Y'all are funny but my opinion sticks. I have know to many people who have gotten it and then gotten the flu. I have never had the flu so why get it. My opinion. That is all.

And my house has never burned down, so why get homeowner's insurance?

My house is replaceable material. My body is not.

FYI - there is NO way to get the flu from the flu vaccine, not the injected one. They do not use live viruses for the vaccine. The vaccine is typically made one of two ways 1) with inactivated virus or 2) no flu virus at all. The vaccine can sometimes cause side effects that can be mistaken for the flu which is a result of your body's immune system making antibodies in response to being vaccinated. 

And if someone does get the flu after having a flu vaccine, it is b/c they have been introduced to a strain that was not included in the vaccine. As someone else mentioned, the strains created each year are an educated guess. Or because they were exposed to the flu before getting vaccinated and their bodies did not have time to build up resistance. 

Also just as an FYI someone sat down in my office when I worked at the CDC after I got my flu shot and she said the same nonsense... "I never get the flu, so why ever get the flu shot?" I was out sick (just fatigued) for 2 days only to come back to work to discover she had come down with H1N1 (swine flu). She was out sick for a month and was hospitalized for pneumonia. I was either "sick" from my body's reaction to the vaccine or because I had been exposed to H1N1 but by getting the flu vaccine, I had more protection from the virus than she had (b/c she refused to get vaccinated). 

You are entitled to your opinion, however, just thought I'd give you some real information so you could develop an informed opinion.

SO just a little story for the "lady's" freaking out about their wrong way facing babies. My friend (who is due a month before me) went in today for her C-section and they did an ultrasound and baby flipped! So there's your proof baby can flip at any time. Don't freak out yet ;-)

Um guys.. When I was 10 I was sick and asked for pills instead of liquid and I couldn't take a pill to save my life. I was gagging and crying and carrying on like an idiot.

My doctor said if I didn't swallow it, I would have to put it in my butt. I swallowed the pill.

I think its "up to 50% off." A few weeks ago I got an email for a sale at Old Navy. The email said Polos...ect... for the whole family for $5, so I went to get some for DH...only kids polos were on sale...ticked me off.

It's didn't take my doctor an hour maybe 30 min. I'm sure after doing it thousands of times he knows what he is looking for. My DH was also there. I was distracted. He did it vaginal. It was awkward for me to have it done with him in the room. But thanks for your concern

They don't do anatomy scans vaginally. It is also done by a radiologist and not your doctor. 

I guess every village needs an idiot. I am thinking your town is glad you don't come around very often.

Update: my doctor did an anatomy scan. He just never called it that. So I was confused. He will be doing it again soon. He doesn't believe in unnessary SG. Since it can be disturbing to the baby. But thanks guys for being concerned.

1. I think it's more about trusting the CDC and their recommendations to get the flu vaccine, especially while pregnant or with a newborn.

2. If your doctor doesn't believe in unnecessary ultrasounds, there is no reason for him to do any more, unless you are high risk. And, he would not be doing another anatomy scan, that is a one-time scan. And, it is not done vaginally as you said yours was in your following post.

I guessing all doctors are the same and use the same method ?! No no they don't thanks for dropping the mic. Like I said he has been practicing for 36 years in his own practice. And yes it was early but he clarified not as early as I thought. And he does two one in the beginning and one at the end because any thing can happen or change at any time.

I feel like we have to walk on eggshells now, so can you please explain how the TOU defines harassment and perhaps provide an example of a harassment scenario that would be grounds for action?

Oh by all means go ahead and argue with her - for sure - heck I'm doing it too. But leave the derogatory terms out of it.

Constantly having a board call her bat shit crazy and making up jokes about her will give her legitimate cause for complaint against O14 and some specific O14 members.

Argue, debate, tell her how wrong she is and precisely why  - educate her on the matters at hand - sure. But keep the CR and TOU in mind.

I'm amazed by what people get away with on other TB boards if we are violating so many things here. I've seen so many incredibly nasty, longstanding altercations that have led to nothing. Plus, the things she said were way worse, and an apology doesn't make them better or any less offensive.

I forgot to tell y'all that we celebrated another wedding anniversary yesterday. Started the day with a great sunrise walk and my first Pumpkin Spice latte of the season. DH brought home a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that evening and I made us yellow curry chicken for dinner. He read me the poem he wrote for me (he writes one every year) and it was so cool that this year it mentioned our LO. I made photo albums of our first and second years (still need to do years three and four). After dinner we started watching Divergent. It was a pretty chill anniversary, but still perfect.

Yesterday I went to a coffee shop to meet with a potential doula. I had planned to dial DH in as he is out of town for work. I got there, looked around, didn't see her, so I ordered a cup of tea and a muffin and sat down to wait. I decided to check and see if she messaged me or I had the day/time wrong. Turns out I had the complete wrong day. She wanted to meet next Thursday. So I called DH and we chatted while I had my tea and muffin. 

I got off the phone with him and bumped for a bit. When we were on the phone he told me about something he posted on FB and I went there to check his page out because I have been MIA from FB since joining this site. I found that I had missed so many posts by him. I started to get sad because I already feel like I don't see him enough because of his travel. In looking at all the pictures he posted, I started to sit there and cry. Then I cried on the drive home. I know it's pregnancy hormones and I know that part of it is because he's been gone for a month. It just gets to me sometimes. He comes home today and then goes directly to Santa Cruz for a bachelor party weekend, but Sunday night I get him back and he doesn't leave again until March. 

Goddammit, I am crying again now. FFS woman! Get it together.

We ended up finding out the sex of this baby (boy) but I keep having this weird feeling that this baby is going to be a girl and can't commit to giving away any of E's clothes.  Our local consignment shop keeps posting that they are in need of fall girls 18 mo - 2T and I have so much and can't wait to clear out space, BUT what if.....

I had to walk/waddle across campus to submit the benefits change thing to HR and confirm that no, we will not be without coverage for even a day when switching from DH's benefits to mine starting on 10/1...bc his company decided to completely fuck them over w/ a new plan starting 10/1 with a $1K deductible that resets on Jan.1 and sucks in general.  Then I got fries with lunch and they were raw. I don't usually complain, but I complained..the new ones were still raw.  Have some fucking patience, fry cooker dude.
And the ice tea and lemonade weren't working so I got a pepsi and I already had coffee and a latte today meaning too much caffeine...sorry baby.

Oh and this morning I got a bee sting on the bottom of my foot. Which makes walking even more fun.

Glad to see that the misconceptions in this thread were taken care of... I never got the flu shot before kids, but started when TTC for DD.

Right, she did say it was super early, and then, she says her doctor says he doesn't do lots of them because it's disturbing to the baby.

I was going to ask if the doctor was, like, a vet? Actually my vet sounds better than that doctor.

This just makes me AGAIN say, I don't really think she's pregnant nor a woman. A man wouldn't know this shit. A woman, who has had children, would know what an A/S is and that it's not done vaginally.

BUT. Because I'm now terrified to really say anything at all about her (even though I'm a fat cow with a soon-to-be-ripped vagina), I still vote, again, that we just all ignore or block her. I won't be able to help myself, so I am probably just going to block her.

My SIL's OB doesn't do the A/S until 28 weeks.  I always thought that was rather strange too.  Anyone else heard of OB's waiting that long for the A/S scan?

I think next tips/tricks Tuesday the STM's need to explain hygiene with a giant baby in your stomach. Seriously the logistics of just wiping at this point are as complicated as open heart surgery.

Ugh, I'm dreading this also.  I wanted DH to get rid of his sports car (not enough seats, dude!), and use that as a trade-in, but he's insisting on keeping it.  We just bought a new car last November and I still remember all the stress that went into selecting it.

I just realized today that at some point...very soon...I'm going to not be able to do it for myself any longer. What do I do? Does my husband wipe me? Please say no.
