So here's my first- I hate seeing pictures of baby girls with no shirts on! Unless they're just running around in a diaper they need something up top! A friend had her daughter do a cake smash session for her first bday and had a full out tutu on and leggings and she looked really cute- but nothing on her too half- if you don't care about her getting cake on the tutu or leggings why care if she gets cake on a little onesie! I looked through each picture since they were cute pictures but I pointed it out to my hubby on each one that it was irking me.
my UO is that i'm not a fan of 3D ultrasounds. they freak the crap outta me. anyone remember mine? come one. that was terrifying in 2D, imagine that crazy jack-o-lantern face in 3D?! that's not to say i think every 3D US is horrific, because there have been some cute ones floating around. but i'll forever remember the ones that were posted around the 12wk mark before real skin and adorable facial features... ya. i even sceenshot a couple and kept them on my phone in case people wanted to know what my baby really looked like. (they've since been deleted *shutter*)
call me old fashioned, but i wanna see my baby's 3D face in real life, i don't need a sneak preview.

I agree. I mean some of the pics are really cute and all but a shirt wouldn't be a big deal. My thing is people putting Hal naked pics of their baby girls or little girls on Facebook or whatever social media you use. I have a friend who constantly post her 2 daughters in the tub. They are adorable little girls and it doesn't really affect me but I just think about all the Pervs out there. Maybe I watch to much SVU but I don't like it! I know going through photo albums when I was little I had the same pics but they were not online. Maybe there is not much difference but my pics are at home.
Nuts and chocolate?! YES PLEASE! Hershey with almonds, Mounds, peanut M&M's. Yum. I love chocolate so much. I like them together, but maybe I'm just plain nuts.

I was just thinking of this exact thing this morning. I wanna be surprised and see if she looks more like me or DH.
I don't think I've ever done a UO before...

Why baby girls specifically? It's not like they have boobs to cover or anything yet.
Met my soul mate October 2011 ~ Married August 2012
I really didn't know there was anything against taking little kids on boats. I actually consider myself pretty overprotective/overbearing and I just never thought of it as an issue until yesterday.
I've even gone as far as taking our pack n play out on the boat when DS was really young to sleep and play. It worked out awesome.
Oops.
I don't actually think there's anything wrong with taking a kid on a relatively slow, smooth boat ride. As long as you have a quality life jacket that will keep your kids head above water in the event of an accident.
It's just interesting to note where different people draw the line. Most of the time I'd tell you I want to take every possible safety precaution when it comes to my kid, but I also don't want to be that Nervous Nelly that never lets my kid do anything fun because I'm scared.
Ditto, I spent a lot of time on a boat as a baby and small child, I always had a life jacket on and I was always with family. They weren't the rock and roll/speed type of boaters either!
Sorry I am just coming back to this now. They are definitely slow moving boats. While DH and both of our fathers (and all our brothers too for that matter) are huge speed demons and nut cases when it comes to their "toys", they all know I'd kill them personally if they ever took it too far with the kids. Which they wouldn't anyway. My kids are so used to having life jackets on that it's just second nature to them at this point. Although they do look horribly miserable it, especially when they can barely walk yet... But DS used to fall asleep in my arms or in PNP even with the jacket on. They aren't allowed anywhere near the water let alone a watercraft without it. With this baby being born at the beginning of summer, though, she obviously will not be out on the boat. She will have to sit this summer out!
My UO- I hate having bigger boobs now that I am pregnant. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and went down to a small C. These DDs are killing me. Everyone keeps asking me if I hope the big boobs stay. The answer is no.
Yes, this! I was a DD my whole life. After having DD, I lost about 75 pounds and went from a 38DD to a 36D. Now the girls are getting gigantic again and I'm hating it too.
I have two (maybe) UOs - and they both have to do with Facebook.
Firstly - I hate when people use Facebook like a Pinterest board. "Sharing" recipes, home care tips, etc. is essentially the same as "pinning" them on Pinterest, but it eats up my newsfeed. Not cool. I check Facebook to find out what friends and family I don't get to talk to that often are up to - not to find a recipe for Taco Pie.
Second - folks should really fact check things before they share them on their Facebook pages. Just because someone made a nifty graphic with some info on it doesn't mean the info is true. Do your homework. Otherwise, your impassioned political diatribes don't make you sound smart - they make you sound ignorant, and they spread ignorance to all of your Facebook friends.
Also, as an aside, I think I can give some insight on the whole "treating pets as baby" thing, @AnnieA75. I have definitely been guilty of this in the past - not carrying them around in strollers or anything but definitely baby-talking and posting ridiculous numbers of pics on Facebook. It took us a really long time to get pregnant, and sometimes I felt like my dogs were going to be the only "babies" I ever had, so I definitely projected a little of my longing for a baby onto them. :P
THIS. Going off of that, I can't STAND when people post satirical articles (i.e. The Onion, The Daily Currant) as fact. I can't tell you how many people posted that damn "Kanye says he's the next Mandela" article as fact. Yes, he's a doucher, but please, fact-check your shit!
I hate having visitors right after I have my baby. I just want to rest people, we want to enjoy our baby, not sit here and chitchat with you!
I just had a talk with my family about this. My first two experiences in L&D were LONG and miserable and I had all of my family waiting. When I say all I mean both immediate, grandparents, aunts, cousins. Shut. Up. I was only 18 when I had DD and there were many complications, so people were understandably worried. DS was somewhat the same. I just do not know how to stick up for myself.
I remember after I had DS the nurse went to help me try to BF for the first time (I wasn't able to with my first) and asked my SIL, who was sitting right next to me, to step out. She responded, "Oh I work in the ER. I'm totally comfortable." Really?! Happy YOU are comfortable, ya brat. I've never had anything suck on my boob before besides your brother, so could you please not hover -.-
I've gone off on a rant now, but back to what I was trying to say... We told everyone now that for this pregnancy ONLY our parents are to be at the hospital for L&D. I need my mom there because she is comfortable in handling all the complications since she has already been through it twice with me. Other than that, immediate family will get phone calls and a scheduled time and to bring our other kids up. Outside of that NO ONE will be at the hospital. They can wait until we get home.
We were in the hospital and NICU for two weeks after DS was born and I never had a second to myself. Someone was ALWAYS there to visit and it was so overwhelming.
I don't understand why gender neutral baby stuff = animals. Specifically elephants. Why are there elephants all over everything? If you like it, great I don't judge. I just really think its strange that there's SO MANY options for elephants, and so few options for someone like me who just wanted some stripes or polka dots or something simple.
Another: I think soccer is stupid. And pretty much ever single person I know played soccer as a child. Why is soccer something that every kid has to do? Not every kid plays an instrument, or does gymnastics, or basketball. Why soccer? I don't get it. My parents signed me up for soccer for like 5 years, and I was seriously only there for the orange slices. Our kid can try soccer, but if there's no genuine interest or ability there, I'm not going to make him play just so I can call myself a "soccer mom."
On the note of people acting like their pets are kids, I understand when people who don't have kids do this. My sister annoys me with this though because she says she loves her pets "as much as she would love children" um no. Unless there's something wrong with you, you'd love your child more. When a pet dies, it's very sad but you will move on. When a child dies, it's life altering and something you can never come back from.
My UO - I don't get what the hype is all about when it comes to Zulily.
I've checked it out and have found that I get better deals and cuter stuff in stores (even specialty stores). Andplusalso I can return whatever I don't like/want/need to an actual store.
My UO: If you don't know what you're doing, you shouldn't be in charge of payroll.
I think the "policy" of "If you're 15-45 minutes late, and you want to be paid for it you have to use a full hour of personal time" is stupid. My twatwaffle office manager recently started taking over payroll, and she has NO idea what she's doing, so she automatically took an hour of my personal time without asking.
Hmm... No. If you're going to start taking people's personal time you should fucking ask. I was 1/2 hr late Tuesday because of the snow, so she took an hour of my personal time. Fuck, had I known she was going to do that, I would have slept in. Stupid.
Maybe this more deserved to be on WTF Wednesday, but it kind of fits here, right?
Ha - I have an HR person who has absolutely no clue what he's doing. He told me that FMLA is 26 weeks and Pregnancy Leave Act is 12 weeks (I don't think there is even such a thing in NY). He also told me that an HRA and an HSA are the exact same thing which is also completely wrong.
Although this actually works in my favor because he messed up big time and now they are legally obligated to give me a full 12 weeks of unpaid time off if and once I request it.
I'm not sure. It doesn't bother me when they just have a diaper on and no shirt. It's just when they're all dressed except for the top. It just kept rubbing me the wrong way when I see pictures. I would feel the way if I saw pictures of a toddler girl with no shirt on too.
My UO- I hate having bigger boobs now that I am pregnant. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and went down to a small C. These DDs are killing me. Everyone keeps asking me if I hope the big boobs stay. The answer is no.
Having big boobs SUCKS. I am a DD not pregnant. My frame is not big enough to support these stupid things. I have a small ribcage. My shoulders & neck hurt. Shirts that are cute on others look disgusting on me. Unless I am wearing a super expensive insane bra that lifts, my torso just looks fat & fatter instead of shapely.
I have been putting up with them for a years, waiting to see what would happen after childbirth, before I made any permanent decisions. But seeing as how I'm only halfway through pregnancy and they have already expanded into G or DDDD or whatever the fuck, I'm certain surgery is in my future.
Oh my. That was more like a WTF Wednesday than a UO. Sorry. Letting it out.
I just have to say I feel you. This is me exactly. I went to Nordstrom to buy a couple bras on Tuesday and found out I am now a 34G and was mortified. Hopefully they don't get any bigger….
Natural pre-preg 32G here. I'm now a 36G, so I think i'm going to need a shopping cart for them when my milk comes in It's a nightmare. I'm quite petite, but I was having dinner with my SIL and she was like "good grief! can you not hide those?!"

What about a 1-year-old boy in shorts and socks with no shirt? I agree with @Kate070. I feel like it's subconsciously sexualizing something that's not there.
Re: Twitter, I think it definitely gets misused. There are some tweets that are totally incomprehensible with all the textspeak people use to try to fit their crap into the character limit and the hashtags. But I still find it really useful. I don't have an account, I just check certain feeds like the one that updates traffic in my city and school bus cancellations/delays. Those feeds are usually the quickest way to disseminate information and I think for that kind of thing, Twitter is great.
My UO: I am not down with the chevron trend in home decor. It's everywhere and I don't get it. In small doses, it's ok but so many websites I've looked at for nursery ideas have been all chevron, all the time. No disrespect to those of you using that pattern, to each their own, I'm just not a fan.
ooooo I have an UO and I remembered it today! But I'm not sure if it is totally a UO....
My UO is that I can't take degrees from online universities (Devry, Phoenix, etc) seriously. But this is total bias on my part just from knowing/working with higher-ups who completed their degrees online and strike me as totally incompetent. It is probably relevant to add that I work in education. I'm sure that is not the case for everyone, but I have yet to have an experience which makes me feel differently (and I think there are an awful lot of pitfalls to online education).
Edited cause words are hard.
Those for-profit schools are no good. They enroll 13% of all college students but claim a whopping 46% of all student loan defaults. There have been efforts (and successes) in California to reign these places in.
That being said, I am personally very excited by the online expansion of liberal arts studies by the public universities here in California. It used to be only the vocational stuff like nursing, education & criminal justice were available online. If you wanted to to obtain liberal arts degree, you had to be in a classroom 3-5 days a week, during business hours. As a soon to be working mother, it is probably my only hope for completing my 4 year degree.
I totally get this and agree. I am working on my master's on a distance-basis from an established state school. And it's not like they stamp "EARNED ONLINE" on the diploma. It's the same degree. I just don't have to quit my job and move to get it. Win win. Only difference is I can't take "Accounting and Financial Reporting for Publicly Held Hotel Management Companies" online, yet. *shrug*
As someone who hated going to class in undergrad, I really enjoy the fact that I'm not wasting my time listening to unnecessary "class involvement" discussions and dumbass questions. We still have discussions online. I listen to lectures. I do my reading. I take proctored exams that are impossible to cheat on. Papers are just as easy to cheat on as ones you would submit in person, except I'm pretty sure even face-to-face classes require online submission of papers nowadays. And by the time I've finished it, I will also have the 3 years of professional experience I'm gaining concurrently.
My UO is that some of the names some bumpies have chosen for their unborn children make me cringe. Thankfully it hasn't happened on M14, but when i venture onto other bump boards i invariably end up thinking "really? isn't that child abuse?". Just because its you-neek doesn't mean it sounds good, or is actually a name.

OMG YES. Pre-preg 34F - probably a 34G now but I'm cheap and keep putting off buying new bras because they're so expensive ... even though DH keeps telling me just to bite the bullet and do it. I've had people do the whole side-eye "Can't you find a shirt that doesn't show off your cleavage?" thing and I'm just like "No. No I can't. You try stuffing melons into something that's made to fit apples, and let me know how that works for you."

We spend a lot of time on boats in the summer. I took my nephew (9 mo) with me for a few rides. He was in a DOT approved life jacket, and was being held by an adult the whole time. My LO will be in a life jacket (they make ones for infants that are DOT approved) when we go boat riding this summer. It's common sense not to go crazy with a baby on the boat.

I have a strong dislike of Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and other "holiday" decorations. Don't get me wrong, I love decorating for Easter and Christmas, but I think the majority of holiday decorations I see are just plain tacky.
...this could also be because the crazy lady in our condo complex insists on decorating for each month of the year. Just watched her put up those gross peel and stick window decals on the front lobby windows of our building (without the condo association's approval!), and now I'm debating writing an email to the board asking them to remove them. It makes the property look...well, trashy...for lack of a better word.
I don't like all the crazy decor - but I wouldn't be emailing anybody about taking them down.
Looks like my OU will be that I love Twitter. I used to be really into blogging and started talking to other bloggers on Twitter a few years back, and have made some great friends. I work in internet marketing so it might just be that I'm super nerdy, but I love me some tweets.

I studied though Phoenix for a little while, and will probably end up finshing through an online school. My cousin finished her AA in business, and honestly does know her stuff. I can agree with you that there are a lot of crazies on the online schools who seem to just want to 'buy a degree' and end up failing in a lot of the classes. I take my education very seriously and actually did study for my exams, and did all of the required class participation, and so forth.
Personally I found online classes to be harder because it takes a lot of self control to sit down and do your class work and actually study while there are Friends reruns on tv, or Facebook just tries to tear me away from studying. There are a ton of pitfalls in online education, but I'm a strong believer that if someone wants to learn he/she will learn.
If I had the chance I would def head back to a traditional classroom enviroment.

No I agree with @MrsKTen. If its a public/communal area then she has no right to put them up. It's just plain rude. She can't expect everyone to like her crazy decor. And she does this every month? I would take them down and post them under her door.

My UO is i'm a bit bummed that Justin Bieber got arrested for being an asshole drunk driver. I was never into him until my 7 year old DD decided she liked him a year or so back, when he was actually a nice boy. I remember seeing a doc on him and he was all about staying grounded and shit. I decided that he wasn't so bad, even if he was kinda dorky. My daughter loved him (as do a lot of little girls) (i'm not even touching the topic of 'beliebers') and now's he's an official douche. Way to go Biebs.

Whoops - should have read through twice! I thought she was putting it on her windows. I agree, email away!
@awc1986@northerngal - yes, she's putting them up in a communal area within our lobby! And she does it on a monthly basis. Our condo association is very strict about holiday decorations (we aren't even allowed to have wreaths, etc. on our door during Christmastime), so I'm not sure how she's getting away with this every month.
I don't think I've ever done a UO before...
Why baby girls specifically? It's not like they have boobs to cover or anything yet.
I'm not sure. It doesn't bother me when they just have a diaper on and no shirt. It's just when they're all dressed except for the top. It just kept rubbing me the wrong way when I see pictures. I would feel the way if I saw pictures of a toddler girl with no shirt on too.
There are lots of baby/toddler pictures of me without a shirt. I had all boy cousins and my mom tried getting me to wear a shirt but couldn't argue with my "but the boys don't have to" because at that point there is no difference between little boys and little girls on the top half. Hell, I think that it's bs that women have to wear shirts/tops in public but men don't. I have boobs, but so doesn't my male neighbor who is overweight. Boobs are essentially fat cells that women are more prone to having. What about my mom who doesn't even fill an A cup, her chest looks a lot like my dad's minus the hair.
Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!
Boobs....where do I begin? I bought two 34DD bras the day before I got my BFP. I've continued to cram them into those bras but I am now at the point where it's just too damn uncomfortable. I think it's safe to say that I've moved up to the G status or higher. And yes, it's hard to wear anything that doesn't show the Grand Canyon of cleavage with being a turtleneck. And even those make you look HUGE on top. Ugh...
It's been pretty tame on here today. I had an UO earlier but got tied up in work crap and can't remember it now! I'm boring...
I am not bummed about this at all. The little shit deserves what's coming to him and I hope the Miami PD aren't afraid to hand it down like the LAPD seems to have been. He's been skirting the law for a while now and keeps getting a free pass. It's about time that someone finally shows him what the limits are and says "no."
He was a good kid at one time, probably, but now he's just an example for what happens when your parents go on your payroll and stop being parents.

Meh - his smiling mugshot pic is already out. He's probably blowing his allowance up his nose and chasing it with a shot as we speak.

Ugh, I just read that he is in fact out on a $2500 bond. I can't stand his bratty, entitled...everything.
On behalf of Canada, I am sorry. (But we won't take him back willingly)
I think that dental/vision/hearing should all be part of regular health insurance. It is part of you body and problems with your teeth, eyes, and hearing can have serious impact on your health as a whole.

they freak the crap outta me.
anyone remember mine? come one. that was terrifying in 2D, imagine that crazy jack-o-lantern face in 3D?!
that's not to say i think every 3D US is horrific, because there have been some cute ones floating around. but i'll forever remember the ones that were posted around the 12wk mark before real skin and adorable facial features... ya. i even sceenshot a couple and kept them on my phone in case people wanted to know what my baby really looked like. (they've since been deleted *shutter*)
call me old fashioned, but i wanna see my baby's 3D face in real life, i don't need a sneak preview.
in case you forgot.

Hershey with almonds, Mounds, peanut M&M's. Yum. I love chocolate so much. I like them together, but maybe I'm just plain nuts.
I made a funny.
Happy Endings

My UO: I am not down with the chevron trend in home decor. It's everywhere and I don't get it. In small doses, it's ok but so many websites I've looked at for nursery ideas have been all chevron, all the time. No disrespect to those of you using that pattern, to each their own, I'm just not a fan.
