Re: Randoms w/o 10/31

  • I love reading through all these posts and somehow everyone seems so prepared, already planning maternity leave and coming home outfits! I'm definitely behind the 8 ball on everything at this point lol. I own a small business and have absolutely no idea how I'm supposed to swing a leave of more than like a couple of days at this point. And I feel like I just can't get excited about the baby clothes and stuff until I have my next ultrasound

  • @maggied26 I'm a sole proprietor, so I definitely understand the mental gymnastics of trying to figure out what maternity leave is going to look like. I definitely have not started looking at outfits or really much of anything yet, so if you're behind we'll be behind together 😅
  • Weighing in late here - in NJ we do get NJFL but it is only partially paid and capped around $800/week. I am fortunate to work for a company that will provide me with 18 weeks of fully paid maternity leave. My husband will only get 2 weeks paid paternity - he's at a new job, but its more than he ever got at his old company so we'll call it a win. I don't believe I'll be able to take my full leave at once though, as there is a lot going on with a merger at my job and my role is critical in the integration, so I will likely take maybe 2 months and then return on a part time schedule for a while... we'll see how my boss handles things, but I won't be telling them until after my anatomy scan, most likely actually after the holidays.

Other random question... I want to do something about sitting on my butt all day working, with pregnancy, exhaustion, and just being slammed at work my legs/bum are sooo out of shape. I have had my eye on this machine for a while and its now on a great sale... thoughts on if a squat machine like this will be safe throughout the pregnancy: https://thedbmethod.com/products/byok-booty30?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=paidsocial&utm_campaign=BRM+|+Retargeting+-+Shopify+Audiences&utm_content=2022+Shopify+Lists&utm_term=2022+Prime+-+Booty+Weekend+-+Video2

  • I worked every day this week (like I'm supposed to!), and now am exhausted! I'm very much looking forward to the nothing I have planned this weekend, except all the regular mom stuff, of course. I have a million things to do in baby-prep land, including moving #2 out of the nursery into a room we've yet to build, so maybe I'll get to some of that. But mostly we all need some down time after a month of sickness, holidays, and school demands.
  • I had a very light day at work today, and had intended to be productive around the house. Did I do anything? Nope! Adulting while pregnant is hard. 🤣
  • @trubaby411 same here. Fridays are an easy work day for me and I just came home and a napped. No energy or motivation to do anything.

On top of my general pregnancy exhaustion my son has a cough and pink eye. I’m no so patiently waiting for him to be healthy for longer than 2 weeks
  • @iiirene ugh I hope he feels better soon!
  • I finally made it to the prenatal yoga class that I've been trying to get to for a month now. DH always has some sort of project or errand he needs to do during the time I'd be at class 🙄 had to remind him 3x between last night and this morning that he is on toddler duty for the morning. So glad I was able to go and carve out this time for myself, it was much needed and my body appreciated the movement! Hoping I can make it weekly (at least until the instructor goes on maternity leave 🤪) bc it's been a struggle trying to fit workouts in at home
  • @nsk489 wow, good for you!  My first pregnancy I did kickboxing until the day I went into labor, but my 2nd pregnancy and this one... I'm lucky if I get a walk around the neighborhood!

@iiirene ugh I'm so sorry you're dealing with so much sickness, too.

My son is still recovering from HFM, and Thursday was diagnosed with RSV on top of it, and of course now i have it too!  His first birthday is Friday and party/baptism is Sunday, so we REALLY need to be better by then!!!!!!  If we get sick with something else, I swear I'm just going to quit!
  • @scaredunprepared geez! One thing after another! I hope you all are better soon!
  • @scaredunprepared ugh! HFM is awful! My son didn’t get any spots in his hands but a month or two after he had it some of his fingernails fell off. It was the strangest thing. I have a sneaking suspicion my son might have RSV. He’s got the cough, fever, lack of appetite. We’re visiting his grandparents in FL next weekend so I’m also hoping this week gives us a chance to get healthy too.

@iiirene oh no!!!  I hope it's just a bad cold or something.  Fingers crossed he's better asap!!!!  Isn't it weird???  My daughter only gets spots on her throat/under her tongue, but my son gets blisters EVERYWHERE.  Strange it affects people in such different ways.  I have heard of fingernails peeling, but that's usually with the hand blisters!

@trubaby411 thanks.  I hope so too.  This kid needs to be able to enjoy himself.
  • @acleverusername whoa keep it up!!!  I loved being fit during my first pregnancy, I feel like a lump this time, and did during my 2nd pregnancy too.
