I don't drink at all right now. I look forward to the day I can. My OB is old fashioned and says no alcohol while pregnant. Some OB's are more modern and permit a little wine or a beer.
I know a few pregnant women who will have a glass every now and then. I don't know anyone who drinks daily.
I have had an occasional glass of wine throughout this pregnancy. No more than one glass during that night and usually a week or two apart. So, not that often.
I don't know if I would feel comfortable drinking daily, but I do have a few sips every couple days (I just take 2-3 sips of whatever DH is drinking.) I would just follow your OB's advice, whatever that may be.

Had our first baby, Samuel Robert, on April 17, 2014!
My OB told me a glass of wine with dinner is fine. I generally save it for an occasion because I don't want open and then have to toss a bottle, but my body has blown them all out of the water so far. Occasion #1 was to be a friend's wedding, but I passed out that day. Occasion #2 was to be Thanksgiving, but I got sick before we sat down to eat. Now I'm hoping for Christmas and New Years.
I'm not doing more than a sip once or twice a week of DH's drink. While I love wine, I think I'd have trouble limiting myself to a little amount, and wouldn't want to risk it.

To me daily is too much, although even that hasn't been shown to cause harm. I don't typically drink at all during pregnancy, I just can't enjoy it. I did split a beer with my (pregnant) sister last week, though.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
I'm with serenla, I miss g&ts! I even went so far as to see if there was any sort of non alcoholic replacement, but sadly, nothing will do. I am not drinking any alcohol until baby is outside
at the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, i am having dreams about going out drinking. Wine and rum and cokes. anytime i go to the bar with my friends i make them let me smell their cheap rum and cokes cuz i love me some cheap spiced rum.
but i am not drinking at all this pregnancy, although i understand that on glass occassionally is proven fine. i just know i can handle nine months without it.
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...
I don't know that there is any official amount that's okay. There are studies out there that say more than one small drink a week is too much, some that says none is best and even more that says minimum amounts are just fine. This is something you need to talk to your doctor about and make up your own mind. Options will differ on this board and that's just fine. Personally I have had 1 small glass so far this pregnancy. I would never drink daily, pregnant or not.
There's no amount I'd personally be comfortable with on an every day basis. So far, I've had a small glass of wine on maybe three occasions, and I'm currently savoring half a beer from DH's Guinness variety pack. So that makes 4 small drinks total so far this pregnancy, all in the second trimester, and always with food.
I don't think they know exactly how much is really safe, so most drs just say abstain.
I've heard it's ok to have a small glass of wine occasionally. And it probably is but I'm just going to abstain because it's easier for me. I wouldn't judge someone else for choosing to have that glass of wine though so do what you and your DH/SO are comfortable with.
Edit: just adding as others mentioned, I would not drink or recommend drinking daily while pregnant. More of a once or twice a week. Friday night date night would be nice.

I have had a surprising amount of dreams where I get incredibly drunk since becoming pregnant. Like, taking vodka shots level drunk. I've also have had dreams about riding on roller coasters and eating unpasteurized cheeses (and a very odd dream about drinking unpasteurized wine). Apparently my mind has decided to at least pretend I can still indulge

hahahaha that's so funny! I have a lot of dreams where I forget I'm pregnant and can't drink. I had one where I had a glass, not a shot, a glass of tequila. and from what I remember, it was good.

Same here. And I love getting buzzed off half a glass when I've gone over 9 months without it DD1 STTN at 6 weeks so I was able to get slightly buzzed a couple nights a week off less than a glass on my maternity leave, it makes for some amazing and relaxed PP sex
I don't drink while pregnant... but I am considering having a small class of cab xmas eve after the kids are in bed while we play santa, and a glass of moscato (less alcohol than red or white) on NYE. I may chicken out and say nope forget it! I crave wine, so on a weekly or biweekly basis, one glass is a joke to me lol

I was pretty surprised/impressed that this thread seemed to be full of people who took a reasonable, moderate position on drinking! I've had a few sips on occasion once the first trimester was over. I never have more than a few sips because I'm small. I think my total consumption of alcohol *combined* over 20 weeks is maybe one full drink. Once I get into the third trimester, I may have a tiny bit more.
Honestly, I still get sort of embarrassed to have a few sips, even around family. I worry everyone is going to think I'm a bad mom! (No one has even remotely said that, I'm just paranoid!)
I have not had one sip of anything since i found out i was pregnant. I just dont see the point in risking it. Besides if i had one sip at this point i would just want to drink the whole bottle!
I don't drink during pregnancy. I have the occasional sip of my hubby's beer or did in my last pregnancy for example. This one is high risk so I am not taking any chances. However, I am lax with the sushi rule for sure. LOL. Alcohol not so much also becuase the drugs I am on for the disease I have is what puts me at high risk that I wouldn't even think to complicate that with alcohol.
I do believe it's a personal decision. I think of women in teh 50s who drank, smoke and cleaned with bleach! LOL. The baby boomers are fine.
I've had small glasses of wine here and there throughout this pregnancy. DH brews his own beer as well and whenever a batch is finished I always try a sip or two. I don't personally believe I'm risking anything by doing that. I drank the occasional glass of wine when pregnant with DS and he is healthy, intelligent and an "over-achiever" if you are asking his doctor.
Why even chance it? I think it's incredibly ignorant and selfish to drink while pregnant, no matter how much. I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a study conducted on pregnant women to conclude whether it's safe to drink during pregnancy.
