Grocery store and maybe watch a movie on the couch
What federal holiday do you dislike the most?
Being that I have kids in school I hate the Presidents' Day , Veterans Day, mlk holidays. No disrespect to their meaning....I just hate that they don't have school and most of the day cares close. It's a PITA and they come to work with me
I don't watch a ton of TV, but my husband really likes Discovery and History so I guess that's what I'll go with, even though I don't pay attention to his shows, usually.
As in, if I had to choose one to compete in, in my current physical condition and with my current training? Uhhm...maybe downhill skiing because I can kind of do that. Or curling? Because even though I've never done it, maybe my teammates could help me out enough not to look like a complete idiot.
Or if I could train and compete in any? I'd LOVE to be an ice skater or half pipe snowboarder.
What does your dream home look like?
Edited because I forgot to include a question AGAIN. guh.
@HBirdie, I appreciate your thorough response. I meant if you were forced to compete, what event would you do (in your current state, etc.), so thanks for handling that.
My dream house is AMAZING! It's mostly underground but has an entire side of floor-to-ceiling windows plus skylights as needed. The rest of our roof is made of grass, and our goats and chickens hang out up there.
It's an open concept space with sleeping cubbies and the most fabulous kitchen you've ever seen. All in all, it's about 1800sq ft, so my dream family of 6 has enough room to live but we're not accumulating lots of stuff.
We also have a separate building that is connected to the main house via underground tunnels. The other building is our storehouse and classroom. The storehouse has enough water, food, and gear to keep our family comfortable for at least six months should the SHTF. This building also has housing facilities for our WWOOFers and Couch Surfers, and other folks who stay with us from time to time.
Our house sits on many, many acres, and is surrounded by a fence made of used shipping containers. Our fence may or may not be topped with razor coil and broken bottles fixed in a decorative layer of cement.
And now I think I've outed myself as being a little crazy.
How many drinks does it take to get you tanked (in your current state)?
I actually haven't been drunk since before I was pregnant. Depending on what I was drinking amd how fast, probably 3-4. Although I had 2 glasses of wine in quick succession earlier and may have had a good buzz on. Prior it was probably 5-7.
If you could have an exotic pet what would it be?
Edited because words are hard and I forgot the dash and 34 drinks would make me look like a lush.
Oh man, where to start? I was assigned to room with L my freshman year of college. L was nice enough, but she had some serious unresolved issues that made living with her tricky. This girl would skip all her classes and then sob about how she was failing, have screaming matches with her mom on the phone, was constantly in a huge fight with someone, and had constant HUGE mood swings. Little things constanly set her off; i never knew what to expect. We spent a lot of time together that first year because she had a small group of friends, and because she was often with me, so did I. I think the worst, though, was when another girl came to talk to us in our dorm room and mentioned that she had been hanging out with this guy a lot...after she left, L flipped out. This guy was the same one that L was sleeping with but not dating. Things in our room started flying at the door where the other girl had just left. Books, her alarm clock, anything she could get her hands on flew at the wall/door, including her phone, which shattered. After that she dissolved in a puddle of tears on the floor. We didn't sleep that night because she was so upset. That was probably the worst, but we had several no-sleep nights due to her being upset about various things.
The next year we were each going to get individual rooms...we got a letter the week before moving back that they didn't have enough and had put us together again. We were still friends, although we each would have preferred to live individually. Later that year, we had a disagreement and she moved out to live with a boyfriend. We still talk sometimes. She has since been diagnosed as bipolar and I believe is doing much better. Even she admits she must have been difficult to live with then.
ETA: I don't mean this disrespectfully in any way to anyone who deals with depression /bipolar disorder. Both are incredibly difficult to live with, I would imagine, but since she was undiagnosed and not receiving any help for her disorder, it sometimes made living with her a challenge.
Whew! That got long. If you could have any super power, what would you choose?
I don't use it much, so it's still the second disc of JK Rowling's adult novel "A Casual Vacancy." DH and I attempted to listen to it on a roadtrip but it was wicked boring and we never finished it.
What TV series could you watch over and over again?
Yes. Lots of illegal things. Some I can list over the interwebz and some I cannot. I had a fake ID when I was 19 (that said I was 24... yeah right) and so I drank A BUNCH under the age. My parents knew about it and once I got a call from my mom while I was at work (home from college) and she goes "Kimberly, how comfortable are you with your fake ID?" and I said 50/50 and she goes "Well I forgot the beer at the store (we were leaving town for a camping trip) so can you pick up 6 cases of Miller Light for me?" Needless to say I wasn't that confident!
I don't know if it counts as a toy, but I had a bright blue folding chair that had my name on it, and I'd park my ass in it daily at 3 or 4 to watch Scooby Doo. I have very fond memories of that chair.
As a child, were you ever lost/separated from your family while out and about? Tell us that story please.
I LOVE BOARD GAMES! This is hard... Probably Taboo. But I also love Quelf, Cards Against Humanity, and several others. We're dorks and our game collection is extensive.
I love staying in when it's gross outside and watching marathons of favorite TV shows or movies. H & I discovered LOST during season 5, so we had many marathons getting caught up, and I have such fond memories of that.
Ice water! Soooo good. But 2% milk is a close second- I go through a gallon (by myself, for the most part, because DH doesn't drink much) in about 5 days. ">
What's your favorite outfit to put your baby in?
Right now mine is this little white onesie with foxes on it, and a matching grey vest with a matching fox.
My mom makes this amazing chicken enchilada soup. I was actually over today and she was making it, so I called DH and told him he was on his own for dinner. It's SO good!
Also, I ate tons of ramen growing up and I still eat it for lunch fairly often.
This might be a little heavy. The moment my parents told me my brother was going to go to prison. I just cried on the couch like a pansie. I wish I would have thrown, broken or done something dramatic rather than letting the moment pass me. (I was like 15... so it wasn't really "childhood").
What is the first thing you do when you open your eyes in the morning?
Freakin' You've Got Mail and The Wedding Planner. I feel like these two movies are on tv all the time and I love them. It doesn't matter than I own them, I'll still watch them all the way through. :P
I regret not kicking more ass (in an educational/teacher way) while on a Fulbright grant to teach English. If I could do it over again, I would be an awesome teacher for those students.. but at the time, I didn't have the confidence and necessary skills to teach university EFL classes to 75+ students at a time with little/no resources at a uni that didn't even have an English department (or other English teachers).
It used to be sitting out and eating/drinking in the early evening with friends. I love how summer makes everyone happy. Now, I am really looking forward to taking Amelia to the beach/swimming.
Are you planning to take LO on a summer holiday this year? If so, where? (My husband wants to travel back to the UK to see family, I am hoping for a trip somewhere warm ... Maybe Hawaii using my husband's airmiles - the only advantage to him traveling every week!!)
