The only people I've known that regularly smoke weeds are scummy, I'm guess this person is too. Why get pregnant and bring a child into your stupidity?
I wonder if crazed negativity, evil thoughts, and stress can effect a fetus?
Not as much as your retardedly bad judgement. ?Jesus... weed? ?What is wrong with you? ?Why don't you just skip right ahead to the crack pipe while you're at it. ?Give your kid a real shot at life. ??
Okay..the REAL rundown is....everybody lives their lives the way they want...I know people who smoked weed the entire 9 months. Sure, the baby came out with one head, right amount of toes...etc...but, as the child gets older, other problems arise, such as asthma (bad, very bad asthma), lots of colds and flus...I think the doc said it was a weakened immune system issue due to the "smoking"...so even though your child comes out okay in theory....its just not wise to not give your child every possible chance of being healthy.
As far as the wine, my mom drank the occasional glass of red wine with me and I came out alright...26yrs and only the normal amount of colds, etc...no major health issues at all.
Hope that answers your question or satisfies your curiosity...I know some people on here can act "holier than thou"...geez...nobody on here is a OB...this is just women talking to women...sometimes you ask stupid questions b/c you don't have anyone else to ask them to that won't look at you like you're disturbed...the internet is *somewhat* anonymous! cut some slack!!!!!!
People choose to do a lot of things while pregnant, that doesn't mean they are good for the baby.
By the way, if your provider finds out you have used illegal drugs during your pregnancy they can be required by law to report you. In many states they even test the baby as soon as it is born to see if you have used and can take the baby away from you. As far as I know this applies to ALL illegal drugs.
Um wine no because I hate the stuff, weed absolutely not. I actually smoked it occasional before I got pregnant but I quit as soon as I found out. It prevents oxygen from getting to the baby. If you wouldn't give your kid a joint and lite it up then don't do it because the baby is essentially doing it too! My aunt smoked it through out her pregnancy and many ppl were disgusted with her, Even tho her son is perfectly fine, problems can develop down the road. Its too scary for me and soooo not worth it!
I know people who smoked weed the entire 9 months.?
wow you must be pretty classy to have such respectable friends. ?and being outraged that someone would potentially put a child's life at risk for a little fun is a bit different than being "holier than thou." ?but why don't you go toke up with your little friend skylooo and let the grown ups take care of the real issues. ? mmmkay?
Does anyone have an answer that knows anything about marijuana?
Listen, no one is going to give you the answer you want so just chill the *** out. If you want to smoke, fine. It's all on you, my dear. If your child ends up having problems down the road, can't concentrate, can't succeed in school, has behavioral issues, it's all on you. You get to sleep at night knowing your irresponsibility and lack of self control did that.
You are right, as an adult you can make the choice to do drugs (many of us here have in the past) but by doing them when you are pregnant, you aren't giving your child that chance to make their own choice. But I think you know that.
I know people who smoked weed the entire 9 months.

Actually, I am classy and I am grown....when I had my first child, I was 19years old...I knew alot of girls...same age and younger THEN who smoked weed and etc....I have seen them from time to time and have asked about their children...that's how I KNOW. As far as the "holier than thou" comment...my child was born with a disability...at the time I was angrier than ever when someone I knew had a seemingly healthy child after smoking weed for 9 months, while I, had a nutritionist and did EVERYTHING humanly possible to have a healthy child and did not. Over time I realized that this was God's plan for my life...that they *hopefully* regret being so stupid and thank God for giving them a second chance. I've had friends come to me and ask me how I could not be angry...I just now know that I don't know their circumstances in life and I can only be responsible for me and my decisions...that's why I don't JUDGE. All you can do is state the facts..they will make a choice regardless..you just pray it is the right one. So as far as your comment...I understand that you don't know me so you just JUDGED based on that...I just answered the question as it was asked....with KNOWLEDGE instead of insult. That's how this site should be...but alas, it is not...so usually I only post "light" topics...but since this hit close to home...I responded...anyway, H & H 9 months to you all...

H & H 9 months to ya!
Ok, well I'm sorry if you think that we should give this question a serious answer but the fact is, it is a severely stupid question obviously coming from a severely stupid person and therefore does not deserve an answer. I don't know who in their right mind would even think this was a good idea.
Does anyone have an answer that knows anything about marijuana?
I know a lot about weed. Enough to know that inhaling it while PG is not a good idea. Why would you even take a chance on something like that?
If you are really concerned about it and want to try and pursue it, talk to a real medical professional (your OB) vs. an internet chat board. Why would you trust a bunch of strangers with the health of your child? Oh wait. Marijuana is illegal! That is probably why you don't want to ask your doctor!

I don't think I'm "holier than thou" I just know better than to smoke f*cking weed while I'm pregnant! How the f*ck do you ask a question like that and really expect to get non-judgemental answers -- this isn't just because of how we are on the bump. I guarantee a$$hat asks that question out in public and she would get the same responses! This question did not warrant a puppies and rainbows response--and that's just reality

Umm..weed, yeah NO. Where would I smoke it? On my back deck with baby bump or in the Scooby Mobile with smoke coming out the back? I consider weed smoking fine....but not for pregnant people....AAAHH!!
Wine-think it's fine, but personally no.. Enough deydration issues already and I love wine waaaay too much to tease myself with a glass a week.
My definition of "okay" must be different than some folks. Definitely not okay to set your kid up for asthma because you heard that some douchebag smoked for the whole 9 months and spit out a kid with the right number of limbs. Weak.
I've had a glass of wine or a single beer here and there all along, like maybe one every 2 weeks or so. Definitely no weed, though. Did the same with DD and she's just about perfect.
My doc said 1/2 a glass of wine a day was acceptable, but you can't save up and have a week's worth in one night!
Does anyone have an answer that knows anything about marijuana?
ooooooh! me! pick me! I'm a drug counselor, as in, I know about marijuana for a living. All smoke is harmful on a fetus. You are suffocating your child in a cloud everytime you take a hit. Smoking a small joint is the same as four cigarettes, at once.
I am a week away from my 2nd tri-mester and I can't wait to have A glass of wine.
I don't know the effets of THC on an unborn fetus and I would hate to try it and wait 9 months to find out. I have already had one healthy child in my life and I can atest that it is the most wonderful thing in the world. Once you know what that feels like and how blessed you are, you would never risk it.
Remember, learning to become unselfish during pregnacy is the first lesson of motherhood.
Seeing that I have never smoked weed in my life, I would never smoke, drink or do anything potentially harmful for my baby (i dont have one yet.. but in the future) Like the pp, you have to be selfless when your pregnant, or else youll end up with a whole bunch of problems and a sick child for the rest of your life.
I ABSOLUTELY love wine and have been asked many times since i have been pg to "just have a glass...it wont hurt" and still have not because I dont want to tease myself with its deliciousness.
As for the weed part--no way jose!!! Did that when i was younger and for me I wont even be in the same room with someone who is smoking cigarettes. And I also have family members who smoked just cigarettes while they were pg and have sick babies who have acid reflux or asthma problems and then they wonder why they are at the doctor every other week with their sick baby?? HMMMMM.....I wonder why?? dee dee dee...
I know a girl from high school that smoked week occasionally during pregnancy, her beautiful daughter has arthrits and asthma. Anything you inhale goes to your baby, especially while thier lungs are developing. One marijauna joint has more tar in it than 6 regular cigarettes. I would never put my baby at risk like that. You arent supposed to breath in other harmful fumes, smoking is putting a dangerous substance directly into your tiny babies new lungs. It has also been proven that marijuana kills brain cells and can probably stop new brain cells from forming. A baby is a blessing. I would suggest definatley stopping during prenancy, and probaly make a life descision to stop all together. That little life is yours to raise.
no judgement - but NO to both - why take chances on stunting your babies growth or them having fetal alcohol syndrome - in which case it actually alters you babies looks and could make them have learning disabilities - GIve them the best chance possible - there is enough we expose them to on a daily basis already.

Right...you know better...but do you know this girl???? I mean..if we all know the answers...wtf do we need the bump for?
The Bump is not designed to offer medical advice. It is a meeting place for moms to discuss pregnancy and baby related issues. Discuss means we all get to say what we want....
And one should not say they are an adult and then ask if smoking pot would hurt her baby. In a word, yes. Mostly in that this poor baby is being born to a moron, but perhaps in other ways, too.
I get that you are all very passionate about this. I would not smoke weed during my pregnancy and don't post partum either. I don't really enjoy it that much either. I did, however, have an occasional glass of wine or beer here and there. DD is perfectly healthy and growing well. Just because someone asks a stupid question, doesn't mean you have to treat them so badly. There are TONS of ignorant people out there but instead of ridiculing them and treating them so badly, maybe everyone should try to inform them. It is hard enough to deal with society and you guys aren't making it much easier. People do what they do and we can't stop them. We can teach them and help them. Alot of you have probably asked some ignorant questions before but you aren't going to learn unless you ask. Think about it...
I am choosing not to. (no judgement towards those who are) I know people who had an occasional glass of wine or a beer. But did not over do it and there babies are OK. I am just scared of the "what-if" factor. So I will wait to have a drink after baby is born. I have heard that if you are really stressed it is bad for baby and is almost better to have a small glass of wine. Less risk for baby.
I am not sure about the marijuana thing. I do not know anyone who smokes that.
Re: In 2nd and 3rd tri is anyone planning on...

wine maybe, i doubt i will want it. With my first it just didnt taste good....
but i wont waste time on weed... im heading straight to crack... WTF? are you serious???
Well at least ours won't be addicted to drugs you dumb shit
