have them there to help you give birth.
  • I made it clear they had given me crap care last time. I was really honest about the fact that I had been treated poorly last time and that I wouldn't see that one midwife again. I kept an open dialog. I shouldn't have because if they didn't know I was having a hb it wouldn't have happened. They are known for kicking people out who are looking for other care. It isn't unusual for them.

  • I've developed what I think is eczema on my eyelids. I had eczema when I was in my teens and it was on my feet. I guess pregnancy has made it resurface on my eyelids. WTF!? MOST ANNOYING (and random) SHIT EVER.

  • Speaking of gifts for sibling after baby is born. Do y'all think it is necessary for an 18 month old? I feel like he won't really understand why I am giving him a gift. Also...any ideas on gifts? I have a very rambunctious boy who will be about 18 months when the new baby is born.

And I've noticed today that I have a vaguely sore throat. Should I go in for a strep test just in case?

ETA: Made an appointment for tomorrow morning.
  • AGHHHHHHHHHHH wtaf. I go into our bank account and H has spent 350 on the car today because he didn't feel like doing the fucking brakes himself. Are you actually fucking kidding me right now? That was the money we were using to go visit our friends this weekend. I now have to cancel the trip because he spent half of the money we needed because he wanted to be fucking lazy. You fucking asshole. I never get to do anything I am stuck in the house all the fucking time I was looking forward to this you selfish piece of shit. AGHHHHHHHHHHH I needa fucking drink.
