Symptoms, April Edition

Re: Symptoms, April Edition

  • My last pregnancy, I sweated through the sheets every. single. night. starting at about 5.5 weeks, and once baby was here, I didn't sweat again at night. It was a miserable nine months. I was always waking up to change or pee. And I'm someone who is usually cold, especially at night. This time around, I sweat at night maybe twice a week so I'm expecting post-partum to be worse, but I'll take this over that any day! You never know what to be thankful for until you experience the opposite.

  • @mamamoomoo12 Also stretchy and achy and this is baby #2 for me. Pregnancy is so much fun isn’t it 🤣 @pangolindrome also going crazy from allergies, blowing my nose so much I lost my nose ring in the middle of the night in bed last night… ugh…
  • @mamamoomoo12 yes, so stretchy and achy. I tried to explain to my husband that I just feel like every joint I have is trying to come apart and my abs feel like I did too many sit-ups....except I have done none lol
  • @dvmmomma yes! Exactly! I am glad I am not the only one, everything is so stretched!
  • @mamamoomoo12 yes, same here! I feel like this must be a growth week for babe, I feel like literally overnight I did a whole weeks growth in my bump lol.
  • @mamamoomoo12 same same! It’s starting to become uncomfortable. I can only imagine how it’ll feel in 20 more weeks lol

Y’ALL! Are the hormones f*ing with your language centers/vocabularies?

Last night, hubbs was investigating why the button for the vacuum cleaner doesn’t turn it on anymore and he left the cord a little undone. When he put it in its dedicated spot, the following exchange took place:

Me: Hubby! Do not leave the cord undone! You wipe it up… *pauses*
Me: You WIPE it *frustrated pause, trying to force the correct word*
    Husband: *beginning to crack up*
    Me: Wipe? WIPE! Help?
    Husband: *laughing*
Me: *swearing profusely*… You WIPE IT. *more swearing* WHAT IS THE WORD?!
    Husband: Wrap?
Me: YES! You W- (strong reflex to say “wipe”) -RAP IT UP. *more swearing*
    Me: Thank you.
  • @pangolindrome Yes!! I am having the hardest time saying words correctly!
  • @pangolindrome I keep doing that stupid thing where I swap syllables...I tried to say "that's going to blow up in someone's face" and said "that's going to blup oh in someone's face." The husband laughed and laughed and laughed.

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

  • I’m not alone ❤️
  • OK so baby is at the front, and I have been fortunate enough to feel him move for weeks now! (I'm 21+4). And last night - HOLLLYYY he was doing soccer tryouts in my uterus from 10pm til 3am. And it was big movements!!! There was no sleeping for me. I can't even imagine how much stronger he will get in the next 18 weeks too!
  • 18w tomorrow and my nipples keep tingling at complete random as of a few days and as of today, are too sensitive for even showering.
Could this mean my ladies are growing again or are they just being, pardon me, b**ches?

@pangolindrome I'm 18w1d and I swear they're visibly bigger every time I wake up...they hurt whenever I get up in the middle of the night to pee! I finally bought some maternity sleep bras, because it just isn't comfortable to be bra-less right now. The husband agrees that they are definitely bigger...he's quite happy about it.  :D

  • @lilienne my husband is Very Appreciative of the ladies to the point where I apologized to him because they just… don’t like when even I have to interact with them 😅
    I don’t need a bra but I’ve been sleeping in 32 Degrees Cool t-shirts.
  • @pangolindrome I'm curious what a 32 degrees cool t shirt is?
  • The ladies are large and in charge. DH gets a big goofy grin every time they make an appearance.
I feel fine when I go to sleep but I wake up 4 or 5 times each night sweating so badly! I always used to sleep hard all through the night, but this is no longer the case.
I'm a burping machine. I rarely every burped before DS2, and it was never like this with DS1.
I get the stretching pains when I stand or straighten too quickly. I've had couple "vaginal" cramps here and there - not sure if there's a technical term for them but they tend to follow up any really active days and just feel like regular mentsrual cramps.
I've noticed a bit of a waddle - sometimes; I'm not ready for full time waddle.
My back has started to be more sensitive to carrying laundry baskets up the stairs, and bending at the sink to do dishes. Dishwasher is in the house, just not installed yet - I'm SO excited!
  • @leannechristina ditto to the burps, I HATE it. I also rarely burped and now I'm constantly uncomfortable and burping it's wretched.
  • Is anyone else dealing with a racing heart, especially while lying down? I don't remember it being this bad with my last pregnancy (though I did have it), and I know it can be normal, but all the solutions don't seem to help (such as being well hydrated, which I usually am). I'm so over it because it's messing with my sleep significantly. The positive is that I can elevate the head of our bed with a remote, but even that only does so much. Blah.

I do have a major sweet tooth - both pregnant and not pregnant - but cutting back on sugar doesn't do much either.

  • @trapperkeeper87 ditto with the racing heart! It’s really annoying.
  • @pangolindrome I'm curious what a 32 degrees cool t shirt is?
I get them at Costco. The black ones are a little silkier than the colored ones, which makes black my favorites, and they are great. I’ll probably buy some sized-up once I outgrow the ones I have.

  • @trapperkeeper87 same here. Seems very unprompted and usually paired with heavier breathing. I’m also having a difficult time with going from sitting to standing without feeling incredibly dizzy. Perhaps all connected to increased blood flow and low blood pressure?
  • I am having vertigo. Not like super bad, but enough that it’s noticeable. My school has a spirit week and has short assemblies every day, and as teachers we sit at the top of the bleachers to supervise students, but between how loud the music is and the vertigo I keep getting… I excused myself today and probably won’t attend tomorrow or Thursday (four-day school week, no Fridays).
It’s terrible. I never used to have vertigo.
  • Baby’s movements and kicks are getting so strong that he’s keeping me up at night. Last night was 5 hours straight of his in-utero soccer game. I’m only 21+6… Goodness knows how it’ll feel as he gets stronger !!!
  • @pangolindrome I've been extremely dizzy at times too. It's very normal, but that doesn't make it less scary. Stay well hydrated and take your time switching from standing to sitting and vice versa. Mine has weirdly come on just standing there, but it's not worrisome unless it leads to something more than just dizziness.

  • Been getting super dizzy lately, especially when I don't take a few seconds to sit up before getting out of bed. The past couple of days have been rough. I've never suffered migraines before but had all the extras that come with them - nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sounds. Tylenol around the clock didn't put a dent in the left-side head throbbing. I put a call in to my doc's office and without having me come in (she said it was pretty textbook symptoms) she suggested 1000 mg magnesium throughout the day. I took 500 mg at lunch, napped for 3 hours and then took the remaining 500 mg at dinner. I was already feeling SO MUCH BETTER by dinner time and I was able to get up and go to work today! Hoping this isn't a regular occurrence and I have a much higher regard for those who do suffer migraines regularly!!
  • My nausea has been gone for about 6 weeks now. Yesterday I didn't eat lunch and felt like I was going to puke by mid afternoon. It was awful. I just grabbed second breakfast before I head into my anatomy scan, because I don't want to feel like that again and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of sitting around and waiting so I won't be done here until after lunch.
  • I can join the weird heart rate club. It happens for me at night when I lay down on my side. When I sit up, everything calms down. It’s partially a fast heart rate and partially feels like (not sure how to describe it)… my heart is working extra hard. Freaks me out everytime but I had chalked it up to a weird pregnancy thing. That must be it if other people have the same issue ! I have Hashimotos and I’m due to get my thyroid levels checked this week so I’ll be interested to see if those results are normal, I think that can contribute to racing heart and such.

@melyrae same here with the kicks! It’s so much weirder feeling that I expected it would be and yesterday like all day during meetings she was punching or elbowing my bladder. 4 solid more months of this getting stronger every day?? Wow! Crazy to go from not really feeling anything a week ago to getting weird pokes all throughout the day.
  • @trapperkeeper87 It’s not anything that concerns me, it’s mostly annoying. I hydrate a lot anyways so I bet that helps, and I imagine my exhaustion and insufficient sleep has exacerbated it. Thankfully, it’s not frequent or even consistent apart from during assembly with loud music and walking up/down bleachers.
  • For anyone else dealing with sciatica or pinched butt muscles haha - here is another pose that is easy to get into (just did it with a bar stool and held it for about 1 minute and my butt felt much better after)

  • Anyone else spilling on themselves like an absolute fool? I’ve taken to wearing a rainproof jacket while having subway or fast food. I wish I was joking.
  • @pangolindrome absolutely. My husband is like “can you even feel the food on your face” “can you even see all that on your shirt” hahahahaha
  • I have to stand up so slow or my round ligaments seize up. They also do it when I’m getting down out of my pick up truck. Feel like a sloth.

    Yup. Constantly.

  • Tried standing today from a low chair without using the arms of the chair to help me, and promptly fell back down into the chair. Just a little embarrassing 🙈 -ExcitedlyExpecting
  • @millygolitely hahah I love that and would do the same! It’s easier to just take it off than try to get the stains out of a light top
  • @pangolindrome yes!!! I have no idea why but it’s definitely worse in the last 2-3 weeks.

@millygolitely Brilliance! You are brilliant! Ribs sound so good too! You are also correct that the spell for warding off spilled food is definitely to remove any and every item you don’t want to get food on 😂
  • The only time I even need to wear an apron is while pregnant. I can understand when my belly is big but it's like as soon as I have that positive pregnancy test I'm spilling food on myself. It's especially messy while cooking🤷‍♀️
