This past weekend my oldest son went to his senior prom. He and his girlfriend looked absolutely adorable! My daughter had her first real weekend of work and got her first real paycheck. And my youngest son finished first in the school district's foundation for education's 5k race! It was a very busy weekend with lots of major milestones for the big kiddos!
And for your viewing pleasure, here are the pics from Prom!
Today is DH's birthday! He's such a lucky duck...his two days off just happened to land over his birthday! He gets to sleep in this morning and be lazy, but then has to go with me to pre-register at the hospital then take a tour of L&D. Afterwards I'm taking him to dinner and a movie though.
I love that man so much and am so happy that he gets to have a nice day off work for his birthday...it sucks that its 37 degrees out, cloudy, and snow on the ground though...:(
At the risk of sounding like a bratty, ungrateful snob- I see my OB on Wednesday. I REALLY wish there was some reason she could take me off work now. Albeit I have a desk job, but having to get up and constantly move due to discomfort is really counter productive. I feel like I spend more of my day shifting in my chair, walking out kinks and aches and doing cat / cow stretches in random unoccupied cubes than I do actually working. And the fact that I no longer haven a boss, doesn't help either.
So I said I wasn't going to buy any more maternity clothes since I'll only be pregnant a few more weeks, but buying summer dresses that I can use for PP/nursing too doesn't count, right?? My maternity shorts/capris are starting to get uncomfortable (full panel that's too tight at the top and now just cuts into my belly), so wearing skirts & dresses is soooo much more comfortable.
When we went into the cloth diaper store this weekend, the woman who owns it was working the front counter and she had her three month old with her. She was busy chatting with us about what we still needed, etc, and her baby got hungry, so she pulled up her shirt and started to feed the baby. I thought DH's head was going to explode. He's not against it, he understands and respects it, but there was no move to try and make it covered, no heads up, no nothing, just a sudden boob. He turned rather pink and took C over to look at some toys. Made me giggle inside.
He also then wanted input on the wet bag that'll go into the diaper bag and chose a circuit board one (he's a computer programmer). It's the first time he's shown any interest in this process other than saving money, so it was really sweet .
I was finally able to buy out the rest of our registries (I was waiting on Amazon, which you have to be within a month of your EDD to get the 15% off). I'm so excited to have everything purchased!!
This hormone crash sucks. I'm angry at me body for not keeping the baby in there. I'm sad that he's not home with me. I feel this overwhelming guilt like there's something I could've done. I hate that I'm not home with my family. I hate that we have to be separated right now. And I hate that I feel this way because things could be so much worse. And I keep reminding myself be thankful that things aren't worse then they are.

oh, honey, I'm sorry you are feeling this way. It's part of the hormone thing, so no need to hate yourself. Don't be angry you couldn't keep him in, you and the medical team did what you could. It must be so hard to be separated from everyone. Hugs.
Double hugs!!!

I am waiting for this too. Joining Amazon Mom in a couple days then on May 16th I can start making those discounted purchases hopefully! Did it work out pretty easily? Tagging @Pepper6 because sometimes my quotes don't tag.
@Mztwilson - Our hearts go out to you. I know you are swirling with emotions but LO is being cared for and hopefully you can find it in your heart care to for yourself as well while you're healing now. It wasn't what you wanted, but your body still went through bootcamp and you're all alive and well to tell us about it. Please hug yourself from us. You really do deserve it even if you don't feel like that right now. So many thoughts and prayers for you that this period goes by so quickly! xoxo

Yeah it was pretty easy. When you click the banner thing to redeem the discount, it brings up the list of your eligible items (sold by Amazon only), you add them to your cart from that page.
Queesstioooon: I want to buy shorts for this summer since I'll be home on leave and won't need to dress for work. I know last years shorts will not fit. I see some low panel shorts on old navy maternity, would that be ok? I don't want full panel because of the extra layer/sweat, but I know it will take some time for my belly to not look 6 months preggo (so i've been told).
What do you all think? Low panel will be comfortable? Don't get maternity? Regular drawstring? I just want to be comfortable but still somewhat put together looking when I go out in them.
@mtzwilson big hugs girlie. Be kind to yourself. You are the best mama your little one has. You did a great job keeping him in as long as you could just as you're doing a great job taking care of him now.

I would go for a few pairs of the low panel. I got one pair of low panel denim shorts and a few low panel capris that I fully intend to wear all summer. I don't want to have to stress about fitting into my old ones right away.
@BMaidPlanner I second the fold over jersey skirt. I just ordered two and they are amazing. I will be living in them this summer. Great find @mullenem!
Does anyone know if you have to join Amazon Mom before you get your email about the completion coupon? Or can you wait and do it afterward?
@mtzwilson, hang in there. You did the best you could. We're here if you need to talk!! Hugs!
The normal registry completion discount is 10%, but if you are an Amazon Mom member (which is free if you already have amazon prime), then you get 15%.
I'm bummed. Quite a few of the shows that we watched were cancelled:(
There's luckily only a few shows that I'm super sad to see go. They sure cancelled a lot of brand new ones pretty fast.
I'm glad Reign on the CW and Once Upon a Time are coming back. I hope Castle doesn't suck next season. I can't believe they've renewed Bones and The Mentalist. Both shows have really jumped the shark.
@Mztwilson - Hugs! I hope you get to bring baby home soon. Don't beat yourself up second-guessing everything. You are an awesome mom and strong for splitting your time between hospital and home!
I got married at the courthouse before DH left for Alaska (I stayed in Colorado to finish my degree) and I consider my real wedding to be the one we had a year later with all our friends and family. We did the court house thing so I could get health insurance, we don't celebrate that day at all. Only a couple people even knew we were technically married already at our real wedding.
Can't your "real" wedding be whatever the couple decides, whether that be at City Hall or a huge party/ceremony, or a random day of their choosing? Why should that be decided for them based on what other people think?
i just crossed almost everything off my to-do list! I made 15 padsicles, so now my freezer looks odd with a bunch of pads in ziplocs.
The last thing left to do is to make homemade granola bars. I made these for labor / pp last time and had a great labor, so it's more of a superstition thing on my part. Either way, they are crazy delicious.
As much as I love Bones, I think it's time for it to go too. I like Once Upon a Time too and I'm glad it's picking up again. For awhile all it did was piss me off (F you Peter Pan). @LilNunz1 is reign good? I watched the first episode but didn't really give it another chance after that.
Mztwilson - sending you big hugs. You're going through a lot right now and it's completely reasonable to have all kinds of feels! Wish we could make it better!

Did you just do pads with water and freeze them? I'm still not sure if I'm going to make padsicles. I bought some Tuck's that I plan to put in the fridge.
Then squeezed some witch hazel over the top, then a couple of drops of lavender essential oil (optional). Put into a gallon-sized ziploc and freeze.
I did this last time and was so glad I did because I had a 3rd degree tear and hemorrhoids (yay tmi!) and the padsicles were like heaven. Cold tucks were nice, but these gave a good hour or two of relief. The Tucks warmed up in like 10 minutes.
@ohyealovely It's my guilty pleasure show. I like it enough, but I love that kind of show - The Tudors, The Borgias, etc. It's not Emmy worthy
I loved the Tudors! I hope they put Reign on Netflix, I want to give it another try. My guilty pleasure is Vampire Diaries. I can't stop watching even though I think they're really reaching for story lines these days.

You should totally watch The Borgias. It is on Netflix. Very Tudor-y!

Lady, you are a friggin ROCK STAR! You had so many tough times and things that you handled like a champ this whole pregnancy, and you kept that baby cooking as long as humanly possible, don't ever doubt yourself! I can only imagine how much it sucks right now to be apart from the family, but you will all be snuggling together watching Netflix on the couch before you know it, this part is temporary. Most importantly, don't get down on yourself for feeling down, I hear it's quite the rollercoaster, and it sounds like your handling it better than most (like you've handled everything else so far!) Keep hanging in there lady, we're all rooting for a quick recovery and return home for everyone

I had my second chiropractic appointment today and I started going due to lower back pain. He has a special table that adjusts for pregnant bellies which is nice but I really don't like the cracking that happens. I'm only going to keep going because I keep reading it is good to go during pregnancy. I know there are others on the board going, do you get used to it?
@CharSamm I don't really love the cracking either, but I keep going because I've noticed a huge difference in how much it's helped my back, hip, and pelvic pain. To me, it's totally worth dealing with a few seconds of cracking to get that relief!
