Has CIO for naps worked for anyone? Nighttime is easy, and we have put DS down awake since he was born. Naps are total opposite, and it takes a good 15-30 minutes of rocking for him to be totally asleep and then sometimes I can sneak out, but usually he will hear me and wake up and then I have to go rock him for another 5-10 minutes and this can go on for quite a while. DS naps 3x a day and I'm OVER this.
So this morning after rocking DS, he was quietly crying/fussing so I thought I'd see if he could put himself to sleep. I let him CIO for 10 minutes and when I went back in his crying had turned to screams and he was kicking and pounding his fists and covered in sweat. Poor baby
. I ended up rocking him to sleep.
Does Ferber have a chapter on naps? Any other suggestions, for books or otherwise? thanks.
Re: CIO for naps?
We had to do CIO for naps and they are still a struggle. She doesn't scream (which is nice) but she'll fuss in her crib for a good 20 minutes before she finally goes to sleep.
When she was really little I got her in the habit of falling asleep with a bottle or while nursing. Naps weren't a problem until I decided that we needed to break that habit.
