Re: Symptoms, April Edition

  • Heartburn all day every day. Tums is my friend. That’s all. 😩
  • Loading the player...
  • @dsmith211 my word! I have never had heartburn until the last few nights - tums now sits on my nightstand its the worst
  • @mamamoomoo12 I only ever have it in pregnancy and it’s seriously no joke. I literally live for spicy/tangy foods and it seriously just isn’t happening otherwise I’m miserable.

Thankfully it seems to go away pretty quickly for me once baby is here so keeping my fingers crossed again this time.
  • I'm so thankful for my pantoprazole (I have GERD and we feel the benefit for me outweighs the risk). It keeps the heartburn at a minimum until about the last month of pregnancy. Last pregnancy, my body was screaming at me constantly before I went the prescription route. I'm sorry you ladies have to deal with that.

  • I have crazy bloating after eating. Feels like a big balloon was blown up in my upper abdomen. Is this normal?
  • I thought my hip/sciatica pain was better and I forgot to find my leg pillow before bed.... It's not better, that pillow is just great.

Also my pregnancy carpal tunnel is definitely back. Thankfully it's only when I sleep so I'll be asking about braces Monday at my appointment because I want to try and prevent as much as I can from my hands going completely numb later in pregnancy. Opening things and changing a newborn diaper without feeling in your hands is terrible.
  • @knottie gas/bloat is normal. Gasx was a big help.

Gas-X and Famotadine will be your friends here. Your intestines aren’t processing at normal speed so gas has more opportunity to get stuck/increased uncomfortably during processing.
  • My belly is getting bigger and there is a small bit of making it more difficult to breathe when I bend over. Digestive issues here too.

Breathing when bending is hard! And I slept on my right side a few nights ago and now my right shoulder is really angry with me, sigh. I have also sadly joined the constipation club...not sure if this is helpful for anyone else, but I dragged a footstool into the bathroom so I'm sitting at a slightly different angle. Something about changing my posture and back position has been proving quite helpful, so that might be worth a shot for anyone who is still having issues despite medication?
    First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

The whole Squatty Potty thing really does help. You can get them for like $20 off Amazon.  I have one for each of my bathrooms.

  • @kboydbowman I’m so spoiled by the squatty potty, when I have to poop at work without one I’m so sad
  • Ugh.  Latest urine culture came back - same UTI, even after the IV antibiotics.  I really wish they'd just give up, but I'm sure they'll want to put me on YET ANOTHER antibiotic, which will mean more FUCKING YEAST INFECTIONS.

  • Squatty potties and and bidets have changed the bathroom game for me!
  • I have a bathroom stool, and hate having to poop at work with out it. I also recently got a bidet and hate having to poop away from home now too. Sadly I've realized though, when you have to poop you go then because if you hold it, you make life so much worse for yourself.
  • @jhysmath YES the bidet too. Pooping away from home is a tragedy
  • The boy person will practically s*** himself before he will use a toilet anywhere other than at the house. I think he's insane.

  • I need to get a bidet. Do you guys have the ones that are a hose attached to the toilet or the ones that are separate? I can see myself using the attached ones but I don't get the separate ones😅
  • @babywiik we have the Tushy, which is attached. It’s a good bidet. I will say, we don’t have the option to attach it to hot water… because the toilet is separate from the rest of the bathroom. If you are able to connect to hot water (from the sink), I would find one that has that capability.
  • Hey y’all. I’m 14 weeks, but still having pretty bad morning sickness. Is anyone else still having morning sickness in the second trimester? I have tried everything, including prescription medication and nothing has helped.
  • @babywiik I agree with @runsonanxiety of you can get one that's connected to the warm water do it. The cold especially in winter is not fun. I bought a cheap one off Amazon to see if I would like the idea, my friend has an amazing that even  dries your bum and has presets for each person. I found the pressure on mine way too much and find I need to adjust that or else... Yeah. I don't think I'll be able to use it for feminine cleaning after child birth unless I have a c-section. Next time I get one will be in our house and it will have warm water and dry my butt 😂
  • @rita_elaine trimesters and symptoms aren't instaneous - may still take awhile for your morning sickness to go away.

  • @rita_elaine yeah...unfortunately hitting 2bd trimester isn't magic. For some women itnis, but not me. I still throw up/gag every morning before i can eat anything at 17 weeks. After that I'm fine as long as I eat. With my first pregnancy, I took zofran until 25 weeks just so I could keep food down so I feel a lot better this time. Pay attention if what you're eating makes you feel sick. Sugar was instant nausea for me until the last week and I needed protein at every meal. Eating just fruit didn't cut it and that's the only thing that sounded good😑 hang in there. Hopefully it'll get better. Are you at least able to stay hydrated?
  • @rita_elaine My friend had morning sickness basically through second trimester. She just had her third kiddo and it was not a good time.
  • Ugh. My uterus is feeling so heavy and I can feel my hips/pelvis relaxing. I had this exact same feeling last time and very little helped then; even rolling over in bed is becoming painful. I'm going to try buying a hip support belt (I have maternity belts from last time, but they didn't help much with this feeling). 17w6d today, I think. Why is my body so goofy?

  • I hear you on the heavy thing.  I've been trying to decide if I should get a bump support thingy (is that what you mean by maternity belt?).

Yeah, that's what I mean. I was never formally diagnosed last time (I kind of downplayed it), but I just know I had SPD very early on. Getting out of the car was painful, and trying to lift my leg to get my pants on would take well over a minute of excruciating pain to just lift my leg.

  • @trapperkeeper87 This morning when I was getting into the shower and picked up my underwear from the floor with my toes to throw in the hamper I thought about the fact my first pregnancy I had to sit down to put on underwear because lifting my leg to put them on hurt so bad. I remember that pretty early on in my first pregnancy too, I think it was later on in my second that I had that pain, but my hips were all messed up I just figured it was sciatica or giant baby. Someone in my last bmb had SPD so bad they needed a walker to walk around at all. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that and I'm hoping my hip pain doesn't get as bad.

FYI I'm pretty sure if you go through Aeroflow there were maternity belts that go through your insurance so you don't have to "pay" for them. I know there's likely a deductible charge or something, but they are medical supplies.

@jhysmath What?! Okay, I'm totally going to check and see about that! I never even thought about that! Thanks for the heads up.

Update: No dice. My insurance doesn't cover any compression items. But seriously, this is great information for anyone else looking!

  • Moving around - especially rolling over/getting up in bed - is getting harder. Because of the location of Baby B’s placenta, I wasn’t feeling any movement from them, but now I think I feel them kicking around a bit. Certain smells still trigger my nausea, and after 12:30pm I have zero energy. Also, I think I might have experienced phantom letdown the other day. It was very weird!
  • @trapperkeeper87 @kboydbowman @jhysmath

In terms of this "bump support thingy maternity belt", is that the same as a "Belly band"??
I originally felt like 18 weeks is too early for this, but you are all making it seem like a great idea!!! Baby just feels heavy - especially when I try to sleep on my side, or am up and moving all day.
  • There are definitely days where my uterus feels heavier than others. I didn't realize there was a belt for this kind of thing? And is it too early for that? I feel like this is just the beginning of the heavy feeling!
  • @melyrae I personally don't know what they're like I've never had one myself. I feel like the term belly band though is just a piece of stretch fabric to help hold your pants up. The one's that I've see have lots of velcro to hold things together. My biggest hope if I decide to get one, is that it helps hold my hips together. The hip pain I end up with is miserable. It feels like my hips are falling in opposite directions. I'm already starting to get lower pelvic pain where again it feels like it's separating in ways that it shouldn't.
  • I have never had bloody noses until this pregnancy... just one of those weird things that you don't know about when you think about pregnancy symptoms.
  • @mamamoomoo12 I have them with my very 1st pregnancy. Like you, I never really had bloody noses before that.... for me it was kind of one of these weird little reminders that Hey I'm still pregnant lol

  • @jhysmath with you on the hip pain, my tailbone is already starting to hurt and I know is because it’s all stretching back out again. Trying to tell myself it doesn’t hurt so I don’t think about how I’ll feel at 30+ weeks.
  • @mamamoomoo12 yes! I haven’t had an actively bleeding nose, but when I blow my nose in the mornings (usually only then) I see it. So weird haha, definitely a pregnancy thing.
  • ya'll I am so tired.  I'm seriously falling asleep at my desk.
