Re: 1st Trimester Symptoms

  • @fininevermore I am so thirsty! Maybe because it's summer?

Anyone else having lower back pain that isn't necessarily attributable to something else/seems to be related to the pregnancy?

  • @hedgepig I'm also having lower back pain, mostly where spine meets hips and a bit into the hip joints too. I feel like I'm 20 years older walking around the grocery store with a hand constantly on my back.
  • The fatigue is real! I’m so tired lately which is annoying because my work is so physical. I’m also incredibly thirsty too.
  • I tried the advice of eating first thing in the morning and then keeping something in my stomach at all times, and it seemed like it really helped. I wasn't nearly as nauseous, and was more hungry (and food sounded more appetizing). Unfortunately all I want to eat is carbs and CHEESE, and all the salty pickled foods. And I was trying to reduce my sodium for my blood pressure, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @hedgepig I feel that!! My main craving has been dairy.  Milk, yogurt, cheese, whatever. I'm finding some work around with lactose free products, but it's been a struggle.

This week seems to be red meat. Definitely easier to manage.
  • You know when you pinch yourself to see if it hurts just to make sure it’s real?

Like that but squeezing the boob.
  • @hedgepig Maybe it is summer. Last time I got pregnant in the fall and gave birth right before summer, so I skipped being hot and uncomfortable. At least this time DH will turn on the fan for me at night because I need it, even though it makes him cold. I told him I’d keep him warm, lol.
  • @hedgepig im also like idk what’s happening because i seem to have a mix of symptoms from both my boy and girl pregnancies
  • This is my 3 rd baby. I feel run down and hungry but nauseous, boobs feel heavy, peeing so much, ligament stretching is weird feelings. Also I’m sooo friggin hot all the time

Yesterday it was 106 here! We live in south Texas! Sooo it’s safe to say I’m hot all day!
It’s funny though, bc 90’s feel great and “breezy” even though it’s still scorching 😆
the random flutters that feel like baby movement is weird and non stop.
A few days I’ll have almost zero symptoms besides my boobs being SO sore/sensitive. They’re definitely more full and barely staying in. Just turned 5 weeks today. Random nausea hits and we aren’t telling anyone until we can’t hide it. 😂 my other 4 kids everyone knew as soon as i found out, but I’m really enjoying our privacy this time. We recently got off and deleted all social media accounts, it’s been so refreshing!

I will say, pregnant at 29, is WAY different than my other three pregnancies at 20, 21, and 23. (23 being my twins)

Some of y’all saying yalls symptoms for each gender being mixed, is exactly how my twin pregnancy was!!! I had never experienced it all at once so by 4 weeks (i found out at 3) i told my husband, it’s either a boy or twins. I kept saying i had a feeling it was twins. My body just felt SO different.
9 weeks confirmed twins - they ended up both being boys. 😂 so with the mixed symptoms, I’m super eager to see y’all’s genders and if multiples or not.
  • Anyone have experience with increased migraines during pregnancy? I have always gotten occasional migraine with aura (and sometimes aura with no headache), but have had 2 in as many days this week. They haven't been very bad, but I am hoping that this isn't the start of a trend...

  • Also, anyone have things that are working doe them for nausea relief? I just got some SeaBands, and whether it's placebo effect, coincidence or actual effectiveness, it does seem to be helping at least somewhat.

  • @hedgepig with my first i did. They’re horrible. Warm baths with no lights on and magnesium/ salt bath.
Also, i learned dehydration can cause them, so TONS of water help me avoid them. Those are the worst!! I hope you find relied

@k_sims I’m glad you’re able to enjoy the secret this time! My coworker and I were due 2 days apart when I was pregnant with DS2 and she was absolutely miserable from the get go. Turned out to be twins for her. Multiples definitely amplify the symptoms. I feel exactly the same as previous pregnancies so we’ll see if I have another boy on the way.

@hedgepig I get them too with aura. Dehydration is definitely a trigger for me and I think the cause of my 3 day migraine last weekend. It’s been so hot here plus the added thirst from pregnancy I thought I was drinking enough but maybe not. My SIL just started taking a high dose of B2 for her migraines, might be worth asking if that’s an option during pregnancy.

Anyone else waking up in the middle of the night just ready to start the day? 😐 I’m exhausted all day and then can’t sleep more than 4-5 hours at a time. I don’t remember this starting so early in the past.
  • Yes!!!! 4/5am I’m ready to goooo. But also I’m exhausted so i love that combo. 🙃 😂
the aura migraines are debilitating! I never had one until my first pregnancy, and then you can’t even take any good stuff for it by that point.
I’ll have a few days with zero symptoms then a few days with tons of symptoms it’s so weird. I haven’t had a pregnancy like this one before. Very confused on what to expect.
  • @k_sims @kmw611 Thanks ladies! I will hydrate up and see if thay helps!

Y'ALL. This bloating is unreal. I'm 7w2d and I can't even remotely button shorts that fit great 2 weeks ago. And the feeling of anything on my belly feels terrible 😭

  • Is it just me or does the nausea just hit you out of nowhere!? Just now I was outside, feeling great, talking about my craving of the day (Texas Roadhouse rolls)… then 10 minutes later I had to go inside to lay down from intense nausea and suddenly the rolls don’t sound good lol

  • @mrscarolynb The speed of cravings/aversion coming and going is crazy! I never know what will sound good from minute to minute!

  • @k_sims my symptoms have been very on and off. Either puking multiple times a day or barely even nauseated. Definitely a mind game! Love that you guys are keeping the secret between you two ❤️ and also, my pregnancies from age 25 to 29 were SO different too. Idk how these older mamas do it! And now, at 31 im dreading some of the late term symptoms already!

@hedgepig im so sorry to hear about your migraine. The only 3 migraines ive had in my life were all while I was pregnant. Mine involved vision changes followed by a severe headache 30mins later. I hope you are feeling better! Good idea to focus on hydration. Also- ive been interested in the seabands too. Hard lemon and peppermint candies have been helping me the most, especially at work.

@kmw611 why does the insomnia hit so early?! By 4:30 im wide awake- doesnt matter what time i went to sleep!

@mrscarolynb my nausea/vomiting has been hitting me out of nowhere too. It’s awful :( i can never stomach the though of what I packed for lunch most days even though it sounded appetizing the night before!
  • The nausea is hitting me so much harder than previous pregnancies. Ugh, I'm treating with ginger ale and crackers and it's mostly working.
Also, *TMI* so much discharge, I keep worrying that I'm spotting, but then when I go to the bathroom it's just discharge.
  • @night_nurse Oooh, lemon hard candies just got added to my shopping list for today. Anything sour has been working for me, so hopefully that works too!

  • We loaded up on ginger ale since I’ve been so nauseous in the morning, but in the afternoon it fades enough for me to want to eat. For some reason, I’m craving salad so I bought 3 bags of greens. My OB will be happy to hear that!  I forgot to get croutons though, so my husband might be sacrificing his Doritos to the cause, lol.

Ok yes to the above discharge comment!! So much! 😅

the nothing on your stomach i also feel here. I can fit into my shorts but they’re tight and then i feel like i can’t breathe so i wear something else haha!

The bloat is SO real. Also wondering how much is strictly bloat and the other small percent muscle memory 😫

newest symptom is feeling not hungry… but then also feeling like I’m going to faint if i don’t eat. Howwww?! I try to eat small meals and just more often throughout the day and feel worse after them! Any of y’all experiencing that and if so what’s yalls solutions, besides sucking it up 😂😂
  • So I've been taking 50 mg B6 and a Unisom at night (as recommended by my doc to help nausea) and it is really helping! It doesn't totally eliminate the nausea, but there are now parts of my day when I don't feel sick at all, which is wonderful. I also have 10 mg B6 gummies that I have been taking during the day and they may be helping too? If you are struggling, I definitely recommend this!

The fatigue yesterday was so profound. I just want to sleep all day 😴

  • This is my first baby, first pregnancy ever, and I’m 40. Short of spotting, I have every single symptom- sore boobs - fatigue - excessive urinating (omgah every 15-30 mins) my husband says I radiate heat - he also says my hormones are a little much lol - starting to get nausea for everything trying to maintain calories and drink fluids. All I gotta say is.. is it nap time yet? I got my BFP yesterday but I’ve been feeling this way probably since day 1. Good luck mamas I hope my baby sticks. Can’t wait to meet em
  • Ooh, I was doing okay on symptoms. Now I’m sitting in the backseat of the minivan on a road trip and the nausea is real…
  • @halfanewt Oof, I know the feeling. Hope you can get some relief and that it’s not too long.
  • I have already complained about this, but I am back, because the bloat is unbelievable 😯 I look so pregnant already, and there's no bump, just bloat 😭

  • @hedgepig the bloat!!!!

It’s so bad for me too - I just went to old navy yesterday and bought all linen/elastic band pants and shorts
  • The sore boobs are the worst! I used to love taking my bra off at the end of the day, not anymore. That plus the fatigue, like I need 30 mins to nap in the middle of the day fatigue.
  • I've been eating these B6 gummies during the day when the nausea starts creeping in and they seem like they help. I'm using them in combination with a 50 mg B6 + Unisom at night, and they are making me feel pretty much normal. But I think they'd help even without the B6+Unisom. If you're having trouble with nausea, check them (or something similar out).

  • @hedgepig That is so exciting! 💓 I’m so happy for you! It’s a lot, but take it day by day!
I told my husband that at 4 weeks but still never truly thought it would be me either… and then it was. 🤣

  • @hedgepig same!! Im finally feeling just a little better with less constant nausea and more-so just here and there. I want to enjoy this easier time because my body does not like late pregnancy so I know what’s coming lol
  • Ugh, I spoke too soon 😫 @night_nurse I felt soooooo awful last night. Hopefully we are still trending better though. And my energy levels are definitely better! Now I am sooooo hungry though, all the time, and while the aversions are way better, I still struggle to find balanced things to eat, especially protein.

  • I always feel awful until mid-afternoon and by then I don’t want anything healthy. For example, yesterday we went to the market and bought a bunch of healthy stuff and by the time we were done I was starving so we hit up Five Guys, lol. What was surprising to me was that I was able to keep it down, considering the nausea. At least today I’m swinging the opposite way with salmon, baked potatoes and salad.
  • @fininevermore Right? I feel worse in the afternoon and evening, so dinner is such a struggle. Shopping while nauseous/with aversions is the opposite of shopping hungry - I walk through the store and come out with almost nothing because it all sounds so gross 😅 I have to remind myself that I have a family to feed...

  • The nausea is hitting me harder the last several days. Based on that I'm leaning girl since my one boy pregnancy was minimal nausea. Trying to get ready for my daughter's birthday/party tomorrow and I'm currently huddled in bed hoping it will pass so I can get stuff done. We haven't told the kids yet, but with the oldest two (10 yo and almost 9 yo), they might catch on. 😜
