Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Why Angelcare so popular?

Why do so many moms on here have Angelcare monitors? Is it really that common for babies to stop breathing?

I'm a cautious type of mother, so I understand the desire for one...but I'm just wondering if it will make me more anxious perhaps.

Re: Why Angelcare so popular?

  • I've yet to hear of anyone whose baby had actually stopped breathing when the alarm went off. Seems like a hassle to me.
  • Loading the player...
  • we bought it because we wanted Bella in the crib from the day we got home from the hospital, and knew we'd have more piece of mind with it.

a good friend of mine who has twins had recommended it to me...said it allowed her to sleep much easier knowing they were ok.

we don't use it anymore though because she's all over the crib and it goes off when she scooches over to one side of it.

  • There have been multiple posts on here about nestie's whose babies were saved by a movement monitor.  We have one and absolutely love it.  I sleep so much better knowing that an alarm will go off if she stops breathing.  It's absolutely not a hassle either.  We've also never had a false alarm, but it always goes off if we remove her from the crib without turning it off so I know it's working.
  • Someone posted on here a couple weeks ago that their baby did stop breathing and it was detected by the anglecare...the baby did start breathing again in like 30 seconds...but it was a serious scare for them.

I do not have the monitor.

  • There has been TWO Nestie Mom's on here who were awakened by the monitor in the middle on night to their children not breathing. They were not false alarms and both turned out to be ok after they got to their children in time. After their notices on here lots of people went out to get one.

    * Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe this is accurate info.

Just for the record I did not go get one.

  • Ask Del, Brock stopped breathing and because of the Angelcare she was able to get him to the hospital.  I do not have an Angelcare, but after she posted that i had the hardest time sleeping for several nights.

yes this is true. I am a very worried momma and this helps me sleep. i know it is expensive, but if it works, it is worth it IMO.

  • There's no way I could live with out it.  Personally, I don't find a false alarm to be a "hassle" when it could save the life of your baby, as it has done for countless others.

And, just for the record... I've yet to have a false alarm in 6 months.

  • We have it, and even with a few false alarms, I still consider it by far our best baby purchase.

Worth every dollar and every good night of sleep.
