We’re getting close, so some of us may have already had our May due date babies. Post here if you’ve had your baby/babies! I can’t wait to hear everyone’s birth stories, if you want to share.
I had Kalvin Elrik at 3:31pm on the 27th. EDD was May 8th. My water broke a little before 3am and was put on pitocin around noon. I went from a 3 to a 10 in about 45 minutes and then pushed for 2 contractions (about 2 minutes according to the nurse). My nurse and the OB both almost missed it and I had to actively try not to push for 2 contractions. My last pregnancy I used NO2 and they set it up as I was trying not to push for those one and didn't end up using it at all. I ended up with one small tear and 2 stitches. I'm already feeling better than 6 weeks postpartum with my daughter, but I tore more and didn't heal correctly with her.
I ended up getting induced last night (37+1) for on and off BP issues. Started pitocin at 8 pm and had DD at 4:30 am. It was a super fast last 30 min of labor which was crazy! Everyone is doing well, just sleepy.
Wowwww @b_1029! Congratulations. I’m so glad everyone is doing well. I imagine the past 24 hours have been a whirlwind for you but I hope you continue to feel well and enjoy time with your new baby!!
Last prenatal appt tomorrow and then elective induction Thursday. I will be 39 weeks and 2 days at the time of induction. So ready to get this little girl out!
Riley is here!!! We came in this morning at 6am for pre-op and went in for surgery at 8am sharp. Riley arrived at 9:03 weighing in at 8lbs 11oz measuring 19 inches long. He’s a little chunk! No great birth story, it was all very fast, but I’m so deeply in love with this child. I am recovering well, no pain yet. He’s the most beautiful thing in the world. I’m so beyond happy.
Well we had quite the traumatic birth. I laboured at home for hours after I thought my water broke at 1 am. Contractions were tolerable but I was worried about going too long after water breaking so we made our way to labor and delivery to find out I was actually at an 8 already! 0 station fully effaced. I couldn’t believe it. I opted for an epidural because I was super tired from being up since midnight and it was 10 am. A few minutes after the epidural my water broke (which was crazy because I lost a large puddle of liquid at 1 am). Within seconds babies heart rate dropped to 60 beats per second then just stopped. Thank god the nurse was there because it was a cord prolapse and babies oxygen was cut from the prolapse and also the cord was wrapped around his neck three times. She was able to hold him up on the bed with me to take the pressure of the cord while I was rushed for an emergency c section. I went from thinking this was going to be the easiest vaginal delivery to thinking my son just died. He let out a huge cry when he was taken out and I had never been so relieved in my life. Thankfully he is perfectly fine. I just can’t help but think had my water broken at home there’s no way we would have known what to do.
@jc0820 Oh my gosh that had to be terrifying. I’m so sorry you had to go through that, but so happy you and Finn are doing well!!! He’s quite lovely. I see he’s got some hair under that hat! Riley does too! Congrats, mama!
I was debating posting Riley’s picture because internet but I can’t resist sharing this kid with you guys! Here’s my favorite pic from our hospital stay.
@taylorharris0522 So cute!! I haven’t been able to find the energy to take a cute one yet but have a matching swaddle and hat I plan on taking a photo of him in before we leave the hospital!
I was scheduled for a cesarean on May 16th, but my Dr decided at my appointment on May 12th he should come that afternoon, due to my elevated BP. So on May 12th, we welcomed Arthur Louis; 7 lbs 11 oz and 20 in. Unlike my first birth, I was able to do skin to skin the in the OR and they got him right on the breast, which was an amazing feeling. Breastfeeding has been going well, we have had one off day where he wouldn’t latch, but he continues to gain weight and we are almost back to birth weight. I’m hoping by his next check up we will be there.
@b_1029 Yes, we did! I was concerned it would feel invasive but it was 100% worth every second. She got there right after I had fed him, too, so he was very cooperative. We got some great “hospital-y” shots as well as some with him in his swaddle and hat.
@taylorharris0522 I debated because that wasn’t available after my first baby due to Covid, but the photographer came in while I was in the bathroom and I was too lazy to follow up to figure out pricing lol. They turned out great! I love his little cheeks!
After 2 weeks of prodromal labor and going back and forth to the hospital thinking this is it. The 3rd time was the charm. My final baby and only boy entered the world on May 25th. 4 days after his due date. After several tries of pitocin we ended up having to do a slow release of my waters to try and push bubs into my pelvis. I had so much fluid he just couldn't descend and engage. Once that happened things were very intense. Almost ended up with an epidural but told the nurse that I needed to push instead. This was the most hectic and slightly traumatic birth of my 4. But he's here and everyone is healthy and I'm grateful! Biggest baby of the 4. 9lbs 2oz 22in long
Re: Welcoming Our May Babies!!!
