Not quite maternity clothes. Facebook gave me this ad for “period underwear”. Looks kinda funny just for a period but I’d definitely like this for after childbirth. You don’t need them for your hospital bag because they’ll give you pads while you’re there but if you’re planning a vaginal birth this looks worth ordering for when you’re home from the hospital getrael.com
@autumn87654321 I know a lot of moms here actually will pack depends in their hospital bag. The "pads" they give you here are basically the puppy pads that you fold in 3 and stick in your mesh panties, so it's preferable to that lol

@mflowers929 I was just thinking about that. These look much more comfortable than the mesh underwear and giant pads. The mesh underwear gave me rash anyway
@PurplePumpernickel it’s a lot at first. They’ll give you these Giant pads and ice packs. At home I needed regular overnight pads with wings for a few days ( change often , natural cotton is best the weird plastic cover sounded painful) then I used panty liners for a couple more weeks. For me I think the thinx type period underwear would be good for maybe a week after, but I’d still get something more disposable/change often for hygiene of tears(Tares ?) at the beginning.
This week I got an order of clothes from Seraphine. I loved how they looked and felt, but none of them fit and I had to return them all! 😥
I am not discussing the sizing to make anyone feel bad (or anything else) about their body, but just to hopefully help anyone that places an order with them order the correct size. If discussions about size and measurement are triggering just stop reading here. I say all this as someone who struggled with body dysmorphia big time and have the utmost compassion for anyone who has experienced or is experiencing this.
For reference I am usually a size 4 in most things. I wear an a or b cup usually. The small size shirts were WAY too big. The size 4 dresses were very loose and too long (they were supposed to hit above the knee on me). The shorts were size 4 but did not fit at all around my hips.
I’m 5’11” and I googled best maternity jeans for tall people and weirdly the top ranked were Abercombie and Fitch which is just hilarious. I had no idea they made maternity. I struggle to find non-maternity jeans that are long enough so this has been a real concern since learning about baby so I gave them a try. Ladies, they are SO GOOD! No rips so I can wear them on casual days at work. They do have a subtle raw hem, but they are high quality and very comfortable! I’m so surprised! They are on the pricier side, but to me that’s worth it for comfortable maternity jeans that accommodate my height. I seriously struck out with Old Navy maternity pants.
Social media advertising always gets to me. I finally gave in and got these baby wearing overalls. They’re good for maternity too(unbuttoned with a gusset inside). I tried them out with my chunky little 17month old today. Worked pretty well. He’s about 26 lbs so a little in the heavy side, I wouldn’t take him in long walks in the mumsie but it’s great for getting him to and from the car. I think they’ll be good through my pregnancy and for the new babe.
I also got Abercrombie (dark wash, probably the same thing you got) & the J. Crew Factory maternity jeans, and love them both! I’ve heard Abercrombie has come a long way with their jeans and are making a comeback in general (which was also hilarious to me since I haven’t shopped there since 8th grade 😂)
hi! What are folks doing about sports bras? I either need to buy cheap (but supportive) regular ones in a larger size or go for a maternity sports bra… assuming I’m able to breast feed, is a maternity sports bra really necessary after having a baby? Is it useless to think about using any bra I buy now longer term because they’re just going to get bigger and then much smaller? Appreciate your thoughts here!
@rebeccahoo12345 it depends on your size. The shefit bra looks like a great idea for breastfeeding and the size is kinda flexible the way you adjust the straps. I can’t use them because my rib cage is too small for my cup size so the 2 lux size was too small in the cups and too big in the rib cage but I have a pretty unusual proportion.
I like buying bras from bare necessities.con because they have really supportive sports bras specific for cup size
I also used to use moving comfort brand “Juno” sports bra. The one I had was technically a smaller cup size than I was but it worked well for me because it was nice and tight so it might be a good option for changing bust. The shoulder straps Velcro so it could be easy for breastfeeding

Both are sooo soft, breathable (all natural fabrics), comfy, stretchy, supportive (I could go on and on) and actually look gorgeous enough that I know I'd wear them when I am no longer pregnant or nursing. I think they are an Aussie brand that just started shipping to US?? but anyways, just thought I should recommend them because I have tried so many other nursing camis and bras when I was breastfeeding my first and none of them came close to Embrace.
