  • @mk2022x I think it was $30 but that was 4 years ago. I got it off Amazon. The sonoaline B I think

  • @theblondebump thank you for the commiseration. :) It's good to know I'm not the only one feeling a bit like a guinea pig in a science lab!

  • Lol.  Yeah I saw that article on Facebook earlier.  That’s like the best case scenario.  My son didn’t sleep through the night until he was 14 months old!  And I didn’t start getting time for myself until he was almost two. I’m sure they exist somewhere but I don’t know any mom who’s child stopped night feeding after one month.
  • Haha so accurate. I spend more time breastfeeding than any other activity in my life. Andddd DD is 10 months old and I’ve yet to have any free time lol.
  • @beccaneu Right?! We did a twilight feed from day one and even that didn't get us through the night. It easily took 4 or more months.
    DD 10/2019
  • We did a dream feed until DD could sleep for like 9+ hour stretches and that helped a lot. So I’d feed her before I went to bed at like 11 pm and then she’d sleep until like 5 am, that was nice.
  • My kids woke up every 2-3 hours until I night weaned around 15 months for both of them. Dream feeds only meant I got 2 hours from that feeding to sleep.
  • @jhysmath ugh! thats rough. I hope this next baby is as good of a sleeper as DD was. We were definitely very blessed in that department! She started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks.
  • @theblondebump I like to make sure people (fyms especially) know that night waking is normal and to be expected. So many people told me their kids sttn at a week old I was crying in the early days. With number 2 I just told myself night waking is to help prevent sids and its good for my baby to wake. It doesn't last forever and there's ways to manage. But so many new moms feel like their failing of their baby isn't sleeping through by a month old. Especially when all the mils and aunts start asking or saying the baby sleeps all night.
  • @jhysmath All babies are different. Mine was a terrible sleeper as a baby and still wakes up at least once a night. He’s so smart and incredibly advanced in a lot of ways and low sleep needs run in my family but not me so I think he’s taking after my very smart Grandma and her high achieving cousins who all barely sleep and have achieved great things. It’s crazy! But I’ll take it.

But yes. The more FTMs know the better. It’s totally normal for your baby to wake up a lot! For weeks and weeks! Or months. Or years. All babies are different. But learn what you can and then be prepared for anything.

Baby #2 I plan to just go in informed and control what I can control. If I can do something to make them more independent then at least if they are low sleep needs also, but can self soothe and put themself back to sleep when they wake up, I’ll be so happy.

@theblondebump I’m seriously thinking about renting a snoo (since we’re not planning on any more kids after this that seems like a better financial decision than buying one). I really appreciate your detailed description of it and your approach of very gentle sleep training. It’s right up my alley! ❤️
  • @jhysmath yes! My 14 month old still wakes up once during the night. I think he’s maybe slept through the night three times since he’s been born. My mil used to ask us all the time if he was sleeping through the night yet and it drove me nuts.
  • @jhysmath I agree to an extent… definitely at one month night wakings are normal haha for sure! Definitely all babies are different, but all parents are different too and have different ideas and opinions on what is right for their baby. Some parents are against sleep training of any kind and love contact sleeping and don’t mind MOTN feedings at all. Other parents feel the complete opposite. So I think “normal” depends on a lot of factors. There are some things that are completely beyond our control as moms, you can’t make every baby be a “good” sleeper, but also, at the same time, there are a lot of things parents can do to help their babies sleep through the night sooner. I think talking about those things is equally as important for FTMs. Early days, yep, we’ve all got night wakings to be ready for, but I think by a few months old, most (not all) babies are capable of sleeping through the night.

@magnolia209 yes! I think it’s so great they have a rental option! I have several friends that chose that route.
  • Things that suck...when the anasthetic from having my ingrown toenail starts wearing off.  Owwww....

  • @theblondebump I usually did the same with the dream feed. All I know is I'll never wake a sleeping baby. My friends believe in waking them up to keep them on their feeding schedule and that was a big No from me.
  • @whitta1015 lol fair! I never woke DD up in the middle of the night to feed but I will def wake her in the morning at her normal wake time and I will cut off naps at 2 hours to make sure she stays on her schedule. I’ve never been one to wake for a feeding though.
  • @theblondebump Yes! I'll definitely wake them from naps, but I'm trying to get that good sleep in the middle of the night. haha
  • Currently holed up in my office crying over how busy the week has been and eating sour gummy worms at 10:30am  :D
  • I follow way too many ig accounts that involve food. 🤮🤢
  • @theblondebump I 100% agree that there are things parents can do to encourage sleep. I didn't mind the MOTN wake ups until about 4 months when she would wake up every hr and wouldn't sleep unless she was on the boob. I'd put her down and she'd wake back up. I was miserable and was having a hard time showing up as the mom I wanted to be. She got booted from her bedside crib into her own room and I haven't fed her during the night since. There was some crying at night and I'd comfort her but I didn't offer food and within a few days she slept through the night. She'll occasionally wake up at night but she settles and goes back to sleep after a little snuggle. Props to all you moms who lasted much longer than I did! I'm not really looking forward to the night feedings again but I'm sure I'll be fine once the time comes🤪
