  • DH is home sick and he's miserable.  DS is still a snot factory from his cold, but seems to be feeling pretty good.  I'm bored.  I should do something productive, but I was up in the MOTN and I'm sleepy and lazy today.
  • Loading the player...
  • Maybe I'll mow the lawn today while DS naps.  That will work out well because DH is home so he can keep an ear on the monitor inside.
  • I vote you stay sleepy and lazy.

I'm getting tired of the stupid woodpecker that keeps banging on my house. I don't know how he thinks banging on metal will get him bugs. He's been at it over a week.

I totally had to scare away a woodpecker from pecking on my house yesterday!
  • @Sgriff1, did you rearrange your furniture?

I've scared this little shit off several times. Anyone know of woodpecker repellant?

  • Why does my kid like Thomas the Train so much?  I rarely let him watch it and then in a moment of weakness this week, I did.  He asks for it All. The. Time. now.

LOL.  You would think metal siding would be enough.
  • I just got a recipe for Korean Kalbi from a co-worker that looks amazing. I can't wait to make it. I'm even sending DH to the Korean grocery store to pick up ingredients. :-D

  • From my local page:

Warning to all mama's on here. We have a cloth nappy napper in our mist! There have been two occasions where I have hung my cloth diapers to sun on MY front porch (can't use back because dogs will chew on them) and the same woman has come up every time to try and steal my diapers! The first time I engaged in a conversation that resulted in her telling me I shouldn't put things on my front porch if they weren't free or for sale. The second time I caught a glimpse of her through the window and she panicked, knocked my diapers over into the mulch and ran to her car. Inserts. Everywhere. I mean they're expensive but jees.... people are crazy. Be warned of the Nappy Napper!
This always scares me when I leave a stroller out after a walk.

And it's also why I usually use the $25 one I got second hand.  Plus it actually works better on our roads (we don't have sidewalks).

  • The nappy napper is ridiculous!!

And LO will not sleep today until it is time to eat. Then he eats an ounce and passes out. Only to wake up pissed and hungry. Repeat.

    :(

We have an extension on the back of our house. The damn woodpecker is actually under my livingroom and dining room pecking on one of those huge metal I-beams. There's no shot at punching through and there's no shot at bugs. It must be stupid-season for them if I'm not the only one!

  • I am reading Kind Mama by Alicia Silverstone.  Got it from the library because I did not want to read it enough to actually buy it.  I am feelin' some of the things she is saying.  But in huge parts I think she is BSC.

If she does it again, you should get her license plate and report her.  She's walking on to private property and basically stealing.  That should count for something.

Edit: forgot this was just a FB announcement, but I'd totally report someone who did it not once, but twice.

  • I found out yesterday that apparently it is legal for my neighbor to hunt deer in his back yard with a high-powered rifle as long as it's the right season. Doesn't matter how close to my house as long as it's not AT my house. A salt-lick is fine to bait them, but I get to report him when I see him put out grain this winter. I'm all fine with hunting as long as it's not in my back yard. I'd understand if we were rural, but we're in suburbia. I'd probably feel better about it if they weren't major douchebags in the first place. Dad is a drunk with many DUIs and I hate the idea of a drunk driving on my street. Just a month ago he was arrested for a hit-and-run accident while drunk. The son is the hunter. Don't know if the son drinks, but drunks with guns don't inspire my confidence and make me feel safe.

When this happened to our neighbors they put up some kind of special pecker house on the spot where the bird was pecking. I think it solved the problem somehow. But I don't know if that solution was specific to that species or what.

What?! Where do you live? I can't believe there aren't laws about how close you can shoot near a residence.
Missouri. I will probably call 911 when I hear a shot this year. Maybe he doesn't have a permit and will get busted for that. Heaven knows his dad keeps doing land "improvements" without permits and gets busted for it. It sucks, because the best part about living here are all the other awesome neighbors.

  • We got a huge bag full of clothes from the neighbors last night.

I don't feel bad about ordering stuff for her for fall and winter.  Most of the items in there are short sleeved shirts and shorts.

However, I really need to wash the clothes.  They use far too much detergent and fabric softener.  So much I can't stand to have a single shirt next to me.

WTF?  If one of my neighbors fired a gun in their backyard, I'd be calling the cops.  How is that even possible without hitting another house (unless they are aiming straight up, but that clearly wouldn't kill any deer)?!

My random is that DH and I were 95% certain that he was going to get laid off from his job very soon.  I had a cart full of stuff at Nicki's that I was convincing myself not to buy because money might be super tight soon.  Today we found out that they're not laying him off.  So guess who just bought $100 worth of diapers?   >this girl<   :)  I am ridiculously excited for three of the new Blueberry prints coming my way soon!!  Plus I got one of the new houndstooth AIOs from Nicki's.  Perhaps it is the two cups of coffee and no lunch, but I am squirming with excitement!

That's great news! Woot for new Blueberries!

We live on wooded lots and at the top of a steep hill. At the bottom is a creek that flows through the backs of our properties. The deer follow that creek. He has built a deer stand across the creek. Last year he was shooting off his deck. As long as he aims toward his bait, he won't hit anyone or anything else. I just don't know or trust these people (I feel with good reason) and all it takes is one accident to fire right through my house into a kid's room. Right now he's been bow hunting without baiting with grain, so he's within his right assuming he has a permit.

And damnit, I like seeing the deer! We don't have an overpopulation or anything. We have seen deer, turkey, fox, coyotes, groundhogs, tons of tortoises, and other stuff. We haven't seen much of anything since jack-ass moved in two years ago.

  • I'm full of random today.. has anyone else's Android app updated recently? Mine just did yesterday and it seriously sucks. The screen doesn't adjust when the keyboard is open, so I can't see what I'm typing. And if I click on a picture within a thread, I can't hit the back button to return to the thread. I have to actually close out of the app to get back to the board. ~X(
