I CANNOT tell you the last time I had Hamburger Helper...maybe when I was in high school living with my parents??? Anyway, I HAD to have it last night. Well, of course I don't have any - why would I? Well, I found a homemade recipe and it hit the spot. I'm adding it to my recipe book!
@wisewitch222 Here it is! I added too many noodles, which made a little drier than I wanted but 2 cups did not seem like enough! I would do 3! I also wanted it to be a little zestier. Some recipes I found had tomato paste, which I'm sure would help, I just didn't have it on hand. But it was delicious AND I have leftovers!!! Husband approved as well!
So I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this but at my intake appt earlier this week, the nurse recommended Zots candy for nausea. I have never seen this advertised on blogs/pinterest as nausea cures but they TOTALLY HELP. Nothing, aside from constant snacking has helped me but the Zots provide pretty much instant relief. It's wild. They sent me home with a few but couldn't find any at stores around here so ordered a big bag on Amazon.
my last pregnancy I craved chocolate milk and fresh turkey subs (not together) but I was going to Capriottis on my days off to get myself lunch. That hasn't started yet but I have a strong yearning for apples.
This is a drink and not food, BUT I had a Community Coffee cold latte drink today and it was magical. The first coffee-related product I’ve been able to stomach in 7 weeks. I have never been more excited 😅
@Katek819 I’ve been wanting apples too! I did an Instacart order today, she found everything- including my apples, and I didn’t get them! Ugh I was so angry! I’ll get credited but I’m still without apples!
@tmartin014 I also had my first coffee related drink today, but I chickened out and got a French vanilla cappuccino. Lol. It was delicious though!
I also finally got the bagel I’ve been craving for MONTHS today, and it was so good that I might get another one tomorrow 🙊
Chinese food tonight! Beef with broccoli over white rice. It's what I get every time. I'm a very simple kind of gal. I also really appreciate that my local place does not put in carrots or onions. If I wanted those, I'd ask for them.
@paytonpedro a bagel sounds delicious! I'm still too afraid to get coffee. I love a good cup, but I'm very sensitive to caffeine. If it's after 12pm, I can't even have tea or soda with caffeine, or I'll be up all night.
@Katek819 I’ve been craving chocolate milk! I’ve even put it in my smoothies some days.
I can’t drink caffeine because it makes my anxiety go out of control, so no coffee for me. I will get a decaf latte at coffee meetings sometimes but I haven’t had one of those in awhile because covid.
I had to chill on the bagels a bit because my jaw started to hurt.
Chinese food does sound kinda good.
I got Chipotle to-go for lunch today and thought they messed up my order but then checked my receipt and I mis-ordered it so could only blame myself. It was still good though!
Y’all I am so behind. But! On Wednesday this week I tried my first coffee drink since 12/27, and since it was special I got it from my beloved local shop. It was a brown sugar honey latte with half caf, and I got it and took that first heavenly sip… and promptly poured it down the drain. My heart, it breaks. I’m so jealous of all y’all getting to drink it. Also it’s not weird that I remember the exact last day I tried coffee. Definitely not weird.
Can I have coffee again plz? 😂
(also fair warning I’m about to spam the heck out of these boards. Sorry. It’s been a WEEEEEEEEEEK.)
@mangoandguava glad to see you again. Definitely not weird! My last coffee I drank half of and it sat on my kitchen table for a full day before I dumped it out. Lol.
@mangoandguava nope. I ordered a peppermint mocha today and my brain wants it and the rest of pregnant me does not. I am very sad about this. Solidarity.
Is anyone else craving pickled and fermented foods all the time? I’ve noticed since that craving has kicked in (and my new steady diet of probiotic loving foods) that my bloating as drastically decreased and I’ve been back to my “regular” self digestively speaking. I’ve been snacking on pickles and having a side dish of kimchi at almost every meal,
@mrsmeg72 does sour beer count? I could go for one of those 😩. I’m 12+3 and I’ve noticed a lot of my bloating has gone down this week. Our hormones influence bloating a lot as well, but I’m glad you’re feeling more yourself and found something that’s helping!
I always cut around the pit, then dice with the skin still on.
Here's a video.
This is the easiest way. I've got two mango trees in my yard and practically live off of mangoes for 2 months a year. The only difference with how I do it and the video is I give the pits to my husband who gladly bites off the remainder of the pulp. He's a mango monster.
Give me all the chocolate! I just ate a Cadbury Flake, which is a candy from Ireland and England. Think the milk chocolate in a Cadbury Creme Egg, but flaky. Oh my gosh, so good.
@paytonpedro I have seen that you can take a mango and use like a pint or drinking glass to extract the fruit from the skin. I don’t know if it actually WORKS but it might be helpful!
@hola_knotties thanks! I’ll give it a watch. Can you eat the skin? Lol
I think the easiest part is skinning it, but getting it off the pit sucks lol. I’ve tried cutting it off first and then skinning and skinning then cutting it off. Idk. It just is such a hassle haha
@paytonpedro no! Don't eat the skin, but keep it on until the end, it's much less slippery than dealing with a peeled mango. I once nearly cut the tip of my finger off because of a slippery mango.
That looks awesome @paytonpedro I just got 6 boxes of Girl Scout cookies dropped off to me so I’ll be eating those all week.
Also, my cookie suppliers are my eye doctor’s daughters (who I used to babysit) so when they were over here I told her about being pregnant. I figured, well she is my doctor so she can know early (not the girls yet though, it’s still too early even though I know they’ll be so excited!)
@paytonpedro I changed my mind almost immediately and wanted wings. I ordered from a local place that's relatively new. Honey Hot wings, honey BBQ wings, and batman & Robin fries. They're fries with cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak on top. Delightful.
So we had a photo session today and by the time we were getting home, we needed to do fast food for dinner because it was late. Ummm boo to Arby’s for being out of chocolate milk shakes and waiting to tell me after I pulled up to the window.
I regret my chicken wing decision last night. 😩 @mdfarmchick how's Arby's gonna run out of chocolate milkshakes? It's not McDonald's where the ice cream machine is broken down every 5 minutes! I'm sorry you missed out on what sounds like a yummy treat.
Has watermelon always been sooooo delicious ? honestly I wanted some and its not in season so I assumed it would be substandard but I could hardly wait to get home and I almost ate it all. It tasted like heaven!
@paytonpedro Oh watermelon, yes. I was all about fruit with my first and right now watermelon and strawberries sounds soooo good. But the strawberries have been mediocre around here lately. I don't expect us to have great strawberries in winter but I wish we did! Watermelon, however, is much easier to find.
I've been liking anything with *acid* lately. I've posted about that before, the salt and vinegar chips + pickles. Well it's stretched to spaghetti with a specific type of red sauce (Rao's) because it's less sweet and more acid-y. It's probably because I threw up often during the first few weeks of pregnancy. Google says craving vinegar means I'm trying to replace lost stomach acid. It makes sense.
Re: January- What my pregnant self is eating…

I still just want to eat all the mango over here and I’m not willing to spend 5x the amount to buy it already cut….

I FINALLY GOT MY MEXICAN AND IT WAS GLORIOUS! Even my Virgin pina colada!! Here’s a picture because YUM!!
I just got 6 boxes of Girl Scout cookies dropped off to me so I’ll be eating those all week.

Totally eating my Mexican leftovers for dinner tonight and making my kid’s something else haha. I was too full to eat them last night.
