Symtpoms

Re: Symtpoms

  • the amount of food I have bought and then had to throw out because I no longer want to eat it and it went bad is...more than I would like. I never looked on my previous 1st trimester fondly because it was the same, but wow experiencing it all over again just reinforces that this is easily my least favorite part of pregnancy.

@thescarletmom oh is that what causes it? I've had such bad spells of lightheadedness and dizziness. I've just been trying to drink lots of fluids and eat snacks often. Good to know I guess. Sorry you are going through it too. You seem to have had a pretty rough go so far. Hopefully second trimester helps

Omg yes, the exhaustion is next level-like, "I just woke up but could nap again immediately" kind of tired 😩 I'm around the same stage (3+ something) and I swear I already feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. That weird taste/smell thing is real too! It’s like a metallic-y, stale kind of vibe that just lingers? And everything smells too strong lately, even normal stuff. No nausea yet either but I’m bracing myself 😅 Glad I'm not the only one feeling things so early—let’s complain and survive together!
  • Currently 15w6d and I have been experiencing a lot of cramping this over the past 3 days. It’s been mild, but definitely coming and going all day and sometimes at night. No spotting. Of course this has caused me to spin a little. I talked with my midwife and she said this can be normal, but had me do a urine test which came back fine. According to research, it seems like the cramping could be all of a sudden because the uterus is moving out of the pelvis area right about now. Of course though my anxiety is quite high. But I do have my 16w appointment on Monday and hopefully will get the peace of mind that I need. Has anyone else experienced this before?

@hilaryandbaby1 I'm 14w4, and the cramping started really suddenly for me a few weeks ago. Same as you, no spotting, mild but decently frequent. I *freaked*. Went to midwife and she did an ultrasound. For me, they were/are uterine contractions! She could see it on the ultrasound. Now that I know that, I can tell that's what they are by just paying attention to the feeling. Theoretically, if you rest more frequently and drink like, twice as much water as you think you should it can help ❤️ my midwife said it's normal and not anything to worry about with subsequent babies unless there's severe pain or bleeding to go along with it. I'm not sure how "normal" or common it is for a first baby, but you might ask your provider about it Monday?
  • @thescarletmom Thank you for sharing this! I also had a friend mention this to me as I heard it can be very common. I honestly think it is this as it’s possible with first pregnancies. My midwife is supposed to call me today to check in, so I’m going to ask about this. I drink so much water, so I guess I just need to really over do it haha. For resting, do you know if that means like truly lying down or just refraining from activities? I’ve been working from home all week at a desk, so wondering if this is still not considered resting.
  • @hilaryandbaby1 since recent studies have proved there's very little efficacy, if any at all, to true bedrest, I take it to mean just not "overdoing it" and going on long walks or exercise routines. I also have a desk job so outside of baby wrangling at home, it's a lot of "resting" for me as well. My midwife told me that I need "double the amount of water I think I do" 😂 it's common for pregnancy to deplete your electrolytes so thoroughly you need an outrageous amount to keep your muscles from cramping.
  • Realized I put my message in wrong thread lol

I'm struggling so bad with headaches. Increased water intake and rest are not helping. Switching out n/v for this, I just don't know what's worse. I definitely don't remember this with my first pregnancy. It's just awful. For those who had migraines, did you take anything or do anything to help it?
  • @blossomingmama i got terrible migraines with my 2nd and 3rd babies. I took tylenol if it was so painful I couldn't sleep through it, but generally that was the only thing that helped much. Mainly sleeping it off, and drinking more water/keeping an eye on how much I was eating. I had the ability to turn off my office lights if I got one at work, and that helped because my migraines are light sensitive. Those headache sleeves that you chill I think would be very helpful! I've always done the "homemade" version and wet washcloths but they don't stay cool for long. Do you have migraines outside of pregnancy?

@thescarletmom I've got to try that! Thank you! & no I don't normally have migraines outside of pregnancy, and truly don't remember having any either my first. Keeping stress to a minimum, drinking more water than normal, and watching what I've been consuming has been helping.

On another positive note, I've been feeling my little minnow wiggle around so much between last week and this week. Now I'm feeling the moving around a lot more, it's so nice to have that feeling back while it's light that is 😆. Got to start my bump photos asap and get back into prenatal yoga now that my energy is somewhat returning.
  • I have noticed the last week I have been having heart palpitations. Anyone else? My first step is to lower my caffeine intake. I am probably going over the recommended amount because I don’t really keep track. I’ll just be sitting there not exerting myself and my heart will start fluttering super fast.
  • Not experiencing heart fluttering with no exertion but definitely shortness of breath when laying flat on back or on my right side or if my arms are close together while lying on my side. I know that's due to the IVC being compressed. This coupled with pretty intense back pain. Already feeling like a big balloon as if I'm in my third trimester. Ordered my preg pillow and have been using the belly band on days where I've already done a lot of bending/cleaning. Everything just seems to be going so fast. I drink coffee but can't seem to ever really finish a full cup before feeling like I've had enough. Caffeine definitely affects us differently though while pregnant so that could definitely be it, try to be mindful over the next few days of how many cups you're having and see if that's it.
  • I am experiencing groin pain. My vaginal area or pubic bones(?) feel so sore. I have a terribly weak pelvic floor and already pee a little when I sneeze. It’s 1,000x worse now. I tripped up the stairs the other day and peed my pants. I feel like a 3 year old.
  • Oh man, @robinj716 sorry you're feeling like this. I can relate with the groin pain, been having that as of the last few weeks. Ordered a pregnancy pillow to try and alleviate some of that pain when trying to sleep. Can't turn like I used to without that groin pain, it's a pain. Have you tried pelvic floor exercises/kegals? I've been trying to do pelvic floor exercises myself recently when I remember. All this and increased vag discharge, supposedly it's from the increase fluids from baby. Bought some panty liners now I'm wearing daily.
  • Movement has been crazy today. This morning I felt a ton of pressure like he was balling up. Then I felt more flutters this afternoon and this evening I’m feeling some decent kicks. I’m excited for more of this.
  • @emeraldcity603 this past few days/weekend all of a sudden I've been feeling baby every day multiple times a day! It's been so exciting and such a relief. The movements are definitely one of my very favorite parts of pregnancy.
