Gross income about 20 for both girls. We do in home.

30% of gross for two at an in home center. The lack of spaces of any kind in our area has the prices way up. DD3 will be in grade one in the fall and I am relieved, we do okay, but this is tight.
22% gross for two kids with a nanny and preschool for the older one. I was surprised at how high our percentage is compared with the range here, but then again, the cost of daycare is pretty high where I live and if we had sent them to a daycare center, we would have spent the same amount.
Son #1 - September '09 Son #2 - October '11 Son #3 - Hoping to adopt from China some time in 2014!
At its peak with 2 young kids in full time, we were spending 11 or 12% or so. But that only lasted a year-ish.
Now as the kids are getting older, we spend far, far less on daycare but other, similar costs are increasing. Camp, daycamp, sporting activities, music lessons and such. So now that the kids are 4 and 5 I think what we are spending on daycare is at its lowest - <2% but our childlife expenses are on the increase.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
About 8%. DH makes twice what I do and we take DS out of DC during the summers since I'm a teacher. We live in a fairly low cost of living area and he goes to a mid-range priced center.
Almost 10 of our net for one child. We have a full time babysitter who watches DS at her house, so kind of a nanny and inhome DC hybrid. When the next LO arrives we'll move DS to preschool two days per week and pay our DCP a bit more. Then we'll be close to 15 net.
I'm not exactly sure how this number helps you, but we are 11% gross for 2 kids, but I have dropped down to part time work, but I pay for full time childcare.
You can easily find the ranges of centers in your area, which will likely range from 800 - 2,000+ depending on your area. Those are usually the easiest prices to find, so I would start there and look at your budget. Depending on your budget and comfort level you can explore nanny's and inhomes.

15% gross, which works out to over twice what our mortgage payment is (we bought less house then we could afford, and are is really expensive here for an experienced nanny)
17% gross....2 kids....daycare chain.....3 full days. If it were 5 days it would be 23% but we've done everything we can to avoid that. That would just push us way over the edge.

DD goes to DC part time. We spend 5% on DC costs. I'm sure we are not the average though. We are lucky enough that we both work full time, I work nights, so we need less DC than if I were to work days.
If we did have FT DC for her it would be 13% of our take home pay.
Re: What % income spent on childcare?
DC for 2 kids is a little more than 10% gross.
When we add a third kid and go to a nanny with preschool, it will shoot up to more like 20%.

5% of our income for one child.
10% of combined gross income for a nanny share.
DD just started preschool + aftercare, and that's about 8%.

14% net for 5 kids
ETA: I should mention we have an au pair, so live in, and same price no matter how many children we have- not very typical for childcare.
Our old DC was 20% of our gross for 1 child. I don't recommend that percentage, but it's what DC costs in Boston.
I was able to get into a different daycare which is 6% of our gross. That is much more manageable.
13% of our gross with two in full time at a center.

6% of gross for 1 kid, will be 11.5% in summer when I have baby #2. This is for M-Th at a center (I work PT).

17% of net take home on a daycare center for 1 child age 2.
ETA: I see most everyone gave you gross. For comparison sake, it's 9% of our gross income.
