Also 6 weeks today and same.  I look at those "miscarriage rates" charts, and for my age/height/weight/etc., today is the first day I am under 20% risk for MC, so that feels good.

  • @kboydbowman See! A reason to celebrate! Yes, 6 weeks feels like a big deal!
  • congrats @kboydbowman and @magnolia209 !! That's a huge milestone. I am so jealous. I feel like time is DRAGGING on for me to just get to 5 weeks lol
  • @runsonanxiety Omg. I’ve known I was pregnant for exactly 2 weeks now and these 2 weeks have been significantly longer than the 2 week wait before them or any other 2 weeks in my life! I hear you and feel you! You can do it. 5 weeks is a big deal too! Let’s celebrate when you get there! Anything to pass the time. I just want to see that there really is a baby in there! Then I promise to calm down. 2 weeks and 2 days until my ultrasound…
  • Currently 9+3, I feel like I can start counting down days until the second trimester and boy am I! So ready for the first trimester to be over.

Last pregnancy, by the second trimester, I felt great and like my old self again and that basically lasted for the rest of the pregnancy soooo that would be really nice if things could just be the same this time around!
  • @the blondebump - how are you 9+3?  Due date of 9/1 would be 7+6 - anyone earlier would go in August. :)

She had it confirmed through ultrasound. Her dates were about 1.5 weeks off and she opted to stay here instead of move to August.

  • Yep, what @trapperkeeper87 said. I’m still skeptical about the EDD they gave me based on when I ovulated, but according to my dating ultrasound, I’m due 8/21, so that’s the due date I’m operating under now! Figured it would be silly to move groups at this point though.

Last pregnancy I also ended up giving birth a little early, in March, so I was the second person of my April 2021 bump group to give birth then too! Go figure.
  • Is sorry I missed that!

@magnolia209 I feel ya on all of this. We’ve known for 3 weeks today and have 1 more week to go and I SWEAR time could not go any slower. I’m 7+2 according to the app but I’m thinking that will move back after my appt next week because I have longer cycles and probably ovulated later. BUT, until then, I like being 7+2 lol it feels safer.

Let’s hope time starts to move faster! This will be a long 40 weeks otherwise lol
  • I can definitely relate to this feeling of the pregnancy not feeling real and also how long time is dragging by.

My random thought for the day is ….how am I going to keep getting blood work done during this pregnancy without having a nervous breakdown. I get very faint with needles, and I almost passed out at the lab this morning when they had to go in a second time to get the extra vial they missed.

I had a good cry on the walk home and bought myself a pity party treat lol. My partner promised to come with me for the next ones, but oh man. I don’t love the feeling of almost fainting.

Anyone else struggling with the ick feeling of your body already being poked and prodded?
  • @j_ruth I have tiny veins and always ask them to use the smaller catheters, which helps a lot with the pain. Be sure to be well hydrated before you go for a prick and a prod so your veins are easier to find. Breathe deeply and don't watch. That helps me a lot, and it does get easier as the pregnancy progresses, but I don't think anyone in their right mind enjoys the needles aspect of pregnancy. Let them know how you're feeling; most nurses respect my feelings and have tricks to help.

What I'm not looking forward to next week is my rhogam shot. Blasted negative blood type. 😖 It's no worse than any other shot, but a shot in the butt is never fun.

  • @elle-0409 I'm so tempted to start window shopping, but I'm not really bloated and I live in pajama bottoms 90% of the time. I plan to get so many new maternity clothes! I cheaped out the first go around and I didn't feel good about how I looked at all. Bring on the stretch!

  • @elle-0409 putting away my maternity clothes after my last one was so tough. I want the stretch all the time!
  • @elle-0409 Me me!!! I was just looking last night! So I’m not that bloated yet but my lower tummy/pelvic area is very sore/tender. Because I’m a mom of a toddler and I work from home full time I can just wear stretchy pants. But I’d been making more of an effort and wearing nice work pants. Until yesterday. Omg they close but were pushing against by sore lower belly. I couldn’t do it. I need more, lots more stretchy pants right away. I loved maternity pants last time! But definitely not ready for that panel quite yet! I need some sweaters too. Should I just get maternity ones and stop pretending? I can’t bring myself to buy clothes that won’t fit in another month! In LA, our “winter” can last until May or June so I could be wearing light sweaters until then. Side note, I’m looking forward to all the pretty maternity dresses for the 3rd trimester timed right up with the hottest time of year!
  • So, I didn’t buy maternity clothes yet, but I did buy work pants a size up and with an elastic waist because the bloat has been so bad.I walked around for a week with them unbuttoned lol. I’m hoping since they’re pretty loose, I can make them work through May when school gets out for summer.
  • Without getting too Debbie Downer, they really screwed me up physically after my C-section, so I will probably look at least 5-6 months pregnant for the rest of my life.  So elastic/no-waist stuff is pretty much all I wear.

  • I just put a real bra on for the first time in a few weeks and YOU GUYS. Where did these come from 🤣 I’ve been living in sports bras and knew they were bigger but a legit bra really makes it real hahahah.

I’m with you guys - also super bloated. Been living in stretchy pants - I think I’m already retiring my jeans.
  • Hehe I practically live in leggings during Covid anyway, so not much different between pregnant and not lol.

My last pregnancy was less than a year ago, so I still have all my maternity clothes ready to go. If you like lululemon, no joke, the maternity leggings from Target are actually really great and feel like the lulu Align leggings, super comfy and soft! Other than that, I got some cheapo maternity stuff from Old Navy, dresses for like maternity shoot and that type of stuff from Pinkblush, and some clothes that were a bit higher end from Seraphine.

@j_ruth I don’t remember there being too much blood work after the initial workups, so that’s good at least for those that don’t like needles. BUT unfortunately, I will say, that was the biggest mental drain for me during my first pregnancy was the feeling of constantly being poked and prodded by doctors. I just felt always like my body was not my own - obviously you go through so many physical changes during pregnancy, you get bigger, sleep eventually becomes uncomfortable, there’s heartburn, gas, etc. and you just have to submit to doctors examining you, the feeling of the baby kicking (I found it very exciting at first but then extremely annoying later on - my baby CONSTANTLY had the hiccups in the womb and it was so annoying!! Haha) and of course, eventually giving birth, which you have very little control over. Overall, it was a big mental toll to feel like your body is totally out of your control. From week 34 on, I had two NSTs and an ultrasound every week, plus my regular appointments, so I had 4 appointments a week where I was being touched by doctors and I was really over it. It’s all worth it in the end though, of course!
  • I never put away my maternity leggings since I gave birth 14 months ago so that was handy. I did pull out a pair of maternity pants but they don't fit so great so I think I'll start doing some shopping soon.
  • @runsonanxiety whoot whoot!🥳🥳🥳🥳

  • @runsonanxiety 🎉🎉🎉 Yay!!!! It feels so good right?!!!
  • My mom got me a bidet attachment (off my wish list) for my birthday. My husband just installed it for me, I'm super excited to use it. I think it will be amazing with the pregnancy related hemorrhoids I usually get, as well as the I'm 9 months and wiping my butt is an Olympic sport time.

My friend has a fancier one that my 3 year old loves. She was highly disappointed that this one doesn't dry your butt for you 😂
  • @elle-0409 ahh exciting! Crazy the October board is up - I feel like ours is still so new lol!

On that topic, STM+, when do you start to feel more “comfortable”? I know the risk really drops after the first tri but is there a point before then that your worrying goes down? I know there’s always a risk but just curious.
  • @mk2022x I bought a home doppler, and being able to hear the hb when I need to is when my anxiety goes down. I usually can find it myself around 12 weeks.
  • @mk2022x I’m like @jhysmath and have a home doppler that definitely helps my mind!
  • @mk2022x I felt much better after the 8 wk ultrasound and then even better after the 12 wk ultrasound and tests.
  • @jhysmath @mokay19 good to know! Are they much of an investment?
  • Really depends on where you are.  I think it was going to cost like $1500 when I was looking into it, which included a few pre-birth meetings, presence during the birth itself, and a few visits after as well.  But locale and level of service is going to widely change those prices.  Most of the reputable doulas I've seen have a website which includes a list of what services they offer as well as the cost - it's usually sold as a package service, but sometimes you can customize which services you want (e.g., maybe you don't want after birth visits).

  • @mk2022x I think it was $30 but that was 4 years ago. I got it off Amazon. The sonoaline B I think?
  • I think someone was asking about the price of a doppler but since doula prices have come up also, I’ll just share that mine was significantly cheaper than what was mentioned above. It was only $850, which included two pre-birth meetings, the birth itself, unlimited text/call/email communication with any questions from the time I booked, they would come labor with me at home until it was time to go to the hospital, and one postpartum visit. And the doula company I used was super reputable, so prices can vary greatly!
