All convertivle carseats = ugly???

I'm looking around at convertible carseats for our eventual purchase... and I don't like any of them!  I know safety and convenience/practicality are most important... but I can't find any that are as cute as some of the infant seats.  We have a Peg Perego infant seat (color/design: black bubbles) and I think it's adorable... same with the color shades on a lot of other infant carseats (Chicco, Bumbleride, Quinny, etc...) - are there any convertibles that are cute?  I know it's a dumb question but I'm curious.

  • I like my britax blvd pattern.  Not my fav, but for a carseat, it is acceptable.

  • you should be more concerned about safety and price then appearances.
  • Hmm... just found some cute ones by Maxi Cosi but they don't seem as big as some of the other ones (Graco, etc)... but it does say front facing up to 40 pounds. Maybe I'll check those out.

  • I think some of the Britax are cute and they are highly rated. Have you looked at those? They have some girly ones but we will probably go gender neutral just in case the next LO is a boy.

  • I agree that they are all pretty ugly. I have ?maxi cosi. I thought it was the least offensive. ?It does seem smaller, but i think it's only because the material isn't as bulky as the hideous britax carseats.

that is what we have - the priori. in black and silver. i like it a lot and its very comfy.

No shiit.  If you read my OP I said that safety was most important.  Obviously the appearance comes secondary... like I would be stupid enough to buy a carseat based on its color or pattern.

I am just curious if anyone out there has a nice-looking convertible carseat that I can look into (like I already stated).  Sheesh people.

Thank you reynar (and punk)... I think I that solves my problem.  I'll do some more research into the Maxi Cosis but assuming they fulfill all of the necessary safety requirements I think I will go with that!  The Britax ones have SO much material (and come on... cow print?  seriously?...

  • zucc - i know what you mean. i dont want a flowery pink carseat or a cow print seat in my car LOL i like it to still look like MY car and not as if a baby store threw up in it
  • We tried to match them to our interior.  DH has black interior so he got the maxi-cosi black and silver one, and I have tan interior so I got the britax diplomat in Huntingdon.  safe seats and basically not offensive.

  • Have you looked into the recaro signo? That's the one we're getting. It's pretty big, but it's not offensive or obnoxious. And it goes to 70lbs forward facing.?
  • This one is cute and safe.  Heidi loves it! She's been riding in it (rear-facing of course) for over 2 weeks now.  The cushions have cute pink/white/gray flowers on them.  We got at BRU because they were the only one's that had this pattern.  It's an Evenflo Symphony in SophiAnn.

Thanks!  It's so much lighter now (that photo was taken a month ago).  I think it's going to be more of a strawberry blonde at this point.  But I LOVE looking at the pictures from a couple months ago!

  • It IS just a carseat. It's going to stay in your car, and you just put your baby's butt in it and they're going to puke and spill things on it. ;)

Understandable... but I do have to see it my car every day!  I know most of the moms on here choose a certain color or pattern for their carseat because they liked how it looked (after they chose the model, of course).  Same deal.
