Re: Baby Names!

  • @cc_clark I agree thanks so much  & congratulations

  • Hi there we recently found out what our munchkin is however I want to give a little background we're on our 4 the baby together and my 6th and both of our names are Nicole and Nicholas so we have chosen the unique name route for our little family our oldest daughter is Mattie-Sue Ramona and next is Starfire Leonor and following the girls is our son Jupiter Nicholas...all of their middle names so far are family related however seeing as my husband and I were both in the foster system we kinda ran out of family names so for our little man on the way we chose to honor our native American ancestry with Fūjin Wolf and our religion seeing as we're Buddhist Fūjin means wind spirit or wind god in Japanese and so we aggred it would honor both significantly and if we were to have been having a girl we would have named her Keylani Padme. Sorry for the long and late post
  • How have all of you finalized a name already?  How aligned were you with your partner to start with and how much compromising was required?  We are nowhere close from what I can tell.
  • @willrunforcookies my partner wasn’t really throwing out a lot of options at first, so it’s hard to say how aligned we were to begin with. I can’t describe it any other way than just knowing it was perfect the second he suggested it. We sat on it a few weeks but were struggling to think of anything we liked better. Maybe a lucky draw for us?
  • I’m not sure about any of these yet, but since we are looking into Arabic or Persian names, here’s my list so far (I want a name with meaning; most likely a girl):

    Aaliya = high, lofty
    Aisha = life
    Farah = happy
    Salma = safe, whole
    Halima = forebearing, kind
    Maryam = Mary, mother of Isa/Jesus
    Lina = soft, easy
    Shireen = sweet
    Aayah = sign, miracle
    Iman = faith
    Husna = beauty
    Jannah = paradise

  • @miracleshappen04 that's a great list. I love Aayah and Lina personally.

    @runningoncookies definitely don't have a finalized name here. I have my personal favorites for both sexes. If I was the only one involved in this, then I'd be done 😆
  • Lyla is not was a girl but found it it's a boy so no clue other than it will be a B name.
  • We’re having twins, a boy and a girl. Baby Boy is Micah Lee, Baby Girl is Elisabeth Lou (we call her Ellie though). We already have one son so we wanted them to sound good together and with his name (Levi) without being tongue twisty because they’re gonna be grouped together a lot 😂 and be short enough or have a nickname to that is easy to say. Family names for middle names. Also nothing too difficult to spell and nothing too common or too obscure either 😅 Naming babies is hard! We had the hardest time with a boy name because the boy name we originally wanted to use ended up getting used by a good friend of ours, so we went back to the drawing board.
  • We’ve had first name picked out since before we knew the gender but struggling with a middle name. Right now our top contender is for middle name is Emery. I like the way Celeste Emery sounds and the initials work well too. Not sure what’s holding us back though.
  • @r_kenn99 you’ll know if it suits baby once they are born!
  • We just found out we are having a GIRL and I’m so freaking chocked and exited. My top two names for a girl are

    Sophia Dawn (Soph)
    Emilia Dawn (Emi)

    to go with big brother Jack Thomas!

    Any thoughts? I think if baby is dark haired like me it’ll be a Soph and if she is fair like her dad and brother it’ll be an Emi!
  • @thankfullyamama those are both beautiful names! And they both go great with Jack. I slightly prefer Emilia, but I can't articulate why and it's not a strong preference (not that my opinion matters :D). Good luck choosing!
  • I feel like we're back to square one on names (which is doubly hard since we're Team Green). Both of our moms ended up either suggesting or guessing what I thought were our top contenders when we were visiting them a few weeks ago, which isn't a big deal, but in the process I found out that DH might not be so on board with our girl name. He's not totally against it, but I feel like we need to head back to the drawing board for girls. And we were already there for boys, since I'm not super in love with any boy names!

    DD is Naomi (nickname Nomi), which has been perfect for her. I love that it has a classic/timeless feel and is the right combination of being unique without being unrecognizable. Struggling to strike the same balance with a second name--it's so hard! But also trying to accept that maybe it's okay to have two names in a different style. I already listed some of our names up the thread last month, but here are updated thoughts:

    Girl: Marlowe (my favorite, I think it rings well with Naomi and has some of the same qualities, nn Marley), Juliette (nn Jules), Noelle, Sadie, or Sarah Jane (together; a family name). Middle name would probably be Caroline, Kathryn (my mn), Josephine, or Jane/June. I wouldn't be opposed to Josephine (maybe nn Josie?) as a first name either.

    Boy: Frederick (nn Freddie, also has family meaning and similar style to Naomi--but I'm still not sure about it), Nash (probably DH's favorite), Brooks, Harvey, Mack, Finley (has meaning from our hometown), Asher, Oliver (though we know lots of kids with the last two names, so I'm not sure we'll go with them). Middle name would be William.

    Anyways, sorry for the novel. Kind of just brain dumping here, but I'm all ears if anyone has thoughts or opinions!
  • @L1C4gal omg I love DDs name!  And Marlowe for a girl is sooo pretty!  And I really love Nash for a boy it’s perfect for a baby little boy and a man and goes so well with Nomi! Not that my opinion matters either haha
  • @L1C4gal all good contenders! I love Noelle and Finley, they all go well with Naomi too
  • I need help! We thought our family was complete with 3 boys and then we found out we are pregnant again but this time with a girl! I need help with a name!
    Knox Michael . Kye Joseph . Kolt William
    We are okay with not using a “K” but just want the names to still sound good together. Her middle name will be Marie. Ideas?!?
