Yeah I was worried about the u/s monitoring. This would be my 5th IVF so I was nervous how it would play out. I just thought people go to CCRM for a last ditch effort so it has to be doable, right?!
Well I am going to call and set up a consultation and let them know my situation. FX it all works out!
Has anyone ever been a part of the SuMMIT study? I'm currently a part of it and sort of wishing I hadn't been. I did my egg retrieval and should be preparing for my FET but am on hold due to the study. They are apparently still running tests on my embryos (all 25 of them!) and I kind of feel like I've been left in the dark about any information as far as the status of the embryos and how long the testing will take. Does anybody have any experience or knowledge about the study?
I'm in the SuMMIT Trial, and am currently waiting on CCS results for our embryo. Our embryo was slow growing, so we did a freeze-all (I still think it's funny to say that for one embryo!). Hopefully our results will be back later this week, and we can do a FET in April.
Hey RunCC, Have you heard anything about your start date?? I'm waiting to hear from them every day and its torture! Which office do you go to?

We got our report back on Wednesday (just one day shy of the two week mark), and we're planning on a transfer in April!! We go to the BR office.
@elinef I'll be doing my FET in April too! I just had my egg retrieval two days ago, we ended up having approx 25 follicles, they retrieved 19 eggs and out of those we had 13 fertilize! Now we are just waiting till Monday (day 5 Blasts) to see how many made it to freeze. We start sometime end of March beginning of April for our FET with the RMANJ (BR location) for their NexGen Study where they transfer two embryos. Keep me posted we can be FET buddies

Ok! I need a buddy who understands what I'm going through! I did my egg retrieval at the end of Feb. We got 53 eggs! 43 fertilized and 25 made it to day 5! Obv I was overstimulated, so they froze them. I was so excited and felt like the ER was such a success and we were on a roll, but then suddenly everything came to a halt. I got my period (sorry if that's TMI) and went in for bw and u/s, everything was normal, so it seemed like I should start the process for the FET, but it turns out they are still testing the embies. So, they actually put me back on the pill ( and now we're just waiting for the testing, which could take another whole week...sigh.. But, they assured me all of the testing is a GOOD thing, so I just have to impatiently wait patiently
I normally go to somerset, but had to do my ER on a weekend so I went to BR, where my little embies are chilling so I guess my transfer will be there too
@Repute I'm so sorry you're going through all of that! I unfortunately don't have any personal experience but I do have a friend who was told she would never have kids because her endometriosis was so bad... she never bothered to use any sort of birth control since she figured her chances were so slim. About 4 years ago she miraculously got pregnant with her son and carried full term. He's happy and healthy and he stretched out her uterus and basically made her endometriosis no longer an issue. She just celebrated the 1st birthday of her daughter! So it can happen Have faith! I definitely think that transferring two embryos is worth the shot! I'm doing the same with my first FET coming up in April. I wish you lots of luck and hope you find someone on here who has experienced it personally who might be able to help you!

@Repute I am doing my first ever IVF, the NexGen study is where we go through the medicated process to retrieve eggs, they then do an Endometrial Scrape to prepare the uterus and increase chances of implantation, and now I'm just waiting for AF to show so that I can go on Estrogen and PIO injections to get my body ready for a double embryo FET. In the NexGen Study you're either in the Study group or the Control Group. It's a double blind study so we won't know which we were in until after it ends in a live birth, miscarriage or doesn't work for us. All of us in the study had our fertilized eggs watched and photographed every 5 minutes for the full 5 days. The embryos that made it to the 5 day blast were frozen. Then IF we are part of the study we get all of our embryos PGD tested for free and frozen, our two best chromozomally normal embryos will be transferred. IF we are in the Control group they just take our two best embryos and transfer them. By doing a frozen transfer cycle they can monitor that each women in the study is cared for exactly the same way for their results to be accurate.
I unfortunately don't care for the meds either, however I wasn't ovulating on my own, so I've been used to giving myself injections of meds to make myself ovulate, its not much different in the IVF cycle either.
Glad my friends story helped! Good luck with your natural IVF cycle! Lots of prayers and Baby Dust for you

@musicinlala26 I didn't know that the endometrial scrape was part of the study. That's awesome. My RE was explaining about why it would be more successful having the scrape done and he said if I ever get to do another transfer I could have it done. Good luck!
@Repute Good luck with your transfer. You want want to do a separate post on your situation. There are many ladies here with endometriosis and can talk more about that.
I would post an intro, but I am not sure I belong here since I am in limbo and was told that I am not a good candidate for IVF.
I started going to RMANJ in BR at the end if January. I was really excited because I was told how great they are and that they have high success rates. I went to an RE to get some answers, but right from the get go they were pushing IVF. I didn't think much of it, but I know that is obviously where they make most of their money and I still decided to give them a chance. I had my CD3 blood work done on 2/21 and had a SHG and endo biopsy the following week. DH also got his blood drawn and had his SA done that same week.
I knew after the cd3 blood work that my FSH was high, but the doctor didn't seem hopeless and told me to take CoQ10 and DHEA to help with that issue. I had my follow up appointment on 3/12 and when they confirmed the appt, I asked if all of the results were in because I didn't want it to be a wasted trip. They told me that it looked like they were all in and we were good to go. I went to the appointment and low and behold, they didn't have all of the results. In fact, the only other thing he old me was that DH's sperm wasn't "stellar" but it wasn't awful. He only talked about my FSH because that was all that he had. He didn't tell me anything else that I didn't know, but started throwing out some grim statistics at me and told me I am not a good candidate for IVF and pushed for an egg donor. I asked a bunch of questions that I had and all he said was, "I am sorry but it isn't your husband... it is you." This was his response when I asked him about the rest of the results. He also told me that the rest didn't matter because my FSH is that of someone 10 years older than me. He told me to wait for the rest of the results before discussing an plan, which I was confused by since he said everything else didn't matter. I left that office feeling devastated and confused....sobbing my eyes out for the next three days. Then I really thought about it and became angry because I felt as if he were pushing me aside because I cannot help their statistics and financial part unless I use an egg donor. I felt as if he doesn't want to help me meet my goal because I cannot help him meet his. I can accept the fact that I have a high FSH which makes things more difficult, but I also know that doesn't mean that I have zero good eggs. I waited another week and called my nurse asking about the rest of the results. Apparently they never did the genetic testing on DH which they were supposed to do, but everything else came back fine. She did tell me that my AMH was low and my thyroid antibodies were "off" which would make the doctor want to start me on medication for that. She said everything else came back normal, but she was waiting on some of the genetic results, the chromosomes are fine. She said the doctor was in surgery that day but would get back to me about the rest of the results and I have heard nothing. This to me reinforces what I felt after my follow up. I feel as if they aren't concerned for me because I can't help them achieve their goal of IVF unless I use a donor. I am glad that most of you are having great experiences, as I wish I were. I just wanted to give some perspective from someone who is not having a great experience. I do plan on getting a second opinion and also talking with a director of one of the offices to let them know how I am feeling shafted. Sorry for the long winded story but I wanted to give some background to my experience.

I was hoping I might join you ladies on this thread as I'm hoping to do my FET in April too. Some background on me...DH and I were patients at another shore area RE for 3 years. We did 4 IUIs, 4 fresh IVF transfers, and 2 FETs, with nothing to show for except 2 CPs. We finally made the switch to RMA and could not be happier. We see Dr Molinaro in the Eatontown office (love him!) and had our retrieval earlier this month. We wound up with 12 day 5 blasts which we are having tested and frozen. Dr M thinks I may have inflammatory issues that he'd like to address so we felt a FET would give us a better shot at success. At my last clinic we did PGD testing on our last cycle, but it sadly did not work. That testing was done in Day 3 though. I'm planning to try the laser acupuncture (although I also see my own acupuncturist who is AMAZING and such a lovely person). I feel so much more confidence in this upcoming transfer than I did in my last few...I'm sending positive vibes and baby dust to all of you ladies!
@Denise91980, I am so sorry that you had that awful experience. I was originally with a different clinic in NJ up until January. I consulted with three clinics and four REs in the month of January before settling on RMA. My first consult was not good at all. I left so angry, and felt like we were being turned away. I blogged about it, so feel free to check out that post if you're interested (Consult #2). We had a much better experience with a different doctor in the practice (Consult #3), and are currently doing a FET cycle.
Our testing hasn't shown any reason why we have such poor embryo quality (SA, AMH, FSH, etc all are normal), but we've been through three ERs and only have one blastocyst to show for it. By the time we got to RMA, we had already gone through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. I was nervous that they wouldn't want to ding their statistics up with our case. Like I said above, the first doctor gave us that impression (though I think he just had crappy bedside manner). The second doctor was much gentler with us. He didn't give us any false hope, but at the same he was straight forward with us. He told us that he didn't expect that we'd get 5-6 blasts like other couples of our age, but he was hopeful that we'd get at least one, maybe even two or three. We did IVF #3 with them in February, and got one blast!
@shood77, I see the same doctor and think he's great too You should join us in the April Snuggle Bunnies check-in group (assuming you do your FET in April!). It's shaping up to be a nice group. I really love having a group of ladies to keep up with while going through this. It's nice to get to know each other, and also to not feel so alone. The first check-in will be on Monday, so look out for it!

Yup Though I've only actually been to the Eatontown office one time for our consult with Dr. M. I live much closer to the BR office, and do all of my monitoring there. So far, I've been lucky to avoid the other doctor. As silly as it sounds, I'm going to try to schedule my FET on a day that the 'other doctor' is not on the schedule. He stresses me out and makes my blood pressure rise just thinking about that second consult.

I just read your blog and noticed that Dr.K was the one with poor bedside manner. I am guessing it was the same doctor. I don't know if I will use RMA for my second opinion or if I will go elsewhere. I did get a name that was highly recommended by two people who don't know each other out of St.Barnabas. I am all the way in Morris County and Eatontown is pretty far for me. I am familiar with that area though since I went to Monmouth for grad school. Best if luck to you and thanks for the info.

Yup, Dr. Kim, I'm not a fan. He is definitely smart, and knows his stuff, but he left us with zero hope. We also consulted with Dr. Chen at IRMS (St. Barnabas) and we were very impressed. In the end, we decided to go with RMA because I couldn't ignore the stats. For us, we need the best lab we can get. I don't care if I get that warm & fuzzy feeling from my RE (though I do have to trust him... and blood pressure spikes are not good), I just want results or answers. I'm praying this works!! Good luck to you!!
Dr.Chen was the name I got. Dr.Kim hasn't even gotten back to me yet about the rest of my results or addressing the thyroid issue. I will stalk them again this week, which I think is rediculous. I do want to work with someone who knows their shit, but who also doesn't look at me as a hopeless statistic.

Denise91980 I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience. I have to be honest, I felt that way at times too. There are 16 different doctors on rotation (I believe) at RMA in Basking Ridge... I've seen all of them at one point or another and some have a terrible bedside manner, others are fantastic. I too felt very pressured into IVF but we took our time, we did three failed IUI's first and we are now in the middle of a Study with RMA for IVF. I do think that they want to take cases that can help their statistics but ultimately their goal is to get you pregnant and send you back to your OBGYN. I call RMA the Baby Factory If you didn't like what the first doctor had to say I suggest you try again with a different doctor. Their opinions do not always reflect the views of RMA. I wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted!
and @shood77 when are you doing your FET? I'm just waiting on AF to appear (funny when you realllllly want it to come it decides to hang out at bay for awhile just to mess with you!) once AF shows her face then I go in for a consult and start estrogen!
@RunCC37 good luck I see your FET is soon!! Keep us posted Very excited for you!
@poohniki yes they did the endometrial scrape (which I think is a huge fee like $3000 out of pocket otherwise) but if it works this round then I'm sure we will pay to do it again!

TMI- started spotting today so I'm hopeful that AF will show completely tomorrow and I can call that Day 1. If it's 20 days or so on estrogen and PIO injections before FET then that would put me approx one week sooner than expected FX for you!! Keep us posted

hi ladies! I'm new to the forum, but I found it after searching about the neXgen study and RMA. It's so nice to read the information from you all and know that there are others out there!:) My dh & i have been ttc for approx. 3.5 years. We started going to RMA after IRMS (St. Barnabas) a year ago and I can say I'm thrilled and excited with the results we've been getting (although ttc is a long, patient process). In June, we found out that we had an ectopic pregnancy and have had 2 other IUIs (making it a total of 5...i think--i lost count). Thankfully, we were accepted into the neXgen study and we're waiting patiently, excited, nervous, anxious...all the emotions into one...to hear if our transfer was successful!:) On a side note, I think the neXgen worked because I took a hpt Sunday and got a very very faint positive line!:) So don't give up hope ladies and believe in miracles;)
@bobnclaudia Thats awesome! Keep us posted I know another girl in the nexgen study who also is pregnant now after her transfer!

@repute: I go tomorrow and i'm super anxious and excited...especially since I took another hpt and it was a darker line Good luck tomorrow! They're gonna make you drink water at the time of your transfer...i'm glad I wasnt already super feeling full... (so your bladder is full and they can see the uterus via abdominal ultrasound). I think the estrace is to help your body recognize the estrogen levels associated with pregnancy? but i actually started that 5 days prior...who knows. I'm with you...i hate taking medicine unless i absolutely need it. the progesterone in oil i'm sooooo done with lol
@musicianlala26: Really? I'm trying to get my friend enrolled in the study since she was approved for it, but it's soooo nice to hear that someone is pregnant from the neXgen study. how far along is your friend...is she on this conversation?
HI all!! i'm more of a lurker on a few of the boards. I'm also an RMA girl, and just finished the NexGen study, I too got my positive betas last weekend. I go for my first US on monday. fingers crossed :-)
Dr Kim is also my dr, and while he is NOT warm and fuzzy (that took some getting used to) I do think he is an amazing dr. I suffered one ectopic/tube loss in november and he took great care of me throughout the ordeal.
Best of luck to you all. You are in truly great hands.
I love hearing all of these NexGen ladies who are pregnant! This makes 3 now that I know and I think 6 or 7 of us in total Thank you Bump for bringing us together haha FX for all of us NexGen ladies who have yet to do our ET and Sticky Baby Dust to all of you who got your BFP!

@Repute: no stress is key ....I cheated bc I felt pregnant and indeed had a faint line. I had like super crampy feeling but it wasn't like normal cramps and I felt like I was using the bathroom more. Lots of sticky baby dust
@Musicianlala26: I bet you're psyched! So you're the middle of April-ish?
@Bobnclaudia and @repute yup middle of April looking like ET will be 4/14 Super excited that it's finally here!
Thanks for the list Repute! I've been googling what to do before and after ET so anything you ladies can recommend would be awesome!

@Repute: I actually found that I had (it seemed) more than usual and chalked it up to the FET and the progesterone. And tried not to read too much into it. The key sign was 4 days after when I needed to take 2 Tylenol extra strength pills bc of the cramps I had in my uterus & sides. I never experience cramps (or they're extremely rare) bc I have PCOS. Worse case scenario, call your nurse or the hotline. I know my nurse (monica) always gets back to me asap
Congratulations to everyone with their BFP's! Dr Kim did my retrieval but I didn't really talk much with him...I've done this process enough times with my former clinic, so I knew what to expect. I should be doing my FET in late April...I got the word that 5 of my 12 Day 5 blasts tested normal. We are hoping to transfer 2...after having had 6 failed transfers before, we would prefer not to do a SET.
Hi ladies! I let RMA know about my negative experience. My nurse called me Friday to let me know that everything else was normal other than my FSH and AMH. They are going to include me in their natural IVF cycle research study. Hope all goes well but I am trying not to get my hopes up. I can't pass up an opportunity to have a free IVF cycle. Anyone else participating?

I don't blame you! You should be stress free for your FER. Hopefully, you don't get that doctor that day!!
