Provider #1: OB group - Fired because I thought I wanted a water birth which they don't do
Provider #2: OB group - Fired because I thought I wanted a home birth which they don't do
Provider #3: Midwife group - Fired because they were incompetent (measuring me wrong, weighing me wrong, incorrectly reporting baby is breech)
Provider #4: OB group - Fired because the hospital they deliver at is located 1 hour away from my home - obviously I knew this going in but I needed an appointment and they were the only ones that would take me.
I want to go back to provider #2 but they won't take me because I'm too far along, I called a new provider, they wont take me because I'm too far along. I have NO idea what to do! I'm assuming I'll just have to show up at the closest ER when I go into labor & endure the stress, the annoyed looks on the nurses faces that I'm "not a patient there", etc.....
Re: Fired previous provider, 35 weeks now no OB will take me?!?!
The sad part is that she's not going to come back and answer any of these questions, judging from her post history.
@littlemissmarla
Monitoring the baby until I go into labor is the problem I'm here trying to solve. Nobody will take me so HOW am I supposed to accomplish that?
T's and P's? WTF is that?
@aliletz
The midwife group weighed me on a bathroom scale on a carpet. They measured me wrong because I had to go to the E.R. due to a fall and the OB that saw me there said I was measuring fine. The way the midwife determined I was breech was because she said the heartbeat was strongest on my left side & drew her conclusion that way.
ILoveRunning
"difficult patient" because I wanted a water birth/home birth & was getting incorrect information (through no fault of my own) from a midwife group? That's quite a conclusion to draw from the information I gave.
@ILoveRunning
Why would I want to go back to a midwife group that doesn't even know how to use a measuring tape?
@Brittany&dain
What "policies" are you referring to? I did the research - all the practices I went to got good reviews. How was I supposed to PREDICT that the midwife group couldn't use a measuring tape correctly?
Good luck, and I pity the L&D nurses that get stuck with you.

@ghostof5letters
Provider #1 - I didn't know having a water birth was an option in CT until I started researching labor
Provider #2 - The reason I left was due to their policies - so I did research them & figured out my labor would be high-stress w/them insisting on an IV, no eating/drinking during labor, high c section rate, high episiotomy rate, immediate cord clamping, encouraging anesthesia, Pitocin, birthing on your back (WORST possible position to give birth in) etc.
Provider #4 - The reason I don't want to go there is because the demographic they serve is not quite in line w/mine. They don't exactly advertise on their website "we cater mostly to low-income, welfare, single, state-issued insurance mommies and their illegitimate children" so....
@abbyful
hmmmm, I come here for help and you "pity" the nurses that get "stuck" with me?!
FUCK YOU
Also, I was saying that you are a difficult patient because you repeatedly "fire" your providers (four!). With my first, I changed providers at 20 weeks because I found that the midwives were no longer delivering and I wanted to use the hospital birthing center (midwife only, water births). I did my research and left the practice on good terms (did not fire them), found a new one that would be a better fit given my goals. I also had an initial appointment with the new practice (prior to leaving the first one) to make sure that I was comfortable with the care I would be receiving.
Prior to this pregnancy, I met with a midwife at the practice I hoped to use (moved states) and asked about policies regarding VBAC so that I would be informed about any hurdles I might encounter. There is still the possibility that I may be met with a provider I don't like (rotation of OBs) or that they try a bait and switch (common with VBACs) but I feel that I have done my due diligence.
Your biggest issue is that you jump from provider to provider without doing your homework first, and for someone interested in a natural/waterbirth, doing your homework is so important. I would never advocate for substandard care, and believe that every woman deserves to work with a provider who is open, honest, compassionate and competent. I am also really and truly sorry that you are scrambling without provider care, because you need to be seen to insure the health and well-being of both you and baby (which you and I can both agree on). But you need to meet your providers partway, and do an honest assessment to determine whether some of the difficulties you have encountered are your own doing. If you feel comfortable with the last provider, I honestly think you should reconsider them and see if it isn't too late to resume care. If you can find someone better (after doing your homework) then go ahead, but it is really late in the game and you need someone.
Researching after you start with them doesn't count. And really, who cares what demographic they serve? Are babies of low-income families somehow less worthy of proper care than your speshul spawn?
@aliletz
So pregnancy test: wait & research THEN make an appointment when I'm like.....14 weeks along? Doesn't sound like that would be the best plan.
I took hypno birthing and if there are distractions such as huge/loud families going on and on in a different language nearby, how am I supposed to concentrate on giving birth?
Holy shit, you fucking cunt. I hope you have to birth at home, get a shiny new vaganus, and immediately after that, contract a raging yeast infection, you judgmental piece of shit.
Looks like the ladies here think its ok to just allow someone to make a rude comment without defending themselves or making an equally rude comment back to the hateful individual that made the comment in the first place -
How's that working out for you in your lives?
Yup. I don't know your reading comprehension level, but it doesn't take 14 weeks to review some OB websites to find one that's in line with your preferences. I did it after finding out I was pregnant because I didn't want to use the general practice I was at.
Idiot.
@MorseBrooks
That's ONE reason, yes
Also, its 45 minutes from my house.
In another state.
It's run entirely by residents.
@MrsSinner402
you reported me? oh no! scaaarryyyy
