@rita_elaine Try hard to have patience with the plethora of people who will tell you, "I though that goes away in 2nd tri..." All I can say is, it's worth it. Try to find habits that help you through it. I'm still struggling with the nausea with this baby at 17 weeks. I had it all the way into 3rd tri in my first pregnancy as well. Sometimes it's changing the timing, the amount, or the variety of foods that you're eating. While I think I've made some changes that help me to reduce the sick urges, it gives me a sense of control (ha!), but I never found anything to actually make it go away. I have found that I have less time to dwell on it when I'm preoccupied and getting fresh air. To echo @babywiik, do what you can to stay hydrated. Hang in there!
Today at 4 PM I thought to myself “I feel pretty good! Maybe this is the honeymoon period of second trimester!!” Fast forward to 9PM. I am incapacitated on the couch because of round ligament pain, leg cramps, and a headache. Every muscle in my belly feels like it’s being stretched out (and why does my bellybutton feel weird?!).
Good days and bad days. Sometimes all in the same day lol.
@melyrae I had to laugh at the belly button feeling weird. Mine popped out around 20 weeks last time and has never gone back to being small. This time, it's been out for awhile already and when I cough it gets really pronounced😂 also my lower belly has been feeling cramps...thinking it's just the muscles and uterus stretching. The things no one prepares you for about pregnancy.
@melyrae I got my first foot cramp lady night. I didn't get the leg/foot cramps with my second so it was shocking lady night. It hurt like a bitch and completely woke me up.
@babywiik it’s ok to have humour in all of this craziness that’s happening in our bodies lol. I had a bellybutton piercing (now taken out) so I wasn’t sure if that was making it worse? But apparently this is just a normal feeling no one tells you about!
@jhysmath YES! I got mine yesterday morning in my calf! It was so strong and sudden I couldn’t move my leg and my hubby had to move it and massage it. Then the leg soreness kept me up all night.
My belly button isn't protruding yet, but it's almost flush with my belly now, so it's probably headed that way.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@costaricamom I found with both my first and this one that my skin gets super itchy in the boob and belly area despite being plenty moisturized. My guess is because the skin is stretching from the growing?
Pain in my lower right belly area right after emptying a full bladder. Mostly happens in the morning when it's been many hours. It must be related to the bladder emptying and organs shifting around? No idea but I remember the same with my first pregnancy and I don't look forward to months more of this.
The upside to second trimester is, the miserable symptoms aren't with me 24/7...the downside is, now they're unpredictable! I felt pretty darned good for 2 days, eating normal food and walking the dogs and being fairly active, and then the next day (yesterday) I was totally useless. I felt awful, couldn't go anywhere or do anything. I managed to drink and eat enough to not get shaky or dehydrated, but that was seriously the best I could do. Thankfully today is going better.
First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22
Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
Does anyone else have sore toes? Both my big toes are sore by the base of the nail bed for more than a week at least. I thought I just bruised one at first but now it’s both and feels like they are a tiny bit swollen, and sore if I put any pressure around the nail base. Maybe not related to pregnancy but I was figuring it might be like all the other weird things!
@millygolitely I remember with my first pregnancy I learned you can develop arthritis so maybe it’s something similar? I had it in my fingers and toes, and it disappeared after having the baby.
My hips and back are all out of wack... The general pulling and expanding and tightness is so uncomfortable. If I wasn't pregnant I would think something is seriously wrong lol. I keep reminding myself that there is a purpose to all of it.
@mamamoomoo12 Have you considered a chiropractor? The sooner you begin with them, the more comfortable you'll be overall. You tend to compensate for the changes in your body by moving differently, and that's hard on your body.
@mamamoomoo12 echoing the chiropractor. I've been twice in the last 3 weeks and it's just dawning on my why my back isn't hurting much like it was starting to before I went😅
Started to feel what I think are kicks last week! Feels kind of like a big fish is swimming around in there Love feeling this baby boy 💙🧿 -ExcitedlyExpecting
I struggled hard with hip pain in my last pregnancy. It would send me down to the ground and killed to lift my leg up to get in my car or put pants on. After baby was born it didn't go away. My son was 2 before I finally went to chiro and it got way better. With this pregnancy I am still going to chiro to get hip adjustments to prevent that horrific pain. I find it really helps. The belly belt was a waste of money as I couldn't stand the pressure and still had limited movement.
Omg, a total stranger who saw me from a distance with my stomach covered said congratulations and when I looked confused (bc I don’t know them and it was random) they said I thought you were pregnant because of how you’re walking. Have I started to waddle?! 😩😂 surely, it’s too soon. I don’t think my vanity can handle that yet!!
@laj0217 maybe it’s not so much waddle but just posture change? Idk, I feel like I’m walking more with my shoulders back now than I used to because of my growing bump and some very aware stranger might pick that up??
I'm definitely waddling. I went to collect someone who had never met me from the front entrance of work yesterday for a visit and they said later that they assumed it was me because of the way I walked (she knew I was pregnant).

@mk2022x and @kboydbowman the posture answer makes me feel better so that’s what I’m going with 😂😂 my husband did say he’d pay more attention and let me know though.
I am EXHAUSTED this week (week 17). Not like first tri but worse than I have been.
Did kiddo hit a growth spurt and is zapping my energy? I’m dying over here.
I had to nap for an hour after work yesterday to manage my half-hour walk with doggo.
I went from 188lb to 187.3 since I last weighed myself at home a couple weeks ago. I’m still up 12 from before pregnancy and based on my BMI, I should have gained about 10.5 at this point. Of course, I have been steady since sometime February. I ate all the things.
@pangolindrome I started feeling way more tired when I hit 17 weeks, too! Same as you, not as bad as 1st tri, but enough that it was noticeable. And I thought the same thing - baby must be having a growth spurt!
I live in central California. Everyone is a sweaty mess from mid April onward lol

@kboydbowman Fair enough. I'm in MN where it's not yet 50 degrees out (on a good day) and I'm a hot sweaty mess before I even walk out the door in the morning. It's looking to be a LONG summer!!
@mnmomma84 I’m struggling mostly at night with hot flashes. It cools down a lot when the sun goes down, so I don’t think I can blame the heat (yet). But yes, summer is gonna be rough! High 90s with insane humidity down here.
The sweatiness and hot flashes are nothing compared to what your body goes through postpartum as your hormones regulate 😅 that was the biggest shock to me that nobody warned me about! I had to change my pajamas in the night because I’d wake up drenched… and I’m the person that’s typically always cold and is ok wearing pants in the summer.
@newbabymama27 YES! Postpartum sweats are unreal! My husband likes to joke that I dress for polar expeditions when getting ready for bed and postpartum I'd wear pretty much nothing and be drenched!
I’m still sleeping in pajamas. I slept naked before pregnancy and I miss it, but if I get cold now it is impossible to warm back up without hubbs hugging me, and I don’t want to disturb him. That sounds silly now that I wrote it out. He loves snuggling on me.
I’m also playing a “chronic sinus issues, allergies, or pregnancy congestion” game right now.
I feel like I am expanding like crazy, my abs and everything are just achy. I woke up today and felt like my bump was more bumpy. Anyone else dealing with the stretching out and achy feelings? I keep over thinking
