We're starting to look at resumes today for the people applying for my position. The imposter syndrome has kicked in. Yay! I was hoping this wouldn't happen.
I’ve only been a part of one BMB before so forgive me if this is premature, but do people want to discuss the possibility of moving over to another platform? Personally I’m a lot more comfortable posting photos of kids in a private venue. My other group had moved by this point in our pregnancies so that’s why I thought I’d ask!
If so, what platform appeals to most? My previous group uses Facebook which seems to work well, but I know there are other spots which have also been good options for groups in the past
@miss_lynn9 in my BMB someone created a thread that if you were interested in joining the secret FB group you had to comment and have at least 10 likes on your comment to prevent the lurkers from joining. Then someone created the page and we sent her our emails and she invited us. There may be an easier or better way to do it though!
@muggsd I can't speak for all, but I know I'm kind of in denial that we're in the final stretch. It's gone fast!! Definitely time to think about moving. Thanks for bringing it up and taking the first step to set it up. ❤️
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader. , 💙💙💙💙💙💙
I fully panicked because I got locked out of my FB years ago and couldn’t figure out how to get back in. I thought I would miss out. Husband fixed it in like 5 mins tonight when I mentioned that we all might migrate to it. Lol. So I’m in now!
My previous BMB is also on Facebook, so I vote for that as well. Ummmm...if we don't own a colander, is a strainer acceptable? I guess I haven't achieved full adulthood yet, lol, though I did get an airfryer for Xmas.
I’d love to join the FB group! This group has really helped me this pregnancy especially as a FTM.
On another note, I wanted to share this story from yesterday.
I had to go to CVS to get a prescription for a fungal cream (because I’m having such intense night sweats I got a small external yeast infection). While at CVS, I decided to grab some Clorox wipes on sale and decided to treat myself to a new nail polish. I found a glitter color called “Congratulations” Essie brand and was so excited to get it because it’s got blue glitter in it and I was thinking it could be the color I wear for when baby is born since I’m having a boy. Anyhoo, I go to the pharmacy to get my prescription cream and check out and guess what - I don’t have my wallet on me 😫. I had no way to pay and the lady and I just kind of stared at each other for an awkward moment until I asked if my husband could come get the prescription later. She recovered from the awkwardness and suggested we put my shopping in a little basket behind the counter so he could get all of it.
I left and cried in my car because even though the lady was nice I’m super hormonal and was so embarrassed. Texted DH and asked him to grab the prescription, Clorox, and nail polish after work (I was on lunch break and wouldn’t be able to go back out). Fast forward 4 hours. DH comes home and hands me a CVS bag with not only my stuff, but two additional nail polishes and a matte lip cream. I was like, what are these? Turns out the extra stuff was behind the basket and the pharmacist asked if he thought that was mine as well and since I didn’t specify just one nail polish he thought it was all mine 🤦♀️. So it’s $60 extra costmetics that I won’t use because they aren’t my colors.
But, the silver lining is that I have two friends visiting later this month and I actually think these colors will work well for them, so we’re making them into belated Christmas gifts. When life gives you lemons make lemonade… or when you get extra costmetics, regift them 🙃
And finally-once I did get the cream, it provided much needed itch relief so everything turned out okay in the end but honestly I was a mess yesterday!
@excitedforpiscesbaby I left my wallet at home last week when I went to Walmart.. big load of groceries plus household things thru self checkout… I live 30 minutes away and had no one to rescue me. That was fun 🙃 Pregnancy brain makes for funny memories that’s for sure!
@excitedforpiscesbaby@TortugaAzul oh no! I totally feel you guys on the pregnancy brain. I’ve been having quite a few mishaps lately too. Leaving my purse or phone at home, my brain randomly telling my hands that they don’t need to continue holding what they’re holding, not being able to use analytical skills to install batteries or turn things on. Not plugging my phone in to charge which is crazy for me.
@disneybaby23@excitedforpiscesbaby My favorite pregnancy brain symptom is forgetting words for things I use on the daily. I had a full conversation with my husband on installing new stairs and remembered all the technical terms in relation to that. Turned around to ask my son to close the …… what’s that thing called that holds all the food?? Had to be reminded “fridge” 😂
@TortugaAzul OMG, I feel like such an idiot at work sometimes because I am constantly forgetting the names for things.
Over the weekend, I lost my favorite knitting needles. For 2 days, I engaged hubby in tearing the house apart to find them. I even gave in and ordered 2 new pairs off of Amazon. Hubby eventually found them...on my office chair. Not the desk where it would make complete sense for odds & ends to collect. Why did I put the needles on the chair???
I'm with you all on the pregnancy brain. It's horrible, I forget the simplest words. I was teaching someone today and I sounded like I had no idea what I was talking about.
On the “forgetting words” brain too! Also with the “thoughts stop mid sentence” track, too!!’y team has gotten very used to be going “and then…fuck. Brain.” and they are lovely in helping me get the next word 🤣
Though you guys- I am pressing my luck timing wise. I just hired a new division lead- she’s fabulous. She is in the process of hiring 3 more people to the division she manages under me. Awesome! She is targeting offers and start date of Feb 21. So we can do an onsite here in Baltimore (where I am and close to where the 4th person on that team lives) 21-23. You know. A week before my C-section. Should we start placing bets on if I actually make it, and if I do if I go into labor there?! 🤣
I honestly have never been more thankful to be coming up on a maternity leave than during this school year. My class is ROUGH. I’ve been pretty lucky for the past 9 years so I guess it was my time. I had one of my kindergarteners tell me I was stupid today 🙃 but she is a fiesty little thing and I honestly just laugh about it
@heytallmama yep totally there on the time crunch. Business tax returns are due on March 15th and my due date is the 21st so not feeling confident about this but we’ll see if I make it.
For my randoms, got my results back and my glucose test was too high. 😭 got my glucose checking machine and lancets last night and feeling pretty bummed. The food they recommend is so boring and the time frames are so intense. Figuring it out though and my husband is on board to do the food modification with me so hopefully it won’t be too bad. Just a lifestyle change for sure. If anyone with GD has food/snack suggestions would love to hear them!
@disneybaby23 Im a GD mama. I don’t follow the diet because it’s definitely bland and boring and some how still carb heavy. I focus on getting plenty of protein and good fats. I’ve found a sprouted grain bread that doesn’t spike my sugars when I want a sandwich or toast. And then the key is to be active after you eat. Take a 15 minute walk or something just don’t sit or lay down for that first hour. We can talk more about it if you’d like.
My friend and I took our kids to an indoor play gym yesterday. The kids had so much fun. I had fun too but chasing a couple 2yr olds around through tubes and down slides was exhausting.
@miss_lynn9 I took my son to one of those on a rainy day and then we got a stomach bug and now we are sick again (although I think this one came from daycare). Now I'm afraid to go back, even though it was really fun for him.
Definitely had contractions for a solid hour today. Luckily was able to stop them with hydration and rest. Happy to have tomorrow off work for the holiday so I can keep an eye on myself without the kids having me get up every five minutes for every little thing they need.
@cheznet Stomach bug seems to be going around here. Couple of people were out sick from work and then my daughter came down with a 24-hr something. I got home from work on Thursday and the first thing she said to me was "Mama, I throw up" and then she vomited all over the couch. Fortunately she's better now.
random question.. 29 weeks 2 days with twins is it normal for them to “drop” feeling a lot more pressure down there then earlier today. My husband made a comment about it
@k_keyser1996 only one baby for me but I definitely had a couple times this pregnancy so far where all of the sudden something would shift over night and baby would be in a new spot. Enough so that my husband or my mom would notice. My bump growth has not been even, definitely little spurts.
Am I alone or anyone else having trouble sleeping? I wake up at 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30 sore and heartburn so get up to have a snack and move to the couch then cause its just comfier. 3.30am has been my witching hour since my dad passed a few hours ago but please let me know if I'm alone in this? I'm going to be a zombie today. Normally I can fall back asleep but not last night.
@travellingjess Did I read correctly that your dad passed a few hours ago? I'm so sorry for your loss.
I have to get up to pee at least 3 times a night and we are all sick in my house, so my toddler was up a LOT the night before last, but last night it was blissfully only up to pee.
Re: Weekly Randoms 01/11
@miss_lynn9 I hope you find some good candidates!
Does someone volunteer to moderate the FB group? I don't want to 😅
I’ll start a thread in the next few days to have people “voted in” as well
