Does anyone have experience with the Motif Luna (battery option version)? I've been reading a bunch of reviews and it seems to be the most comparable to the Spectra S1 (which I loved with DS1), but slightly smaller and lighter weight.
I BF my daughter for a little over 2 years. BF was super important to me but I did not intend to go that long - just happened. She likely would have gone longer but I was more than ready to wean.
I definitely recommend taking a BF class prior to giving birth with a lactation consultant (our hospital offered them) and take your SO with you.
Know that it will likely be hard at first and you will want to give up - and if you do that’s cool but if you want to push through, to me it was worth it. In the hospital with my daughter, the on call ped said I needed to supplement with formula but instead I had them bring me a pump and I pumped to help bring my milk in faster and gave her the extra with a syringe. The nurses and lactation consultants were super supportive and helpful. It’s awkward to have other people grabbing your boob and helping position the baby on your nipple but it was super helpful.
I went back to work at 14 weeks and pumped 3 times/day but my kid hardly took a bottle and ended up reverse cycling - not taking much while I was gone and then nursing all the time when i was home. I ended up donating a ton of milk since she didn’t like a bottle and I had really good pumping output. I used a Spectra and really liked it - I had a hands free bra and would pump at my desk and keep working.
I’ve only nursed one kid but I’m pretty passionate about it so feel free to ask questions.
Also, if your area offers support groups after birth, take advantage of those. My hospital sponsored a weekly meeting with a lactation consultant that was free and it was a great resource and I was able to interact with other new moms.
