THIS.  I'm hard of hearing, and hearing tests/hearing aids aren't even covered by most insurance plans.  You can get a vision add-on, but not one for hearing?  I don't get it at all.  And of course hearing aids cost thousands...

What about a 1-year-old boy in shorts and socks with no shirt? I agree with @Kate070. I feel like it's subconsciously sexualizing something that's not there.

My thoughts exactly, @pandadair.  At that age I really don't see how there's a difference between little boys and little girls.

Also, for plain stripes/polka dots sheets, we just got them separate from any sets at Target.  I can't remember if it was a pack with both in, or if each sheet was in a separate package.  I don't know about the rest of the baby stuff, but I love those elephants. 

There's a game called Achievement Unlocked with elephants like that, and another shorter sillier one by the same designer that I can't remember the name of offhand, with elephants in that boxy cartoon design.  I don't know if they come from other sources too, but that's my primary association with them.  It was an awesome funny game, so I love those elephants.

My lame late-to-the-game UO: I don't particularly care about Justin Bieber, but like two things about him:  It's fun to sing (by which I mean deliberately butcher) his Baby song when singing to my kid, and the term 'belieber.'  DH sometimes says he likes this or that Bieber song, so I'll tease him and ask if he's a belieber.  I love how ridiculous that word is.  (Although, in general, I kinda hate the whole idea of fans giving themselves a group name.  Can't you just stick with nerd or geek?)

That's not fair, I'm predisposed to liking this because it's purple (my favourite)! I think it actually does look good but I wouldn't enjoy it every day. The pattern would start to freak me out sooner or later.

It's only on one wall---Thank God because it took MH FOREVER to do it. We are doing some of the decor in the nursery in chevron but just little accents. And that's the only chevron in the house. DD has a polka dot room. It's amazing.

I need a picture of the polka dots!

1. I actually love twitter, but only use it professionally for my classroom.

2. I don't know if this is UO or bitchfest Monday...but kids are in too many damn sports and activities! These that also start being select leagues in 2nd grade. WTF?! Then parents will say my child needs help reading etc what can I do- uh pry not have him/her go to practices 4+x a week and get a damn book in their hands. Not everyone is pro material ya gotta have a plan B

This. So much so. Dental health is extremely important, it determines a lot when it comes to your overall health. Many dental issues and diseases have been found linked to and cause of major health issues and diseases elsewhere in the body. Why on Earth wouldn't health insurance companies catch on and start including it, as well as making it a priority.

Re: nuts and chocolate -- I hate nuts in cookies. Absolutely hate. It is reviling to find something crunchy in an otherwise delicious cookie. Oh and raisins. Why would any self-respecting cookie have raisins in it? If you are going to put a raisin, put in cranberries instead. White chocolate is nasty, except when it is drizzled over kettle corn.

Currently, a lot of my family and friends are pregnant. I can't stand that they post on FB stupid weekly updates as to what their baby is now doing on the inside or weekly bump pictures or turning everything into something about baby. I is getting ridiculous when something NBR gets turned into an AW moment: "We went out on a date tonight; I want sushi but I can't because I'm preggggggnannnnnnttttt. OMG LoOk aT mE nAo!11eleven!!" I get it. You are pregnant and excited. But I don't need daily reminders that you are pregnant and not everything is about your belly/baby.

I know I'm late and I can't remember if I've mentioned it before, but it still irks the heck out of me.

UO:  I hate when people use the anecdotal "I know X people who did [insert ill advised behavior here] and they all turned out fine."  Yep.  Lots of people have survived a lot of behavior that we now know to be unsafe in the past.  The reason we know it to be unsafe now is because lots of people also DIDN'T survive it.  You don't know those people because they're dead.  And because of the stigma against talking about infant/child mortality in our society, chances are you wouldn't have heard about it even in situations where that person was a close relation.

After my daughter died, I can't tell you how many friends and family members wrote us letters describing their own losses; losses we had never heard about before for family members and friends' children we didn't even know had existed.  I deliberately break with "tradition" and talk about my daughter as much as I can because I'm terrified of the idea that someone in the future who is very close to me wouldn't know who she is.
