@cashingn2 Yes, which is what I did with VC's comment. Yet, I'm still getting called out on being "sensitive" and "paranoid". Which is not the case.
Everyone has dropped your reaction, yet is still intentionally stirring the pot with mine even though I have dropped it. Hence why I am taking offense now. It's uncalled for.
Even though you agreed with me for half this post @rfred20 werent you the one who "needed a bump break" for like 12 hr? Maybe you really do need to step back and take a break. You really do take a lot of comments out of context as jabs at you. Seriously calm down.
You know why people let it go with Cash? Because she does whine and complain ALL THE FUCKING time like you do.
I don't whine or complain all the time. I defend myself when I am attacked, or ask for clarification if someone seems to be talking about something I said. That is not whining.

@rfred20, you're failing to see the difference between "bending over and taking it" and taking a fucking joke a rolling with it. For real, I have given many people a hard time for saying silly shit or mistyping, people have given me shit too. The difference is that we all understand HUMOR and move the fuck on. YOU are the one taking the humor out of this. Eventually, everyone will just quit talking to you because you're boring or no fun. Heaven, for example, even pokes fun at herself because she has a sense of humor. Please, get over yourself.
I don't feel like insulting my education choices I've made, or choices I plan to make for my children is humorous. Sorry.

I was gone for like 5 days.
12 hours was sarcasm, however being out April 15-17 (you posted on the 14th and 18th) is not a bump break. Seriously you are not possibly the only woman on our board with no college education. My post was simply telling you to chill out. But clearly I must be attacking you too.

You took what I said as an insult. I NEVER insulted you. I stated a fact. Admissions committees may judge a child who was homeschooled by someone sans college degree. That is a FACT. That is NOT an insult. FACTS are not meant as insults. If you choose to take it as an insult that is because you internalized a fact and felt offended by it because it applies to your personal situation. That doesn't mean that it was meant as an insult.
Obviously your lack of college education is something that you are a bit sensitive about, and I get that. But, if you took what I said as an "insult to you and the choices you plan to make for your child", yes, you are being too sensitive. Even if you don't like the facts surrounding a situation that doesn't make them any less true, and it doesn't mean you can hide your head in the sand and pretend what I said doesn't have a modicum of truth.

Does the study say anything about the amount of children who go to college from home schooling vs. public/private school? I'm curious about that.
There are a few flaws with this study design and therefor extrapolation from it, and it's actually not applicable to my comment surrounding parent education. Actually, it is in that it assumes that one of the reasons children are homeschooled is "higher education levels".

There are also caveats I would draw around these percentages but the topics are giving me a headache. I will say, broadly, that when you compare homeschool numbers to public school numbers you are cherry picking a homogeneous population from a heterogeneous population which causes an inflation of results for parameters that are stronger within the homogeneous population.

Rfred. hey girl hey, nobody knew you didn't have a degree. But, since you don't, I'd consider what vcgolf said. Maybe see what training you could get or get a homeschool group together to be taught by a certified professional.
UO it's too nice out to be bumping.
Oh and most people are aware that wikipedia requires sources and no original writing. What you do is you click on the footnote next to what you want to know and read the original source. The more you know.
Woo-hoo Canada is number 10, though I am surprised.
@vcgolfnyc your Stats talk gives me the smiles. From someone with a Econ /stat background and analytical job I heart you!
@megsswm LOL thanks! I felt like I was talking jibberish and just stopped making sense so I'm happy to hear that is not the case. Part of my job is to critique/analyze/challenge pre-clinical and clinical trial design/methods/results/interpretation and it's hard to turn that off socially.

Since we all love mean girls and this is relevant to the topic, I thought I would just drop this here. This is from the beginning when Cady was telling about homeschoolers. These are the ones she describes as the super religious homeschoolers from the movie (I am watching the movie right now).
@rfred20 sometimes I bend over, sometimes I lay on my back like a turtle on its shell(because I'm lazzzzy, DF's a champ.) sometimes upside down..... I hope you bend over sometimes too, otherwise you're boring. YAY to bender over-ers(and my made up words)

I had said in the thread previously that I don't have a degree. And I planned on getting training/education prior to teaching LO, and any future children if we decided to go this route.
I live in AZ and our charter school offers courses listed above. Even the district school offers classes at the community college in culinary arts and other vocations. I don't think you should blanket statement all schools in AZ.

Except Obamacare doesn't help everyone... Just sayin'.
Something needed to be done, but the legislation that was passed was a disaster.
I agree. Reform was necessary, but I don't think it should be mandated that people have coverage, among other issues with the ACA. And it's definitely not "affordable" by any stretch of the word.
Except Obamacare doesn't help everyone... Just sayin'.
Having health insurance helps everyone. The only thing that's better is single payer. Objectively, end of story. Nitpick it all you want (like the school thing - hmm looks like I picked a great example) but it does.
Yes, because Canada's health care system is the example of perfection ... Come on now.

Compared to people dying and going bankrupt because they can't afford medical bills, I would say it's pretty close to perfection.
