Re: Question Thread!

  • I'm only eating lunch meats if I heat up the sandwich but I don't like my bread too toasty or it feels hard

  • I've used a Doppler for all of my pregnancies after my first mmc. It helps relieve anxiety for me. I try not to search for a hb until they've found it in office using their Doppler. Usually around 12 weeks.
  • I eat lunch meat if I want to, I didn't my entire first pregnancy and craved a turkey club often. Since then, I've realized that listeria outbreaks are more common in lettuce than in deli meat. So I'd avoid salad more than deli meat if it's listeria you're worried about.
  • I’m eating lunch meat this go around. I havent had the energy to make my lunch in the morning though this week.
  • My husband has the flu, and I think I’m getting it. Ugh! This is my 1st pregnancy and I’m 8&6 days. Just want to make sure my little bean is safe. What would you recommend?
  • 😩 I'm sorry you're feeling sick! Depending on your symptoms, if you've got fever or aches Tylenol is safe. For stomach things it's tougher because vomiting could be pregnancy instead. Deff fluids and rest if you can

  • Is anyone else having the type of nausea that only gets better with food? Mine gets worse throughout the day and I only feel fine when I'm eating, but I also can't spend the day eating 😫 I find the B6 lozenges and ginger ale gross right now, so besides a never ending supply of wintergreen mints I am struggling here. I sent my doc a message to see if I can get prescribed something but still waiting to hear back

  • I didn't realize the food connection when I had my first, and I was constantly nauseous. If I don't let my stomach go empty I'm much better of. Try small snacks all day rather than 3 large meals. I keep crackers in my desk to snack on.
  • I am the same. I am snacking allllll day to keep the nausea at bay. I bought a ton of healthy snacks so I’m not just reaching for junk (even though I just ate a cookie lol). But I keep crackers by the bed and snacks in my bags because I’m the same. I also can’t eat a big meal anymore which is hard when the food tastes so good! I end up feeling like it’s going to come back up.

  • Congratulations all. I am at 9w but found from today’s ultrasound that my baby isn’t grown since my last ultrasound sound 2w ago and no heart beat. Are they any chances that I can still get this working. I feel devastated.
  • @lavub I'm so sorry to hear that. Are you scheduled to see your doc again soon to follow up on the scan? Generally the heartbeat can be seen from the 7 week mark

  • @lavub I had a coworker who at 10 weeks they said the pregnancy wasn’t viable. They went back the next week for the followup and they found the heartbeat and the baby is a healthy 5 year old now. All the positive energy your way!

  • @lavub wishing you positive news!!
  • @lavub if you saw the hb 2 weeks ago and now there is no hb, I'm afraid things are likely over.  I would still look for a follow up though or a second opinion before doing anything.  My first daughter I was told had no hb and I'd miscarry after my first US. She's 5 now.  My second daughter there was a hb, but the ob told me it was a molar pregnancy and I had to terminate.  I went to a larger hospital for a second opinion and she was fine I did not terminate.  She is 3.
  • Is anyone else having the discomfort of a stretching abdomen? Yesterday it was on the sides of my belly, like I'd been doing crunches, today its lower under my belly in my pelvic region. I'm sure it's normal (they act like everything possible is) but it is throwing me off.
  • Yes, I do feel stretched. I also get random sensations if I move a certain way feeling like an elbow is jabbing me in the abs. Way above where baby is. I legit thought my 5yo was leaving ok me with her bony elbow and realized she was nowhere near me. I recall this with my last pregnancy too. It’s so weird because it feels like a lot of pressure pushing I legit think something’s pushing on me. Must be something weird with my abs stretching and moving
  • Yes I've been feeling it too! Sometimes I'll feel like my body is stretching on the sides, or if I'm shifting around in my sleep I'll suddenly feel sore

Nasal congestion can be caused by various factors such as colds, allergies, dry mucous membranes or other conditions. Here are some tips that can help you deal with nasal congestion:
Drink plenty of fluids: Hot beverages, such as tea or smoky concoctions, can help soften mucus and make breathing easier.
Rest and sleep: Rest and adequate sleep can help the body fight infections and recover.
Elevating the head when sleeping: A pillow under the head can help prevent mucus from running down the nose and throat.
  • Yes me too!
  • Has anyone had really bad headaches like every day? I'm 15 weeks and they are horrible right now
  • I was getting headaches for awhile right before Christmas. I never get them and didn't with my 3 girls, I'm assuming this will be a boy because of the headaches and other differences, but my friend was recommended calm magnesium powder drink by her midwife while pregnant and since adding that to my days I have only had one headache. . . When I did have headaches, Tylenol was only dulling them but making them go away.
  • Yes really bad headaches throughout the week
  • Anyone else keep getting asked if their pregnancy was planned? I'm almost 30, been married for more than 5 years, and already have one toddler. I just can't fathom why people keep asking me this question as if they are being so well meaning. I can't imagine asking someone that question, I would feel rude.
  • Has anyone seen a chiropractor and had a good experience? Or a bad experience? My OB used to have a PT but they closed and I'm desperate for relief for my hip and back pain. By this point in my last pregnancy I was in so much pain and I'm already starting to get stiff and in pain again at 14 weeks.
  • Re: planned pregnancy....I think you should make them feel awkward and ask if they want to see your ovulation chart and which days and what times you had sex. Regardless if it was planned or not just to make them feel weird.

Re: chiro .... I have seen one for each of my pregnancies. They are amazing. They have great tables that let you lie on your belly even at 38 weeks pregnant. Go to one they make things better and help position baby for an easier birth.
  • I was getting terrible migraines for close to two weeks and my doc suggested I take Magnesium (400mg) and B2 (100mg) and it’s helped! I hope your headaches subside. Definitely ask your doctor their opinion.
  • 14 weeks here - I wake up feeling great but after eating breakfast I start to slowly decline the rest of the day. I start to feel so bloated and uncomfortable from slow digestion. By the end of the day I feel like a whale lol Anyone else figured out how to combat this? I don't want to regularly take gasx if possible and am already trying to eat slower. Would love to hear anything that has worked for you!
  • I have had the terrible headaches since week 12. They are slowly getting further apart but I agree the Tylenol wouldn’t even touch it. I chalked it up to hormones because I was drinking plenty of fluids. Good advice here!

I had a prenatal massage yesterday and it felt like heaven. My hips were bad before pregnancy and it has definitely gotten worse. It helped some of the pain. I went to the chiro for much of my life (then I had a fusion). I have to admit I would be nervous but I’ve heard so many great things about it during pregnancy. I have been doing yoga too which I find also helps strengthen my back and hips.

  • Anyone getting worse morning sickness weeks 13-15+? First trimester was major food aversion, constant queasyness but no vomiting or retching.
Now those have calmed down but I gag so hard i throw up if i go in my fridge or throw something out. sometimes its out of no where- what gives? Just me? is this likely sticking throught the pregnancy?
  • @promotedfromdogmom I had a rough first trimester from a nausea/vomitting perspective. I’m now 16 weeks and that nausea is gone, but my gag reflex is strong as ever. If I even think about swallowing a pill, I’ll start gagging sometimes. Or if I brush my teeth for too long, or sometimes if I’m eating…I think it’s here to stay but I definitely hate it. I miss enjoying food the way that I used to…
  • @promotedfromdogmom are you taking anything for the nausea? Mine isn't worse but it's sticking around (I'm 15 weeks now) and I went through B6 supplements then Diclegis but both made things worse. Now I'm on Reglan and as long as I keep up every 8 hours then I'm feeling fine. With my first pregnancy the nausea lasted 22 weeks 🙃 maybe you'll need to also try a few things to see which works best for you

  • thanks! I'm not on anything for it. I dont get a ton of time with my Dr. I'm glad you have something that works!
  • Yes, wonderful experience with a chiropractor.  You can search for ones that specialize in maternity care, but most all of them should be safe and helpful to relieve your pain.
  • Not so much the gas pain, but the gas smell is horrendous!!
  • ВвI think you should see a medical professional in your situation for counselling and advice. If you are concerned about your husband's illness and the possible impact on you and your baby, it is advisable to discuss the situation with your doctor. He or she will be able to assess your condition, provide appropriate advice and give you the necessary information on how to maintain your health and keep your baby safe in this situation.едите комментарий
  • Has anyone had normal NIPT blood testing and then thickened nuchal fold at the anatomy scan? I tried to do the 12 week ultrasound where they also had tried to measure nuchal thickness but he was not in a cooperative position, so it just came up this week. I’m not freaking out since the blood screening is reassuring, but nothings 100%.

Anyone having vaginal pain/swelling from pressure? This baby almost feels like it’s going to fall out ALREADY!

It was confirmed baby is super low and head down and she said it explains my pressure and lower back pain but it’s becoming VERY uncomfortable walking around and even sitting.
I’m “almost 1cm” dilated but cervical length isn’t shortening or funneling so they aren’t concerned and said it could be from all the extra pressure and possibly a sensitive cervix.

i don’t remember being this uncomfortable this early with my son! Anyone else??
  • @sph97 can you try a maternity belt to help? They have ones that just lift your belly, but other ones that strap between your legs too. I had an uncomfortable vaginal vericose vein with my second and that helped take the pressure off to fix it.
