I have my NT on Friday and was wondering if it’s worth bringing my spouse to? He’s got to take off work and I’ve been waiting to take him to an appointment he could actually see the baby at.
@paigeme21 I would say yes too!!! It was so cool to see the baby move around (and actually look like a baby this time versus the dating scan) and I’m so glad my husband was there to see it!!
My doc also offers a 15 week “2D gender scan” where we’ll get pics if the gender is even visible but I signed a waiver stating I might not see anything fun so I’m curious about how that ones going to go!
I’m currently 15 weeks and every time I sneeze hard (I have allergies, not fun) or sometimes when I lay down I think I can feel the baby moving around. It’s the same spot, right where my uterus is, and almost the same feeling each time. Can’t even describe it really, like something swimming in there. lol Definitely not gas or anything like that. I know what gas feels like.
I know the baby can react to things like pressure and whatnot at this stage. Is it possible so early to feel the baby? Or is it in my head? >.<
@bird_lady I had my doctors appt yesterday at 15w2d and my doctor asked if I could feel movement yet. So, it’s possible. I can’t and she told me 18weeks is average, so soon.
@bird_lady I remember when I was pregnant last time they said a good way to tell was to drink like OJ or something with sugar or caffeine and then lay on your back. Most of the time it would get baby moving, and you'd be still and focused enough to feel it. I felt #1 at around 18 weeks. Hoping I can feel this one earlier!
@bird_lady I'm 15w1d today and I just know I felt baby this morning. I was laying still and about to get out of bed and I felt a small brush in my lower region, exactly where I've always found the heart beat. This is my second (well, third, but the first ended at 7 weeks), so I know expecting it sooner is normal.
So, I’ve been trying to pack a couple of boxes each day for our anticipated move. I’m so frustrated to find that about two boxes is all I can do. I have zero stamina anymore and actually find myself out of breath from what should be a seemingly easy task. The exhaustion from 1st trimester seems gone. Is this the new normal or will it continue to improve a bit more as 2nd trimester continues?
@laj0217 Hey I’m so sorry you have to be packing. I want to live the rest of my life in my tiny house because I hate moving so much. I think your energy kind of waxes and wanes throughout your pregnancy. It certainly did for me. I would have days I’d come home from work and need to nap and weekends I would landscape the entire front yard and clean the whole house. Hang in there.
What are everyone’s thoughts or experiences with sleeping positions? I’m 15 weeks now, and saw this come up as one of the bump articles (sleeping on left side). I’m normally a side sleeper, but keep waking up on my back with my arms a little tingly like they’re about to fall asleep. My previous doctor wasn’t that concerned about sleeping positions with my daughter, but this article and my tingly arms is making me think I should be starting to use a body pillow to keep me in place. Am I being too paranoid??
@mackenziegr tingly arms is likely pregnancy carpal tunnel. I had it really bad with my last pregnancy but only bedtime with the two before that. I've read that sleeping on your back of fine as long as you're comfortable. I know towards the end, if I end up on my back or hurts and I can't breathe.
Has anyone else been having trouble sleeping? All this week (w14) I’ve been waking up to pee around 3 or 4 AM and then just can’t get back to sleep. I’m exhausted!😩
@serenity_by_van@jhysmath oh yeah. This week has been bad. I’m waking up AT LEAST once per night to pee (12w3d) and sometimes I can go right back to sleep, other times it takes an hour or two. I’ve always had an easy time both going to sleep, staying asleep, and/or going back to sleep… this sucks.
Last night, I woke up around 10:30 to pee, and because my hunger is so weird now, it took me until midnight to realize I couldn’t sleep because I was hungry. 😤
I guess what I meant to say is you’re not alone. It’s not like we can neglect hydration either, so this catch 22 sucks so much.
I asked my doctor about sleeping positions on Tuesday because I always wake up on my back and read the same article. She said if it’s causing a problem you’ll feel bad and it will wake you up. She said if I was worried about it, I could use a pillow.
I woke up once a night to pee pre-pregnancy. Now, it’s closer to 2-3x. Definitely disruptive to my sleep. If I try and cut down water before bed, though, I just wake up in the middle of the night parched instead of having to pee.
My doctor said don’t stress about your back and your body will move you before it becomes dangerous so I haven’t been stressing it. I’m still sleeping on my stomach actually (dreading the day that I can’t anymore). I sleep pretty well but I’m waking up 4 times a night to pee! It’s crazy! I’ve always peed a lot and prob woke up 2x a night normally but it’s worse now. Luckily I call right back asleep but I’m only 15 weeks now so I’m scared how bad it will get.
Add me to the awful sleep club. I only wake up to pee about twice a night now, but I do everything I can to keep my eye mask on so the light through the windows doesn't bother me.
I also had my first chiropractor appointment on Wednesday and that actually seems to have helped so much. Something must have been really out of whack because even my heart isn't racing anymore when I lay down. I haven't started using my pregnancy pillow yet (I'm planning to get a new one and hand my old one down to my sister), but the adjustment has helped enough to get me through for at least a bit longer. I cannot recommend it enough (and it's relatively cheap! Mine is only $39/appointment and she doesn't take insurance).
@trapperkeeper87 +1 for chiro! I've been getting adjusted regularly since my last pregnancy.. my body has gone through so many changes in the last two years and I've never had any pain or discomfort with them. So grateful for my amazing chiro!
@trapperkeeper87 I keep forgetting to call and book appointments. I really need to do so, and so does my husband. The chiro I saw for my first pregnancy to try and flip my breech baby, just opened an office in our town and became a school board member. I really liked him and want to see him again, I just hope the fact he's school board now isn't too weird.

I tried to do my hydrating before 7pm and it guarantees I pee before bed and then around 1am(ish).
I’ve become amazed at my body’s ability to turn a sip of water into a full quart.
I am up probably 4-5 times a night to pee. I have to stay hydrated throughout the night because since becoming pregnant my body very quickly likes to become dehydrated which leads to migraines, when then lead to having to stay in bed all day the next day. I have been able to fall asleep again pretty quickly. I keep my room really dark and wear an eye mask. I keep the bathroom lights dimmed so I am not jarred awake.
Usually around 3:30 I have to go to the kitchen and grab a snack or a glass of milk. And when I really can't sleep i curl up next to my dog in her dog bed for a while. She is so cuddly and calms me down if my thoughts keep running. lol Or I watch the Great British Baking Show for like 20 min.
I have loved the wrap around pregnancy pillow its so cozy but I do get a bit hotter at night with it. Thank goodness for the Bedjet!
We went to our first daycare tour today (We’ve been on the waitlist since the first week in January). They said they wouldn’t know if there’s a spot for us until the month before we need it. Is this what y’all are finding as well? Kinda nerve wracking.
The boy person will be a stay-at-home parent, so fortunately this is not an issue I have to deal with. The waitlist for the local Montessori, however, is 18 months long, so I'll pretty much have to put Cletus the Fetus on the waitlist at birth....
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
I’m also having an awful time with sleep! I wake up at least once a night busting to wee but then I go & it’s a teeny tiny amount. It’s so frustrating 😩
Regarding sleeping positions - I wedged a pillow under my back in my last pregnancy which seemed to help. Even if I rolled onto my back it wasn’t all the way on my back.
@laj0217 we have the same issue with daycare. My DD has been on the wait list at every daycare since Feb last year & still doesn’t have a spot. I put this babe on all the wait lists as soon as I found out I was pregnant so hopefully by July next year (18 months on the list) they’ll have a spot. None of the family day cares where I live take under 2yos so I am stressing a bit about how we’ll financially manage a private nanny for 50hrs a week if we can’t get a daycare spot 😩
To clarify, my DD is currently at a family daycare but I want to send her to a centre because the family daycares are only open for 9hrs where the centres are open 11hrs. I work 12hr days so paying a private nanny for 4 hours a day on top of my full day fees at the FDC.
@laj0217 we lucked out and got a spot starting middle of November at the daycare we used for our son. It helped we had a little priority bc he had previously gone there otherwise I’d probably be waiting till August of next year. Place for us wasn’t negotiable so we would have waited and managed. Waitlists are rough!
We're at an in home daycare. We asked when the 3 year old told her about the baby if she'd be OK taking in another. She said yes. The two "babies" she has now are a little over 1 age a little under 1 so I think this will be good. If we end up moving to NY, I don't know what we will do, but I'm pretty sure public preschool is free so we have the oldest covered.
@wiseh that really stinks! I think daycare costs are high. I don’t even want to know about nanny costs!
It sounds like if we decide to have 2, the sibling priority will be a help lol. I just don’t know what I’ll do if I have to go back to work and we don’t have daycare yet. Guess that’s a bridge to cross in October.
I reached out to a daycare in our area yesterday asking about costs and availability and the director responded saying that they’d love to have us in for a tour later this year and that they might have availability for March 2023 (my mom is going to help us for a couple months after I go back to work). Is that normal? I feel like after reading everyone else’s experience that if I wait until closer to birth our son will miss out on his chance but maybe I’m just panicking. Also, why are daycare prices protected like the holy grail?!
@aaj1821 I use mine about twice a week, and I limit myself to those times when I'm having a bit of anxiety about the pregnancy and want to confirm that bub is still hanging on. Last night I struggled to find it and that scared me, but I eventually did and felt better. I'm beginning to wonder if the placenta is a bit anterior. 🤔

Hopefully you can feel your baby soon!
I'll have to get some OJ and give that a try! thanks!
