What percentage of your household income (specify net or gross) do you spend on childcare? And, do you use day care or nanny?
I'm trying to figure out what ballpark to aim for in childcare search. Thanks!

DC for 2 kids is a little more than 10% gross.
When we add a third kid and go to a nanny with preschool, it will shoot up to more like 20%.

5% of our income for one child.
10% of combined gross income for a nanny share.
DD just started preschool + aftercare, and that's about 8%.

At its peak with 2 young kids in full time, we were spending 11 or 12% or so. But that only lasted a year-ish.
Now as the kids are getting older, we spend far, far less on daycare but other, similar costs are increasing. Camp, daycamp, sporting activities, music lessons and such. So now that the kids are 4 and 5 I think what we are spending on daycare is at its lowest - <2% but our childlife expenses are on the increase.
14% net for 5 kids
ETA: I should mention we have an au pair, so live in, and same price no matter how many children we have- not very typical for childcare.
Our old DC was 20% of our gross for 1 child. I don't recommend that percentage, but it's what DC costs in Boston.
I was able to get into a different daycare which is 6% of our gross. That is much more manageable.
13% of our gross with two in full time at a center.
I'm not exactly sure how this number helps you, but we are 11% gross for 2 kids, but I have dropped down to part time work, but I pay for full time childcare.
You can easily find the ranges of centers in your area, which will likely range from 800 - 2,000+ depending on your area. Those are usually the easiest prices to find, so I would start there and look at your budget. Depending on your budget and comfort level you can explore nanny's and inhomes.
6% of gross for 1 kid, will be 11.5% in summer when I have baby #2. This is for M-Th at a center (I work PT).

ETA: I see most everyone gave you gross. For comparison sake, it's 9% of our gross income.

DD goes to DC part time. We spend 5% on DC costs. I'm sure we are not the average though. We are lucky enough that we both work full time, I work nights, so we need less DC than if I were to work days.
If we did have FT DC for her it would be 13% of our take home pay.
