@x0morganna I was told to fast for 8 hours. When I had gd if I went longer than that my numbers started creeping up. So back in my childless days I used to get up test eat a quick breakfast and go back to sleep at the 8 hour mark. You could call or message your ob just to check it out. If you were already insulin resistant I'm surprised they're having you do the test and not just monitor for a few weeks for diagnosis.
@jhysmath thank you! Yeah, I know I probably won't get anything right now, but I figure with COVID goofing up delivery times, if I order one soon-ish it might be useful by the time it arrives. I can't decide if it will help reduce anxiety, or if I will just get anxious anytime it doesn't work.

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
@lilienne I bought a Sonoline B off a friend and it works really well. I couldn't reliably find anything until about 12w3d, but I can now (at 13w5d). I didn't have one with my previous pregnancy, but my anxiety was higher with this one and I needed the comfort.
@lilienne it really helps me, especially because my first pregnancy was a mmc. I tried last night and found the hb easily, though baby kept running away from me.
@lilienne I'm borrowing one from a friend and did the same with the last pregnancy. You could check Poshmark or Mercari before you pay full price for one. I couldn't find the heartbeat until I was a few days into week 12.
I’m 13 weeks 5 days pregnant with twins. Baby A is doing g just fine, measuring right on, good fluid, etc. Baby B wasn’t expected to hang on this long, at first US (9ish weeks) it was because of large yolk sac, next US (10ish weeks) because of small gestational sac and enlarged yolk sac we were also told there’s likely a chromosomal problem with B, and the last two US (12 weeks and 13w5d) because B is measuring a week behind and the gestational sac is still very small. We’ve had chromosomal testing, and twins are identical and low risk for everything. I’m 33, I’ve had 2 easy healthy pregnancies so I’m not very risky either. Our OB is recommending selective reduction of B, it is likely (they’re guessing 75% chance) that B will end up needing some life saving procedure in the early 20weeks, putting baby A in serious danger and obviously baby B in danger as well. We originally were fine with this option, but B just isn’t doing as badly as we expected at this point. All of the bad outcomes we expect just keep not quite happening and baby B just keeps hanging in there. My rational mind says the responsible thing to do is to selective reduction and keep A safe, rather than keeping B and ending up with them both dead or severely delayed due to premature birth or other craziness. Rationally, I think this is a quality of life issue that I’m not willing to take. However, my gut just keeps telling me that B is going to hang in there like they have been. I’m curious if anyone has had a similar experience, with twins in this situation or with their gut and head disagreeing??
@HCF1318 - Hi! Please make sure to introduce yourself in the Introductions thread so we can get to know you/your story better.
I've never had to deal with this, and I understand wanting people's opinions, but I think this is completely up to you and your SO's beliefs, etc. Personally, I could never choose the selective reduction, but I do understand that you may feel some guilt if Baby A were to end up being delayed too. It's hard for me to answer this without it being a faith-based answer because my beliefs are that miracles happen every day, especially if you keep seeing Baby B push through and prove doctors wrong. Again, I'm not a doctor, just an internet stranger, so I can't give you a medical opinion, just a personal opinion...but I would personally go with your gut.
@HCF1318 what a scary situation to be in! I don't know what I would do in that situation, and I would imagine no matter which way you end up choosing it will be difficult not to second guess yourself.
When you get a chance, please also stop by the introductions thread!
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@HCF1318 I’m sorry you’re in a tough situation. My personal choice would likely be reduction if it meant a better outcome for the other baby. Of course, I’m not a professional and am not in your situation. Wishing you the best of luck and health outcomes
@kboydbowman Thanks for the input. I think you’re right that well second guess either way, maybe I just need to make peace with knowing I’ll always wonder either way!
@HCF1318 obviously my ability to make the choice from the outside looking in is so much different than if it was happening to me. First thoughts I had was that with my second pregnancy I was told there was no hb and I was going to miscarry. Came back the next week and there was the hb and my daughter is now almost 4. My 3rd pregnancy I was told I was having a molar pregnancy and was scheduled for a d&c the ob told me 99.9% sure I needed to terminate immediately. I got a second opinion from a larger hospital mfm. And my daughter is almost 2. I look at both of them and get teary that I was either told they wouldn't make it or that I would have to terminate. I don't think I could do it with that past experience. Especially with what a fighter baby B has been.
Second looking at your intro she the fact that you had home births. Part of me would want to have just a single so I could have a less complicated pregnancy and not need hospital interventions.
Hey ladies! My gender keeper should have recieved our results last night via email. I took the test around 10+5. Can the results be trusted? I don't want to celebrate the wrong gender at our reveal party.
Anyone willing to share their experiences? I'm in the military & unfortunately, the do not offer the NIPT. The earliest I could find out would be 20 wks & as a planner, that is just not realistic... TIA.
@roxyurban6 Can you go to one of the speciality 3D/4D US to have an extra one done? They're really not expensive (usually less than $100). I don't know much about the Sneak Peek test.

@roxyurban6 I’ve never done Sneak Peak, but in my research of it previously I had found that the test itself is very accurate. The main variation and issue that people see is if they provided contaminated samples. If they have a husband or boys living at their house, I had seen reviews of people having contamination from that. Since all it looks for is if there is XX or XY present, if there is any accidental outside DNA mixed in it could affect the results.
When did everyone start showing. I’m 11 weeks and a STM and omg I feel like I’ve popped. I definitely look pregnant I’m like excited but am a little mentally messed up about the body changes
@chelsraec I definitely started showing (blump? bump? who knows!) in week 10, I have no clue why. Strangers still aren't noticing, but our friends and family who know have definitely commented. So far I'm loving the changes, but I know that may shift as things progress! Sorry to hear you're feeling iffy about the physical changes, that's got to be rough. Maybe it's time to take a look at your wardrobe and figure out what you feel best in? I've definitely had to retire a few items that feel too tight or too restrictive or that make me feel bulge-y.

Because of how badly they screwed up my previous C-section, I always look 5ish months pregnant. So now I look 6 months pregnant lol. I expect to look huge by the time all of this is said and done.

@chelsraec I know I have a tiny bump now at 14w, but my mommy pouch from my daughter is hiding it for the most part. I'm okay with that and am doing my very best not to gain excessive weight this time around, but second trimester has brought an excessive appetite now that my morning sickness has finally hit the road. Sigh.
I'm freaking out (and not sure how to use this app so I apologize! I think I wrote on someone's wall?)
I don't know why I didn't Google if tuna was safe - I feel like I've googled everything! - and just now realizing canned tuna is a big no no. I have probably had 4-6 cans in my first trimester.
Is baby going to be OK? Has anyone else done anything stupid like this?
Ok, "big no" is a bit dramatic. You're supposed to try to limit tuna because it's a relatively high mercury fish. But unless you're literally mainlining tuna as your only source of protein, I think a few cans over the course of your pregnancy are not the end of the world.

@babez_mom Don’t freak about the tuna, just don’t let it be the only source of protein in your diet!
also STM here and I got skinny again after baby#1 but forget it, I’m letting it all hang out at 14 weeks+Some days. Maternity leggings and shirts all the way.
@babez_mom make sure and stop by the introductions thread! I notice you hadn't posted one yet.

@chelsraec I started showing by 10 weeks. Now I’m 15 weeks and have a definite baby bump - like enough that multiple people are confidently coming up to me to say “you’re pregnant” without hesitation. I’m 5’3 and 100lbs regularly though so I’m a small human lol. Not anywhere to grow but out!
@melyrae I'm also on the smaller side, though not quite as tiny! (5'2" and 120lbs, pre-pregnancy.) Family lore says my maternal grandmother didn't hit 100lbs until she was pregnant for the first time. I do think it's true that smaller women start to show sooner, on average...though my husband is not-so-secretly hoping it means I'm pregnant with twins. (After two ultrasounds that seems unlikely, though the internet says it does occasionally get missed on early scans!)

@babez_mom I think you're fine with a few cans of tuna. I'm also a little skeptical about canned tuna. Like I know its fish but my friend who is extremely allergic to all types if fish, like can't even smell it or her throat starts to close up, once was accidentally given some and she had no reaction🤔 so I wonder how processed it is and maybe they've somehow processed the fish out of it?😂 unrealistic when the ingredients at tune fish and water but still I'm I'm but sus. I like tune though and most things, when eaten in moderation are ok. I've been eating salami the last few weeks because some protein is better than none🤷♀️
@kboydbowman Thank you for your response! We do plan on having a private US done during wk 13 (it's the earliest they'll do it) but it's like 2 days before our peojectes Gender Reveal.😅
@mokay19 thank you for your response! I did the Snap version which I believe is less likely to get contaminated. However, the only guy in the house ia my husband and he wasn't allowed in the bathroom while I did it 😅
I’m a FTM and I felt like my husband and I noticed a bump protruding at week 10 but now at week 13 others are noticing the baby bump. In the evenings it seems to bump more.
Thanks everyone. Good ideas. I should evaluate the wardrobe.
@trapperkeeper87 I definitely gained way more than I wanted last pregnancy too. Trying to go for more walks which feels impossible with freezing weather.
@1stbabydue0912 yes, evenings are crazy. It’s the next day and I don’t feel that big
@babez_mom I wouldn’t freak too much about the tuna! I ate quite a bit with my first two pregnancies and they turned out great .
I just made myself a tuna melt for lunch today with Safe Catch Elite tuna which claims to be lower in mercury and endorsed by the American Pregnancy Association. So if you are worried about tuna but still craving it, that might be a good route to go. I found it at my regular grocery store.

Thanks for the input, I think that’s the logical choice for sure. I’m hoping that getting a second opinion might help confirm our choice.
