She's older for her class, turned 5 in October. Actually, here there are 3 years of 'kindergarten' before you go to primary school (1st grade). My class is the 2nd year, so ages 4-5.
But really, it blows my mind what kids are capable of with encouraging parents and enthusiastic teachers.

You know what's even more impressive to me than the skills? These kids are actually analyzing stuff. Thanks to our unit about gardening, they know all the different plant parts, what they are for, how cool it is that plants use photosynthesis to make food, which in turn gives us air, (leading to a discussion about all the amazing things plants do for us and our responsibility to help them) why worms and bees seem icky but they are actually really good, how to be responsible for another living thing, the list goes on. It's just so awesome how much their little brains can process.
