Anyone else afraid to poop???

Like you'll push the baby out?

The sad thing is that I'm a doctor :)

Addendum:  No I do not ACTUALLY think I'll push the kid out.  It's one of the many funny thoughts that have been popping into my head lately.

Re: Anyone else afraid to poop???

  • Are you serious?  I jump up and down and start cheering when I actually complete a bowel movement!  Wait until the constipation kicks in -- you won't care then!

  • Haha, no, not too much. At first I was like, "I hope this isn't too bad for the baby" but I stopped caring when I realized I had a choice between making myself poop even when it didn't want to come out and being unbelievably uncomfortable for days on end.?
  • What kind of MD are you?
    Photobucket
  • Lol - no. ;-) But eating oatmeal everyday really keeps things moving, if you know what I mean. I had the most painful constipation of my life during my first PG. I vowed not to go through that again this time. GL!
  • No... But this reminds me...I was on the phone with my mom yesterday and she was giving me all sorts of advice and she was just like "now make sure you don't push too hard when you poo because thats not good. you don't want to do that" She made me laugh!

What kind of doctor-please tell me you're not medical doctor and still thinking you can push a baby out by dropping a deuce?  Ticker please!

  • Is this baby a result of anal sex?  An assbaby?  You can poop those out!
  • You're an idiot.... nft.

  • No, I don't actually think I could push it out... it's one of those paranoid fleeting thoughts I get now that make me laugh at myself.  I'm sure it's not the last of them.  :)

  • And your what kind of Dr again? You still have not answered that.
    Photobucket
  • Well when you bear down hard that called a Valsalva manuever and it can decrease the blood flow to the baby. so if you can keep it flowing without a super teeth gritting breath holding push, that might be better.

Please don't demean those of us with PhDs who are also fully aware that we can't poop out our babies.

But to answer op question, no it isn't something I worry about. In fact, today I finally went #2 after a few days and I was so excited I had to tell DH about it. Yes, that's what my life is reduced to.

Darling exactly what type of doctor are you that you're asking a question of that sort? I'm a doctor as well - an audiologist - and even I know that you can't very well push a baby out that way.

  • Wow you guys are mean.  I was sharing a funny thought... won't do that again!  I'm a hospitalist, I take care of old people that are hospitalized.  But in my training I delivered probably 100 babies.  Which is why I thought it was funny when the thought popped into my head.  GEEZ!!

  • You probably didn't need to include that you're a doctor, and maybe should have added LOL or something to that effect.  Of course we know you didn't think you actually could poop out your baby....there just hasn't been much going on here tonight.

wont that hurt the baby? You big meanies!!!

  • If you're afraid to poop now, just wait till after you had a baby and tearing...  that's something to be afraid of!
  • Don't let these ladies get to you...

I thought I pooped my baby out tonight...then I looked in the bowl and I realized that I had indeed taken a HUGE POOP! YEAH!!!

I mean really you are the doctor of old people, so how you have delived over 100 babies, I'm not sure, but back to the point...shouldn't  you KNOW better? Something tells me that if nothing else if you were going to express your "concern" I would have left the doctor part out. Then you could have been just another one of the silly 1st-tri posters...instead you are a silly doctor.

  • Be warned... the only time you will be afraid to poop is AFTER the birth.  And it doesn't matter if it was natural, epi, or c/s.  Just sayin.

I'm sorry people are mean. It was perfectly clear to me that you were being tongue-in-cheek. I thought your post was funny, and of course I knew you weren't serious!

  • You have to be crystal clear that you're joking on this board or people jump down your throat. ? ?It's funny; they misunderstand your post and then they call YOU stupid. ?Um, ok. ?But that's how it is here, and it's not going to change, so you kind of have to learn to deal.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I have a lovely hemorrhoid and I have been afraid to poop more times than I'd like to count. I'm prepared for it to only get worse during pregnancy and probably afterwards as well. Just sayin... :)

Trust me, if you would have lurked on this board at all before posting (which I highly recommend and it's something I did when I was a newbie), you would have noticed a whole litany of stupid questions that often get posted on first tri. Things like, is it ok to eat peanut butter, grapes (yes, grapes), can I put my laptop on my lap, etc.

And unfortunately, the question you posted is another question that gets posted on here from time to time and is asked in all seriousness. So with any message board, you have to learn the way the board is. You happened to hit on a hot button issue that brings out the snark in people. Lesson learned. My suggestion: lurk a bit before posting.

  • I think most people realized you were joking!  Even me -- who said "are you serious" and added that tidbit about constipation (which I was serious about!).  Don't let the snark/flame get to ya.  This is probably one of the most entertaining posts for this Friday night -- so honestly, you should consider yourself popular!  Stick out tongue

Don't worry.  I think I might be the only one that actually read this correctly!!

I think the people who read it right are the ones who have been there!  A few weeks ago, I  posted in a thread called "Irrational Fears" (or something) that I'd just been to the bathroom, and heard a "plop" without having exerted a corresponding push. For a second, I was afraid the baby had fallen out.  I was laughing my ass off as I was typing my post.

I'm thankful that the majority of my fears are silly ones.  Fears that make me laugh are good. Fears that make me cry are bad. Easy enough!

  • I cant believe it as well that so many of these posts are honest questions and sometimes quirky comments and that some of you get so snarky over it? Maybe take a step back and think is this post worth typing or am i just being overly hormonal- I think alot of you are. Its getting to the point where this site is not even helpful at all and you guys can keep it. Im out of here

  • as$holes.  seriously.
  • Wow, people really ran with that....I know what you mean! Of course you know you can't push the baby out while pooping. But the thought has crossed my mind, while trying really hard to go. I must admit, lately, I have had some pretty crazy, no sence, thoughts pop into my head. It's probably just all that is going on in my body, being pregnant and all Big Smile
  • LOL. Um, no. But I was afraid to poop AFTER DS was born.
