The Great Big Queston Thread!

Re: The Great Big Queston Thread!

  • @mk2022x I feel like March 2023 is normal. Ours is actually August 2023 for newcomers to the facility so a ways off. I hate that finding childcare has to be such a hassle. As it is I’m ending my leave early bc it’s the space they have and if I didn’t take it they’d give it to someone else. I could technically just pay for the few weeks to hold the spot but not working and doing that isn’t really feasible.
  • Loading the player...
  • @aaj1821 it’s the same mechanism they use at a doctors office so I can’t get behind this elusive risk of heating fetal tissue (that I’ve never heard before).
And like @jhysmath said, I used mine with both my other kids and have had no issues. I actually used it way more with them.
  • @mokay19 the thing I was reading said because they professionals they can find it quickly and aren’t holding it over the same spot for long because of this, also you normally don’t get ultrasounds multiple times a week
  • @aaj1821 right, people “normally” don’t. But then you have high risk pregnancies that get regular ultrasounds and regular checks.

You can assess your own risks and make your decision for your pregnancy, but I prefer to use mine to mitigate my stress and panic otherwise.
  • Are there bump rules about staying in your confirmed due date month group? Asking because a friend is due mid August and they've moved on to a private group. They said they'll be checking the public bump group and accept active people later on but the group is pretty dead so hard to be active in a dead group. For me, I don't mind if we're not all the exact same gestation as we're all going through the same thing and can still offer support and my last bump group we had babies born in a range of 4 months anyways. But how do you guys feel about a little overlap? Is it unheard of here on the bump?
  • No, there are no rules.  IMHO, August went private WAY too early - they had a couple of very pushy people in there who essentially made the decision for everyone else.  At some point we will likely look at going private or moving to an alternate platform for people who want to, but the public group will always be accessible, too.  Frankly I think we shouldn't look at going private until middle to end of May, as people are starting to head into the 3rd trimester.  Does your friend want to come over here? Personally I wouldn't have a problem with it.  The July group still has some activity as well (although they also have a private group) so that might be an option for her as well.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • Also, we do have one woman who is due at the end of September who is active both in here and in October and I think that's just fine.

  • @kboydbowman I got the same feeling about the pushy people in August. And absolutely way too early! In my last bump group, we went straight to facebook but it was sometime at the beginning of the 3rd trimester. Lost of people joined in the 2nd and even some in the 3rd which were then added to the fb group. I thought I'd check here before asking if she wanted to join us in case some people were against it. I feel like we're all pretty easy going and don't get bent out of wack too easily. Also, reading some of the August boards, it seemed like some of them were there more for drama and trolling people who didn't "follow the rules" whereas this group, I feel like all we want is support and eventually internet friendship.
  • @babywiik I don’t have an issue with her being over here, because we just want her to be comfortable and interact as she wants. Did she not want to join the private bump group? Or did they change platforms?
  • The private group is here on the Bump. She's likely not being given the choice - there are about 3 people in the August group that basically decided they were the gatekeepers and have essentially shut people out from joining the private group if they weren't already active on the public board during the 1st trimester.  Besides, @theblondebump is technically due in mid August, so she'd at least have a bit of company, and it's almost certain they're going to make me deliver in mid-August as well.

  • **** Lurking from August Private Group****

Hi @babywiik @kboydbowman I’m probably one of the “pushy gatekeepers” you are passively aggressively mentioning in this thread. We polled our group not once but twice about the move and then polled again AFTER we moved. We decided to move early based on what was best for our group. Some other members have some safety concerns and we did what we feel is best for us. There are several other newbies who have posted since our move and we have accepted, so your narrative isn’t completely correct. Since we waited until after all of our moms to be were at least in their second trimester we found it to be enough time to move. There have been a few other public board posters and we encourage them to start a community of their own and engage the board. If they choose to they can either form their own private group or would be considered for admission to ours. Any further questions or clarification needed, please feel free to either @ me or PM.

    sincerely,
    one of the 3
  • @laj0217 I appreciate your respectful ask and I will. My only ask in return is to please speak with your fellow Sept bumpie and ask the same. I have no problem leaving the conversation, although if she continues to engage in argumentative behavior with me I will be forced to defend myself and my bmb. I sincerely wish all of the moms here and everywhere else healthy pregnancies as well.

@laj0217 sure. However, I didn’t come here to attack anyone and I wasn’t rude. I came to defend, in a pretty polite manner, our group who was under fire.

    I second @laj0217 request.
  • @mamamoomoo12 I’m the same ! Waking up 4-5 times and I also drink water basically until bed because I wake up feeling so dehydrated and almost have a hangover. I do try and slow down my water intake but when I wake up thirsty I have to drink. I’m glad at least I can fall back asleep quickly I hope it stays that way.
  • @x_tina729
I already pee like 20 times a day.  I shudder to think what 3rd trimester is going to look like.

Has anyone else had “existential dread farts”?

It was happening more before week 11, but I would get this horrible feeling like death itself was standing next to me, and then a few minutes later I would have a fart that could knock out a rhino.
I had one Friday and got curious if anyone could relate.
  • lol no, I think that may just be you.  However, the particular kind of bariatric surgery I had can result in "peel the paint from the walls" farts if I eat the wrong kinds of things, which is particularly terrible in pregnancy.

They’re awful. I literally feel like my psyche is broken and everything is hopeless for 3-5 minutes and then I fart like I ate a fermented skunk.

I feel like this prepares me for having a child somehow with how they’ll feel things and not understand how to express it.
  • @pangolindrome but was it a fermented skunk that ran through a paper mill and then pissed itself while eating durian?

  • @kboydbowman Haha 🤣 what kind of bariatric surgery causes that?!?
  • duodenal switch. includes a malabsorption component.  carbs do bad, bad things to my intestines.

  • @pangolindrome I am definitely more gassy, but mostly it's in the morning when I wake up. I find it interesting that each time a flip over I gravity release a pocket of air or something like baby is already pushing air from escaping.

Which reminds me for ftms there will come a point where you will have to stand up from the toilet and sit back down before you can empty your bladder because baby it sitting on a portion of it. I always knew baby would make you have to pee more, but no one ever told me, baby would keep you from peeing sometimes and how terrible it is to feel like you need to pee and nothing will come out.
  • Hello fellow September 2022 mamas!

I am 15 weeks pregnant and cannot stop eating scrambled eggs and hash-browns. Haha Even crazier thing is this entire meal includes foods that were a previous sensitivity of mine! I still feel like I get a worse headache hours after eating it, but I no longer have my other typical reactions to it. So I am fully enjoying it! Anyone else able to eat a food you normally couldn’t or shouldn’t?

As far as aversions go, I have been pretty averse to chicken and beef and meat in general since week 6 of being pregnant. Chicken either tastes soapy or like it’s bad.

Another weird pregnancy taste bud thing is that now saltines taste fishy to me.

I have been nauseous since week 6 of pregnancy and dealt with vomiting as well + a whole bunch of other symptoms.

Would love to hear some of your cravings and aversions so far this pregnancy!

I wake up to urinate around 2:30am then 3:30 then 6am and I’m usually awake and read at that time after I come from the bathroom. I wake up again around 9 on weekends or when ever my husband’s alarm goes off. My back or hips usually hurt when I wake up and on my nightly trips to the bathroom my bladder/stomach feels full and heavy. Also, my throat when I wake up feels dry and I have a headache that goes away with the more water I drink which sends me to the bathroom. So yes I too am having a challenging time getting a great night’s sleep but I tell myself this is preparing me for baby waking up in the middle of the night. That helps a bit. I would like to get the back and hip comfort situated though. Does anyone know how soon you can lay on your back after you have the baby? If so, I am looking forward to it. ☺️
  • @ashleyrippentrop hey I’m sorry to hear about your aversions. So far my aversions are anything sweet or sugary makes me have an awful metallic taste in my mouth. Including pasta which I love.
  • @1stbabydue0912 Given that many women deliver when lying on their back, you can lie on your back immediately. You can even lie on your back while pregnant, they just don't suggest you do it for long periods of time. Usually your body will warn you, so to speak, if you're on your back too long.

  • Best bra I’ve found—as my boobs have been incredibly sore and growing daily since like week 5–was actually a nursing bra from Kindred Bravely…supportive, comfortable, and obviously can sue later while nursing as well.

@1stbabydue0912 Oh interesting! Pregnancy does such weird things to the tastebuds!! That is sad about pasta. :(
    Thank you for sharing!
  • I slept on my right side last night and woke up with one of my ribs just killing me. It feels bruised and sore. Hurts a little when I breath. Anyone else deal with this? I feel like it’s just from sleeping wrong but any little pain has my head spinning 😵‍💫
  • wisehwiseh member
hahaha @pangolindrome you crack me up. I get similar. It feels like I'm about to die from the cramping/pain and then I do an awful fart 😅

@jhysmath I am already at that point! I had to do a 2hr drive over the weekend and it took me close to 4 hours cause I was stopping every 30 mins with the urge to pee & only every second time did I actually pee. I was so frustrated. I feel like I never had that with my DD so was confused what was going on, thanks for the explanation.
  • @kboydbowman same.. I’ve always been a frequent pee’er (spell check? Lol) but lately it’s been truly out of control and I’m really scared for the 3rd trimester.
  • @pangolindrome I’m not sure what you mean by death is standing beside you but I’ve been pretty gassy and disgusting lately. Your comment made me really laugh out loud though that my boyfriend asked me what I’m laughing at and when I told him he said I totally have them lmao. Thanks for the laugh !

@mamamoomoo12 I'm not a doctor, but that amount of pain in a rib sounds a little worrying! I know there's a lot of talk about the "right" way to sleep when pregnant, but it's pretty hotly debated, and I don't think it has anything to do with avoiding rib pain. I hope you're feeling better!
    First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

  • Wow. I need to log in to my account more. Drama! Anyways. I like the idea of moving to FB in like May. I find it hard to remember to log in. I’m part of a birth mom group for my Marchie of 2020, but there are so many people. Really looking forward to getting to know people more.
