Re: December Symptoms

  • Waves of nausea are getting more frequent. Also bloating has made an appearance this morning. Also, my resting heart rate has been going up a beat every couple of days, which is always fun to watch.  :p The vivid dreams seemed to have slowed down.

  • @stashattack Yes to resting HR going up always being a fun one to watch - at least I can physically SEE why I’m so tired with my body working extra! I also always have vivid pregnancy dreams…and pregnancy insomnia along with them.

My nausea has been so on and off depending on the day, but this is the first pregnancy (and it’s #5 for me) where I’ve actually vomited and not just been nauseous.

  • This pregnancy is so different from my first one so far (which I’m kinda okay with because the first one was rough)

im peeing all the time and hungry all the time. I was super exhausted yesterday but I’m not sure if it’s from the pregnancy or just because I was so excited (bfp Thursday night) that I couldn’t sleep and didn’t fall asleep until late. I’m having some cramping which I expected, I have an “irritable uterus” so I get a lot of cramping and round ligament pain even from the beginning.
  • So far I am nauseous on a off with some dizzy spells and very vivid dreams!
  • OMG definitely dealing with insomnia which is not helped by the 3yo. Everytime I finally manage to drift off to sleep, she wakes up crying for me.

  • @stashattack its like they can sense when we are just about to fall asleep! Apparently it doesn’t get better once they’re older either! I’ll try to take a nap and my 7year old will come wake me up just as I’m falling asleep like dad isn’t in the other room😂

  • I just had my first emotional side effect. We’re dealing with some stress with childcare and I started crying about it at dinner. I haven’t cried in like two months. Also feeling very bloated and my sense of smell is annoyingly high. I also have very faint pink discharge which I’ll call implantation bleeding since I’m only 4w. It really just got me today that, if I’m lucky and baby sticks, I’ve got at least 8 weeks of first trimester fun ahead to deal with, with a toddler and work and the holidays.
  • UGh the nausea and mood swings have hit full force in the last day. Yeah I don't think I'll be able to keep this a secret when we see family over the holidays.

  • I’m starting to get the fatigue and my hunger though persistent, is becoming particular. Extremely hungry but all I want is soup and beef sticks and the burritos from the gas station restaurant down the road. I used to be able to just eat anything and everything!
  • @justyouraveragemama lol I love how you can turn a test and suddenly it's like "oh you're pregnant? Don't even think about a turkey sub"...but gas station burrito is totally a-ok,no questions asked. (For clarity: I totally am still eating a deli sandwich if I want one. My odds of getting listeria are roughly the same as being struck by lightning, and are far higher from a lot of other sources than from deli meat, but you never hear someone say "oh hey pregnant lady, lay off the cantaloupe". And gas station food can be hidden gems so if that sounds good, heck, have two.)
  • @ki1244 haha I don’t really restrict my eating at all either but like my last pregnancy, deli meat isn’t appealing….unless it’s hard salami😂  I was just thinking of the whole listeria with deli meat but not with like lettuce or things like that lol!

it is like a legit restaurant kinda like knockoff chipotle but sometimes they put these small burritos in the warmer thing and they are so good! You just never know when they’ll be in there so I just think about them a lot😂
  • @justyouraveragemama ok that's maybe different...I was picturing those foil-wrapped reheated things filled with meat-like substance that are more like hangover therapy than an actual food item. (Around here our gas stations are generally more like gas+some trucker items, mainly, although one chain has some BOMB pizza. But what I would do for a Wawa within 1300 miles of me...)

Now I really want salami. (That's what she said?)
  • @ki1244 yeah this gas station is technically a “travel center” so it has 3 restaurants inside of it! 2/3 are knock off chipotle and chick-fil-a and then the other is a godfathers pizza!

    also what’s a Wawa?
  • @justyouraveragemama gas station chain out east, like Mid-Atlantic states. They always seem to be super clean and laid out like a little grocery market, and they have the BEST sandwiches and snacks. When we're out visiting DH's family I get super annoyed if we stop for gas anywhere else.

What the H state are you in that they still have Godfathers??? My dad was kind of buddies with the founder back in the day but they keep dying off in town here. (I'm in Nebraska, for reference.)
  • @ki1244 haha small town Minnesota! I swear it’s like the only one left😂
  • @ki1244 I always forget that people outside the Mid-Atlantic have no clue what wawa is. Personally I'm a RoFo gal. But Wawa's are fine.

  • Food stuff started today, like cravings/aversions. All day I've only wanted carbs, and anything that isn't bread-based (or a bread condiment, like jam or butter) sounds disgusting. And then this afternoon out of nowhere my stomach just started churning, but popped a ginger lozenge and it went away just as quick. I basically had no cravings or nausea the first time around, but this was like "I neeeeeeeeeeed a bagel NOW but the idea of cream cheese makes me gag" and that's a new feeling, and not one I exactly appreciate. Boo.
  • Vivid dreams!!! Last night I dreamed I gave birth out in the street to a baby girl who had all her teeth! Nursing is a big one for me because it didn’t work with my first and I EPed for 13 months. So in the dream it worked, despite the teeth, and my husband and I were arguing about what to name her. In my first pregnancy I had an early dream of a little boy, and I ended up with a boy. We’ll see this time around if the dream is right! I also had a very specific craving for chocolate cake with white buttercream frosting, cold from the fridge.
  • @ccmrc143 you made it 13 months EP?!?! Good Lord. We combo fed (only bc Alimentum was sooooo expensive and I didn't think she really needed it but ped said to stay with it, so I was dairy free as long as I pumped) but made it to 8 months and said this is for the birds. That road isn't easy! Can't imagine doing that for a year and then some. You've got some impressive willpower!
  • Morning sickness is showing up now, I had it TERRIBLE with my son and I thought maybe just maybe I was escaping it but I don’t think I am now! Not a fan! Today especially because I have to go solo to a lunch with SO’s parents because he is at a pd training for taser recertification and can’t go. Also only want beef sticks and ramen so I have no idea what I’ll order at the restaurant😅
  • @ccmrc143 wow! Pumping so long is super impressive.

I forgot who all to tag from the other day, but I’m in the PNW (oregon) and I don’t know what a wawa or a rofo is but we do have godfathers here lol

6 weeks would be about the time “morning sickness” would be developing? I lucked out with my son, but yesterday at work I felt sick. I work in a preschool and one of the parents dropped off a box of donuts along with their child. When they were all napping, I ate a whole donut very quickly. Then went to cleaning toys and started feeling sick. Luckily, it was time for my break, but their lunch was salmon and the smell usually doesn’t bother me, but yesterday was not ok. The whole kitchen/break room smelled like it.
We also have ONE staff/adult bathroom, and of course it was occupied. I had to rush past all of my coworkers and get outside and stay there until the bathroom was free again. Luckily, the fresh air helped and I didn’t actually get sick. I hope it was a one day thing and not the start of something new. We have one more week before winter break, I’d like to wait until we come back from break to tell anyone, except for maybe my classroom coteachers. I might tell them next Friday.
  • @ki1244 @tumbleweed-1 thank you!

Honestly it was never my goal to last that long but the second half of my pumping journey aligned with the beginning of the formula shortage so it felt like the right thing to do. We were almost never just giving him breastmilk, I never had enough supply so usually one or two bottles per day was formula. And I feel you on the dairy!!! DS had reflux so I was off dairy, onions, tomatoes…other stuff I can’t remember. It was so tough. Really hoping if I’m lucky enough to BF this one, it’ll be an easier journey without dietary restrictions lol.

Yes 6 weeks seems to be the morning sickness turning point!

Today the sense of smell got me. DS threw up in the car three weeks ago and for the first time today I smelled intense vomit even though of course we cleaned it up when it happened! Also exhaustion. Might take a nap during toddler nap today.
  • @justyouraveragemama hope your lunch goes well with your nausea.

In the future if anyone needs help eliminating dairy from their diet, I am your girl. LOL. I've had a life-threatening allergy to dairy my whole love and know how to work do a lot of different work arounds :)

  • @stashattack lunch went about as expected plus the added bit of being asked when we’re going to have a baby the whole time. It went as far as SO’s brothers girlfriend say she’s going to text SO saying “why didn’t you tell me you were expecting?” As a joke except like it’s not a joke really😅 had to do some damage control texting to make sure he knew I didn’t actually tell them without him there😂
  • @justyouraveragemama omg that's terrifying 😹😹😹 I'm glad you made it out relatively unscathed.

  • Hey everyone! So far I'm definitely more tired than usual, and I've noticed I get hangry, like I can't deal once I feel the hunger kick in lol. I also started having tailbone pain, which I thought was odd but my husband reminded me I had it when I was pregnant with my son. Anyone else have it? I think I was slightly nauseous today, although it could have just been my husband's driving 🤣
  • Ugh I don't ever remember my poor boobs hurting this bad. BF was less painful. I can't handle wearing a bra but not wearing one hurts. So far only nauseous when I saw the positive test and couldn't believe it. Last time before I even took the test I suddenly was allergic to coffee and so far I'm still able to drink it. It is wild how different each pregnancy can be.
  • This is my second time, but way more nauseated, books hurt, sore everywhere, and exhausted.
  • @colsen4 this time around my boobs hurt way more too! I didn’t have sore boobs at all my first pregnancy and this time they’re just constantly sore and swollen!
  • My boob are so sore and my nips are even worse. And today I've been in such a shitty mood. And I can't break the funk 🙃

  • This is my first pregnancy and I’m basically nauseous 24/7. I didn’t realize it would be an all the time thing!

For most that stops by the second trimester. Mine last time was 8 months of it. You will find what works to reduce it. Increase water, keep ginger everything on hand, and keep crackers on you.
  • UGH I had my first bout of food aversion last night. I made ramen from scratch and it's usually a favorite of mine. Like I LOVE our ramen. But as I was shredding the pork butt, it wasn't a bad smell, but more of like this is my least favorite meal being cooked kinda smell if that makes sense. But after I sat down and rested for a bit (I was mid work out too when I was shredding the meat and had been on my feet a bit) the food finally smelled better and I could eat it.

  • @stashattack I love ramen too. It’s so sad when you don’t want to eat your favorite foods, at least it was for me. I haven’t had any aversions so far, but with my first I didn’t like salsa (among other things) anymore. Usually I can eat chips and salsa every day. It wasn’t gross, I would just take a bite and be like nope, I don’t want to eat that. More of a disinterest.
  • @tumbleweed-1 yes exactly. Super sad. With my first I swear all protein was a no go for me. All of it sounded awful. And I'm a protein girly. Like I'm dairy free by force due to my allergy so I eat a lot of vegan cheese and other substitutes, but other than that I'm no vegan LOL. I was so sad those first few months.

  • The pregnancy brain is getting me. I’ve forgot to put on an apron at work a handful of times now these past few weeks, forgot to clock in from lunch yesterday and to clock out at the end of the day, and a couple weeks ago I forgot it was a carpool day and to pick up my coworker (I felt so terrible about that one and cried when I got to work then had to suck it up quick when someone else entered the room), and I totally forgot about December being a new month and paying some of our bills. Lots of other little things too. Just have to finish this week at work and then I’ll tell everyone when we come back in January
  • Ugh I gagged a lot this morning (i'm about 5w+6). didn't actually vomit, thankfully. I'm so hungry but nothing appeals to me. I didn't experience Any nausea with my first, so this is very new to me!
  • Today I woke up feeling hungover. So much burping and such a headache. I felt better after working out and eating, but now back to burping. Oh, also keep crying at super random stuff. I hate the first trimester because I don’t trust myself to not sound really weird on work calls — my emotions are haywire and I don’t want people to judge me haha
  • Been off and on nauseous the last two days, which I do not appreciate. Also I can nearly audibly hear my body yelling at me for vegetables but the only thing that sounds even remotely edible is toast or spaghetti, and anything not made with wheat just sounds gross. Cool. :/ At this rate no one will second guess my pregnancy because I will look like I'm six months in by next week.
