@CandC13 37 weeks is considered full term, but there's a big movement these days to not "evict" baby until 39 weeks at the earliest. It's best for baby
I really could have sworn that when DS was born in 2009 "full term" was 36 weeks. I think they just changed the standard in the last couple of years to include the "steps" of pre-term, full term and post term.
The birth center I went to back then would take patients between 36 and 42 weeks. Any + or minus from that and ut was a high risk birth that required hospitalization. I think that is still their standard of care...
I'm so sleepy. DH and were up late watching Lost and my 5:45 alarm comes too soon.
I feel ya. Now that I'm on maternity leave, I'm home with YDS all day and he's been waking up lately around 5 am and stays up til about 11:30-12. I'm about ready to pass out.
*** That's rough! How old is he? Thankfully DS sleeps 8:00-6:45ish. I need that time to myself!
I'm jealous! YDS is a little over 1 (15 months?) Since his middle of the night diaper accidents (and now that Mama's home all day) his schedule is thrown off. Ugh...let's switch places for a bit. Haha.
*** I'm actually sad cuz up until a month ago (when he got his big boy bed), DS was a 6pm-7am sleeper. It was glorious. So this 2 hour later baloney has me slightly bummed
6pm?! How'd you get your DS to go to sleep at 6?! Omg what I wouldn't give for that sleep routine.the earliest mine would sleep is 7:30-8.
*** Around 5 months he decided that's when he was ready for bed. It's been a great 24 months of that schedule.
Oh and when I said "post the eviction notice" I did not mean that I intended to induce...its more of a time when I can take a deep breath and tell this LO "you are done...get out :-)" in the most lovingly way possible. If full term is 37 wks then this announcement will have to wait another week....
Where are all of these randos coming from?! Names, weight, other ridiculousness.... I thought they would slow down until the drive by "I had a baby" posts.
I assume people are on maternity leave or have reached the point of being completely checked out at work, and they are suddenly like "holy crap! I'm about to have a baby. Is anyone else about to have a baby? Whoah! Lookie here! There is a whole board of people having babies the same month as me. Let me ask all these strangers every random unimportant question I can think up because... what else is there to do until the baby comes out??" ;-)

"Or maybe they will explain everything they have talked about the last 8 months so I don't have to do any of the leg work myself"
Had a check up today. MW asked if I had any questions or concerns. I just told her I wanted to be sure LO wasn't breech after my experience with DS. She felt around my tummy a little and said she didn't *think* so but did go ahead and have me schedule an u/s at my next appointment (next week! I'm at the every week stage now!). I feel little bad because it is basically an unnecessary scan just to make me feel better, but I do get to see LO again next week! Yay!
I totally had an unnecessary u/s today. Baby wouldn't hold still long enough to get the heartbeat for more then like 2 seconds with the doppler. It was clear she was totally fine and just wouldn't hold still, i even told the doc i'm pretty sure she does MMA in her sleep because she doesn't ever stop moving. But it was really nice to hear that she's still head down.
Also my kid will not give up a good face shot. I've had several different people try at different times. It's the one thing i'd really like to have too.
Had my 36 week appointment today and my NP kept saying stuff like "oh, I can't believe you're still pregnant! You must be so ready for her to come out! Have lots of sex and go walking!" It was nice to hear baby has dropped and is head down, but terrifying that my NP thinks I'm ready to go into labor at not even 36 weeks!
They're also taking me out of work in two weeks instead of letting me go til my due date, which is awesome but I'm nervous to tell my boss I'm leaving two weeks earlier!
Dammit! I was about to verbally lay that chick's ass out.....-_-
Anyways. Tonight was interesting. Went to my cousin's senior dance show. It made me miss dancing soooo much. But, on a weird note I was in the school restroom and some lady started singing "and I am telling you" from dream girls. LOL um. Ok. Guess that's what happens when you enter a school for the arts.
Starting at 34 weeks, I have to get a weekly 'biophysical profile' at the sonogram office. Anyone else had this? Just wondering how long the apt is likely to run and what we will see.
I wish I were further along. I'm at the point where I can barely walk bc of the discomfort in my low back and pelvic area. Even laying down isn't helping. Once I reach that 37 week mark, which is in 9 days, I'm cool with him deciding to make his entrance into the world.

It depends on how busy the office is. I get either a BPP or growth check every week at my perinatologist. The ultrasounds usually aren't longer than maybe 10 mins I'd say. I guess it would also depend on if LO is being cooperative or not
I'm randomly watching the episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians where Kourtney watches a water birth and I'm freaking out.
Water births aren't so bad IMO it eased the pain (not tremendously) for me and just felt soothing. But the clean up's a bitch.
Yeah, if I wasn't doing the whole hospital and epidural thing, I'd do a water birth. It's just now any somewhat realistic birth scene on TV makes me realize what's coming!
And, who does the cleanup?
Lol go for what works for you! But it's def a mind blowing experience regardless of location and atmosphere. A human being is about to come out of your body. Let that sink in for a bit
Clean up depends on where you have the baby. If you do a water birth at a birthing center, they clean it up. If it's at home, whoever volunteers to do it will do it. My midwife and her assistants were gracious enough to help out DW. I had to learn the hard way that it's a smart idea to use a pool/tub liner in the tub too! LOL.
Today, a brutal combination of pregnancy brain + idiot IT support caused me to lose 2 days worth of work on the one last project I need to finish before I can officially start leave. (
Baby Claire moves a ton at night, I'm full out alien belly with jabs and rolls. But the second DH puts his hand on my belly she stops altogether. So odd.
The exact same thing happens with my baby (who also happens to be named Claire ) Dh reaches over to touch her and feel some of the movement and it's almost like she is playing freeze tag or something. She completely stops.
I have been without A/C in Texas for this entire week. It seems like we keep getting passed off with a random note or email that says "we can't fix it today, be there tomorrow." I'm sitting here at 1 am sweating, can't sleep... How do I find out my rights as a renter? Can I go make demands down at the apartment office bc going through the weekend like this ain't gonna cut it!
Oh man! Go raise hell in the office! I don't know about renters rights but I'm sure there has to be something there (like maybe they need to knock off some rent for the downtime). I'm in San Diego where it has only been in the 70s and not humid at all, and I've been so hot thanks to this tiny human I've had the AC on all the time lately. i can't imagine TX with no AC!
So, I'm a tiny person (5'0 and just small besides my belly) and my belly almost touches the steering wheel when I drive because I have to pull the seat so far up to reach the pedals. I was told I should stop driving if I didn't have a minimum of 10 inches between my belly and the steering wheel. Has anyone else heard that?
Pregsomnia question: if it's 4am now and I have to leave the house at 7, should I try to "sleep" or should I go watch three episodes of Orange is the new Black season 2...

If you can't go back asleep, you might as well enjoy your time awake. I wish I would have thought of OITNB.
The power went out last night just before 8:30. Looks like I missed some entertainment last night. Our power is still out, too. Try getting your toddler ready for the first "water day" of the summer in the dark. That was fun.
Also, we're the first house in a group without power so our neighbors on one side have power. Boo.

What? I've never heard that. I'm 4'10 and I think I have about 2 inches left between belly and steering wheel. This concerned me last pregnancy, but it never got to be a problem. I'm in a different vehicle now and I think my belly is a little bigger. While I'm slightly concerned, I can't just stop driving. Definitely never heard of 10 inches though, and no one at my doc's office has ever mentioned it. I would think if that's a thing, they would probably ask me about it.
Thanks for all your concern ladies! I'm finally feeling less crampy this morning. Hoping that was just a side effect of the cervical check and her telling me I was contracting. I tried to take it easy yesterday, but that proves to be a very difficult task for me!
I don't think the steering thing just applies to pregnancy. It is always suggested the have plenty of space between you and the steering wheel for the airbag to deploy if needed. Having a big belly in the way makes that a little more difficult! I believe the rule is to keep 10 inches between your chest and steering wheel, not necessarily your belly/steering wheel.

I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you a thousand more.
my next door neighbors are driving me crazy with their kids in the road and very little supervision. this morning as i'm leaving to drive my son to school, their not-quite-three year old is sitting three feet from the road playing - which is totally unnecessary b/c their front yard is plenty big, and they have about half an acre behind the house.
not only that, but there is NO PARENT in the front yard with them. if i were a creeper (which we've actually had in this neighborhood that tried to snatch a much older boy), it would have been NO PROBLEM to just stop and grab him.
so on my way home, i slow down to about 18 MPH and i'm looking down the middle of the road to see if there is anyone there. out of the corner of my eye, i see him take a step into the road and slow WAY DOWN...his dad was all the way by the front door yelling at him.
if he had been running full force as toddlers can, i would have hit him. even going 15-18 MPH. i want to scream. i gave the dad a dirty look, but i'm going to have a talk with them later once i've cooled my tits a bit - i'm done having a living obstacle course (their daughter who is almost 4 and their dogs are part of that) on the way to my house.
ETA: sorry for the rant - my mom isn't here yet to complain to about it...
I haven't felt so "far behind" all pregnancy in this group until right about now when people are coming up on 37 weeks and prepping to have their babies so soon. How the hell do I still have over 7 weeks left?? And I thought waiting on the sex scan was going to be the longest part of my pregnancy.

Amen, girl. I'm due a day after you, according to our tickers, so I totally get it. I keep reading about contractions and I'm all "Should I be feeling something?" before I remember I just turned 32 weeks.

The reason I ask is I told MIL she should try to come to one if she wants and she may try to get out of work if she can actually see the baby... but I dont want her to really mess with her schedule if its not worth it. But if its only a few min she might be able to get in and out and to work on time too.
NBR Vent: Shipping cats from WA to GA and the person dropping them off at shipping for me says that the crates are too small (even though both cats voluntarily fit into one small crate during my road trip from WA to AZ). They're making me buy brand new crates for $75 a piece. I'm fucking livid. I know my crates are just fine for the cats. FUCK DELTA so hard.
You can break your tailbone while giving birth?!? Someone give me a paper bag to breathe into STAT!
Convo with DH after this comment (backstory: we have repeatedly joked about the idea of push presents because we think it is ridiculous):
Me: If I break my butt pushing out this baby, I totally deserve a present!
DH: I will get you a donut.
Haha! But yes it can happen and it sucks. I didn't even break but 3 hours of pushing had me sitting on donuts, pillows, sideways for 3 months afterwards. I think mine was just sprained or something.

Aww, giant babies are awesome! I say this because that's a majority of what this donor makes apparently -_- giant babies.
