Discovered something at today's 16 week ultrasound that may help some of you.
I learned I have not just one small fibroid, but two (chances of having fibroids increase with age; I'm in my 40s; both smaller than 4cm). One of the fibroids partially blocks my cervix, so it may be the reason why I had an emergency c-section with my first (came in to the hospital at 8cm, so it was always a mystery).
My OB suggested I have a planned c-section this time. Anyone else experienced something like this (fibroid restricting the cervix)?
I always wanted to experience natural birth, but the chances are looking slim now. But as long as the baby is healthy, I'm still ecstatic.
@miracleshappen04 I had emergency c-section with my 1st, then again with my 2nd (breach), so I had.to be scheduled for my 3rd, 4th, and this baby (5th). You'll stay in hospital longer, and it's a bit longer of a recovery, but you'll pick baby's birthday and it helps with scheduling. Talk to the hospital/ob about what to expect, when can you hold baby and nurse, etc. I've found different states have different rules. I've got to experience l&d through family and friends. Having a positive perspective is helpful!
On another note, tomorrow is ultrasound day for me! 14w1d and I'm so excited to see baby!!
14w1d - Our little frog LOL Baby was face down and bouncing a lot. Legs were crossed for most the us. Little dots for toes. Spine looks good. Couldn't see face well. Doc is 75% of gender. We're having a pay-for US sneak peak next Monday and gender reveal party Aug 7th. So exciting!!
Hi congrats on your healthy wiggly baby :) If you’re willing to share, i was wanting to know more about your experiences with a posterior pelvis as my first child is due late January and I’ve yet to ask the doctor more about it, thanks!!
🥰 I had a missed miscarriage in April and on my first ultrasound in June I cried the moment I saw that heartbeat 💓 it’s like all the worry juts leaks out of you. Congratulations mama!!
I was also told I had a retroverted uterus when trying for my first. After that pregnancy, all my OBs have said it’s now no longer posterior (not sure why that is). Usually has no affect on pregnancy so don’t worry too much. 😉
14w6d Today's ultrasound was so awesome! The 3d/4d was creepy tho. Heartbeat 147 bpm. Baby stretched its legs which was so cool! Really looking forward to actually feeling it! Gender was determined but we won't know until Sunday at gender reveal party. AND my kids (11 & 8) got to go today which was the best part!
We had our anatomy scan today and oh, how wonderful it was to see our baby girl again! She’s measuring right on track, weighs about 10oz, and anatomy is looking great! We got see her yawn and came home with videos and pictures of her. Such a treat!
Anatomy scan this morning! Baby boy looked good. I know he can flip on a dime, but he was currently head down and OA. Great for birth, not great for trying to get images of his face!
Baby Lady is measuring right on track at 19w and weighs 10oz. I think she looks like DH, but he’s bald and it may just be the fact that their foreheads look similar in that regard. 😂 Relieved that she’s grown appropriately, because I’m still not showing much to speak of and I was concerned she might be behind. Instead, we learned that she’s super wiggly and prefers my right side.
Baby boy was NOT feeling cooperative for his big day! Right off the bat the first thing the technician could see was him peeing at her, and then we spent an hour coaxing him to roll over 😂. Honestly the best profile of his head she could get. But such a relief to hear he’s measuring right where he’s supposed to, especially since I’m still not gaining weight (I’m guessing because I’m overweight to start?) Love moments like these where I can see husband more engaged, too. Not that he doesn’t always care, but we know it’s harder for them to feel connected on the outside sometimes.
Awww @cc_clark so happy you got to see your little nugget! I totally get what you mean about husbands, too. They’re visual beasts, and it’s always nice to have something “concrete” they can connect with after all these weeks.
