Rock n Play?

I keep seeing people post about the Rock n Play.  I looked it up on Amazon and I see a sleeper and a bassinet. Which one are you all using? Mostly for naps or nighttime too? Is it pretty portable and fold up easily? Thanks!

Re: Rock n Play?

  • I don't know anyone who uses the bassinet, only the more upright version.  I didn't have it with my first son and we did ok using the pack n play but he did end up sleeping in his bouncy seat for a while due to reflux.  My friend bought us a RNP for this baby and I have to say, it's been great. It fits right next to the bed and folds flat so it was great to take with us when we visited family.  I like that it's deep, unlike a bouncy seat, because we can still safely swaddle him - something we couldn't do with the bouncer.

I'm using the RnP sleeper, I think LO likes the way it craddles him. I use it for some naps and nighttime sleep in our room.

It is really lightweight, VERY portable and does fold. LO really loves being in it and kicking to make it rock. We also use it for non sleep time, like when we are eating dinner we place him in it next to the table. This way we can chat with him and he can see us.

It really has been a lifesaver!

  • Kid has been sleeping in it since we brought him home. Miracle.

  • We planned on using the PnP for a bassinet but are using the RnP instead. I love it and LO does really well in it. We can move it around the house and it fits so well beside the bed. She sleeps in it all night as well as naps. It is probably the best purchase we made for LO.

  • My baby hated being flat. RnP saved my sanity. I still recommend it to anyone that I talk to about newborn sleep.

  • I wish we knew about it from the beginning. I'm afraid to buy it now because LO is doesn't like anything she has. The swing, bouncy seat, pnp & crib are collecting dust for now. She cosleeps for our sanity. If we had this, it may have been the cure. At this point, I'm afraid it'll be another piece of furniture collecting dust.

  • My ds loves his, we use it during the day for naps and awake time. We don't use it at night, but he has no problems with reflux or sleeping flat. We don't have a swing or a bouncer, we were waiting until he got here to purchase either but for now the rnp suffices.
  • I just bought this for our LO. We have the mama-roo, thinking LO would love it......well it was a fail. LO hangs out all of 5 min before crying. I went out to babies-r-us and got the Lamb Sleepnplay. LO LOVES IT!! He sleeps like a gem in it and i just take everywhere around the house. He hangs out, naps and night sleeps in it. He has acid reflux and colic so the angle is perfect. Well money spent in my opinion. He

We have both the RNP and the mammaroo and our LO LOVES the mommaroo. My DH was very skeptical bc of the price but thinks it was the best investment. Sorry yours didn't work as well for you. I'm glad the RNP did though!
  • I use it to take the baby with me everywhere in the house. In the kitchen, while I'm making dinner, at the table while we're eating, outside the bathroom while I'm in the shower, in the living room next to the sofa.

She's fine napping in it and just hanging out in it. It's been very useful. I don't feel comfortable using it for overnight sleeping, but I know a lot of parents who do.

It was a shower gift that I didn't know I needed. Great product.

  • I have the bassinet.  I like that it is deep so baby is also like in a minicrib, but it doesn't really rock smoothly.  I also like that it was bigger so i thought baby could use it longer.
