Here's my SS moment... I'm finally feeling baby a lot more! It's still flutters, but it's much more frequent now, especially when sitting or laying. ....I just needed to mention this because I feel so behind everyone else being due at the end of June
Edit: maybe it's AW-ish? Either way...
June '14 February Siggy Challenge
Picture of DH and I on top of Mayan ruins, Altun Ha, in Belize
@chickpea912 dang! I so thought that was a picture of you two bc of the February challange! And I was totes jealous that is always how I will picture you though.
Sorry! I didn't like the February one, so I just used that photo as if it was us (or a favorite romantic literary couple, which I wish the siggy topic was). But that's okay. You can imagine I'm married to Jonny Lee Miller. I don't mind.
My SS post is that I'm working from home today because we are having another(!) snowstorm and I am watching A Baby Story and feeling LO kick and it is all a little overwhelming lol
@letsgobowlingx, hated Mac and Me. My family has a whole embarrassing story behind this movie about me. I'll spare the details. It goes along with my irrational fear of aliens that I admitted to awhile ago. Ugh...terrible!
My friends and fam who came to our reveal yesterday were saying how I haven't gained any weight and my bump is so tiny. Whether they meant it or were just being nice, I totally ate up all the compliments I could get and just said thanks! I will continue to happily accept all compliments as i'm sure I'll need them come May and June. The truth is I have gained weight, but it's in the normal range according to weight calculators for 20 weeks. I was totally flattered!
Based on the comments I've been hearing other people get, I am super lucky and I wish everyone was surrounded by such tactful people. All you ladies are gorgeous mamas, and I'm passing compliments on to you all!
So I was lurking on 2nd tri and saw a question about a possible link between u/s and autism and the OP got somewhat flamed for believing this idea. Now I realize that correlation does not equal causation, but I also saw this article over the summer and it has kind of stuck with me especially considering some of the research was done by scientists from Yale and studies were published in an actual medical journal. Now I am not one to get on the "diet coke/hair dryers/<insert whatever theory of the week here> causes cancer" but has anyone else ever heard this or are you concerned about it?
@MegK82 I agree I don't think 1 u/s would be the cause either. I realize there might be multiple causes of autism. Just wondering if lots of u/s over course of pregnancy could impact? I feel like there's still do much research to be done in this area. Thank you for your response.

Maybe ultrasounds are why so many of us are having velociraptors...
I read the article you shared. It seemed very fear-mongering, for the purpose of selling a book. If you're concerned about it, I would go look at the original studies themselves and talk to your OB about them.

Hi June ladies! I am from July but I lurk on here because I have also been given a June dd as well- regardless I just wanted to say that I am heartbroken over the recent news on the boards and I think it's a beautiful thing how much you all support each other and the hour of silence was truly special. That's all best of luck to everyone here
My husband is crazy if he thinks DVS are cool initials only because of the word is sounds like. Come on its gonna be a boy he doesn't need another excuse.
Warning: SS moment (although this is what this thread is for, right?!)
I've been posting on here since I found out I was pregnant in October and never really made a formal introduction. Like PP- by the time I realized I probably should, it was kind of late and seemed silly. Butttttt, since this post is here, Hi Beautiful Ladies! I'm Lindsay! I live in New York (upstate, not the city) with DH and fur babes (German shep mix and 2 cats). DH and I were married in May 2012 and are both teachers. I teach part time at a local college because its almost impossible to get a full-time teaching job here right now and I sub the rest of the week at DH's school. DD is June 10th for a little girl and I'm so excited.
I love LOVE being a part of June 2014- I was originally supposed to be a May mommy and got pushed back and I'm so glad because this month rocks.

I'm glad my husband hasn't thought of that yet, because he'd be all over it!
My random thoughts for today:
I need to learn how to make chicken broth, because I love the broth from good chicken noodle soup (not canned), but I don't like celery, only sometimes like onions, and pretty much always think the chicken tastes dry. But I seriously want to just drink the broth from the soup my husband brought home.
I have a pile of exams to grade and I don't want to do it. And I'm not going to tonight, which is going to make tomorrow night AWFUL, since grades have to be entered by 9am on Wednesday. And I know how much I'm going to hate myself tomorrow, but that's not enough motivation to do it tonight.

Where did said soup come from? It could be made from chicken bouillon, in which case all you do is boil water and drop the little cube in. I never make homemade chicken broth because I love the broth bouillon makes, which is really the same as saying I love salt.

SS: I got to meet and talk to Iron Chef Morimoto last night. We talked pregnancy, raw fish, beer and he told me in July he'll have me sit at the sushi bar and prepare me some great sushi haha.
@LEO2010 where in NY? I grew up in Plattsburgh (Clinton county) so just wondering if you're up that far!
My SS comment is - The carpet installation guys are here and managed to break a light in my hallway within the first 30 minutes. I'm not going to tell DH (it was an accident, and they are going to buy me a replacement before they leave) but come on, guys. I can only imagine what's happening to the furniture they have to move around in the bedrooms. Please - give the pregnant chick a break.
@letsgobowlingx - that is awesome! I'm very jealous. I would have wanted to try all the food, too.
@abastian00 - I'm always mesmerized by your wedding picture. Where was that shot taken?
My random question for you ladies today - are you any more precautious with the bad weather?
I never like driving in the snow, but you know, this is New England, it's a way of life. But this whole winter, every time it snows or is predicted to snow, my coworkers are all "Stay home, you're pregnant, you can't drive in this! Baby's safety comes first!"
I think they are being a little bit crazy... but we are supposed to get 6-10 inches starting tomorrow morning until about 1:00, so right through the morning commute. Are they on to something?

@lest12 - aw shucks, thanks! It was taken at our venue - the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City. The owner of the building used to be a decorator, so has an insane collection of beautiful, old, random stuff. That was taken in a hallway filled with lampshades and bases - and with some incredible lighting by our superb wedding photographers. It's hard for me to be modest, I'm pretty obsessed with this shot too

I am totally more cautious. We bought a new house that we're still working on that is about 20 minutes from where we currently live and I refused to leave the house yesterday to go there even though DH could have gotten a lot done. Because we're expecting ice overnight, I told him if he wants to work on it during our potential (well, likely) snow day tomorrow, we're going tonight and getting snowed in.
Thanks, @mommyp710! I guess now isn't actually the time to be a hero or martyr where travel and ice is concerned.
Also, Celeste: Precautious isn't actually a word. Oops.
@abastian00 - Cool story and SUCH a cool picture! Just so different, too. I really love it. (And not to be a total creep but please feel free to share any other cool pics!)
Honestly @lest12, I'm more concerned about the other idiots out there driving than I am about my own driving. People are stupid when there's bad weather and to me it is just not worth the risk!
SS/AW - Not sure what this falls under but for all the June 4th Mamas out there....we are exactly 4 months from our DD. I'm not sure if I should be scared or excited??
June 2014 - June Siggy Challenge - Favorite Hottie
Honestly I can't even get upset at that post because it's so ridiculous. I find it hard to believe it is in any way, shape, or form someone's legitimate opinion.
Also, just had a student mention his dad was upset about the coke commercial and I told him it was silly to be upset. In America, people speak different languages so there's no need to get upset about it. It scares me some of the viewpoints kids hear at home...granted his dad probably doesn't appreciate my viewpoint, but oh well

I can't even get started on the ridiculous uproar over that commercial! I forget sometimes that as many languages as we have in this country, we have opinions - even ass backwards ones
I finally looked up the coke commercial after hearing so much about it. I don't get what's to be upset over... I thought it was just meaning we have so many people from so many cultures and many different languages obviously.

Drop Dead Fred was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. That and Little Monsters.
Now that you mention it, I think I might have subway for lunch.
