@paytonpedro my 4 and 3 year olds both had high fevers (103/104) off and on for about 2 days. The 5 year old lower fever for a few days. And the 18 month old no fever. They had body aches and a runny nose here and there. The first 2 days were the worst and then it was better.
Sorry you're still dealing with that. I hope everyone feels better quickly.
@paytonpedro she only had a true fever the one day, had a few days in the 99-100*, a little off an on cough - always worse when sleeping. Maybe a day or two of irritability. Was back to normal in 7 days (I kept a log for both of us out of curiosity)
@and_peggy and @anniemarie887 thank you both so, so much!! It’s just hard not to worry and I ended up calling the on call pedi line too. His fever was/is 103.3 despite giving Tylenol and I knew from past fevers that it should go down. But I was reassured that it was ok and to give ibuprofen/continue monitoring to be sure it comes down in 5/6 hours. Ugh. It’s going to be a long night.
@paytonpedro I’m sorry and I hope he is on the mend quickly. I should’ve said that the first go around. You know you can rotate Tylenol/Motrin every 4 hours - can work better for trickier fevers.
@anniemarie887 thank you! I did know that but it had only been 2-3 hours since I’d given the Tylenol so he had me give the ibuprofen a little sooner than I normally would have.
The fever broke in both of my boys and they’re currently tackling each other and jumping off the furniture again!
I'm working on exposure tracking at work for 4 hours. Basically tracking if any nurses were exposed to patients that later tested positive for covid.
In other random info I stayed a 16 hours shift yesterday. The whole day was holiday pay and then the last 4 were holiday plus 60$ extra an hour. Today however I am beat. I woke up so sick gagging making terrible wretching sounds but my stomach was empty so nothing would come up. DD said "mommy maybe after the baby comes you won't get sick anymore, and if you do it's ok because we are still family". Ugh I'm so lucky to have her. ❤️
@paytonpedro Sorry your little ones are sick, I hope they get feeling better soon now that the fevers are broken. @leahrnmom Wow, what a long shift. I hope you get some rest today and get feeling better, especially with all that love from your little one
We've finally caught covid from my kids' daycare, the 4 year old was the one who tested positive but has had no symptoms, while the 2 year old had fever for a day or so, and has been coughing off and on since then. Now they both have energy and are just home for 10 days until they can go back to school, we're both trying to work from home when we can and we just feel like we're going nuts. One silver lining is that the school I teach at won't let me come back to in person teaching in the same time frame since I tested positive so at least I can teach from home until my kids go back to school.
It doesn't help that DH and I were miserably sick/barely functional for a couple of days at the same time and I've been having terrible insomnia, probably due to a bad sleep schedule that I just can't get back to normal. I'm exhausted all day but when I try to go to sleep at a reasonable hour suddenly I just can't fall asleep. Does anyone have advice?
@geshem no advice as I have the opposite problem and could probably sleep 24hrs straight if given the opportunity. I hope you guys and the kids are all back to 100% soon!
@geshem oh no! I'm so sorry! I was wondering if everything were okay as I hadn't seen you post in awhile. I was literally up from 3:30am until 6:30am (passed out for a little while before having to get up for work) so I really don't have much in terms of advice for you going to sleep. I was doing really well taking two Benadryl at night (it knocks me out completely & helps with my allergies) but staying asleep is definitely a problem.
@geshem I feel you on the bad sleep schedule. I started taking unisom at night before bed. I still wake up easily, but I am finding it easier to fall back asleep. This morning especially since I didn't wake up until 6:53am and have to be at my school by 7:20! Ha! Made it on time since I made my lunch and laid out my clothes last night.
I sliced the shtttt out of my finger this morning. I’ve been taking aspirin for my blood pressure, which caused me to not be able to stop the bleeding for 3 hours. And because of how it is cut, any little movement would reopen. So I spent the better part of my day trying to handle that. Seems to be okay now but I’m not taking the butterflies off anytime soon. I probably needed stitches but I’m just too cheap 😬
@and_peggy oh noooo! At least this happened after you threw up into your hands... I once superglued my thumb together when I sliced it open and couldn't afford to go to urgent care or the ER for stitches. Yikesaroni.
@geshem as a FTM I can’t offer much advice on these boards, but insomnia I know well. Best advice I ever got was to get up - just for 10-15 mins - to do something that preferably isn’t on a screen, like solitaire with actual cards or reading. Yoga Nidra is a specific type of guided full body relaxation - lots of options on YouTube. Restorative yoga poses always make one person in class start snoring, typically the ones with legs on a bolster or up the wall. Relaxing scents - bergamot & chamomile or lemongrass for non-lavender options.
@and_peggy ouch!! I got myself good on a can of black beans once (que PTSD whenever I open a can now) and probably needed stitches but butterflies did the job! I hope they work for you, and definitely leave them on!
Today must have been cut your finger day. My 3yo got his dads razor while dad was shaving and took a chunk out of his thumb this morning. Lots of blood but very tiny injury.
@anniemarie887 thanks. Is that a specific thing? I've tried a few meditation type routines but nothing guided.
@paytonpedro thanks lol DH is the same and says he is jealous of my ability to just keep functioning when I'm tired but I'd like to be able to sleep too!
@darkrose88 aw, yeah, it's just been a really rough couple of weeks. I kept thinking just this will be over and then I can catch up on sleep/grading/life and then something else happened. I thought of taking Benadryl I'm just really leery of taking meds unless I really need them/off-label. If I continue having problems maybe I'll try it. Last night I stayed up half the night too finish grading and report card comments (again I kept thinking I'll have time for it soon and things kept coming up) and DH let me sleep in this morning which was very kind, but that all means I have no idea where my sleep schedule is now!
@bridgiebee82 wow yay sleep (and being prepared). Maybe I'll try it if it doesn't resolve once I'm a little less stressed out.
@and_peggy Oy! I'm glad it did stop bleeding. Maybe super glue would be a good option for you, but I don't know if you'd want to do it yourself vs. get a professional. Is it deep?
My son fell and cut his chin the other day in almost the exact same spot he did about 6 months ago, and at the time we had to take him to get it closed (they used super glue since they didn't have tiny enough stitches). I hope I made the right decision not getting him seen this time but it didn't seem nearly as deep as last time, and it stopped bleeding pretty fast.
@bridgiebee82@paytonpedro@maggiemadeit@geshem it’s not terribly deep. I’d say it’s on the border of stitches vs not. But if I could take care of it on its own, I wanted to try. After it initially stopped bleeding, I was able to close it with liquid bandage but that wasn’t enough to keep it shut and then it burned so I went for the butterfly instead.
@leahrnmom do you have a lot of staff out right now with Covid? My hospital has been bribing us with bonuses to come in for overtime. I picked up a couple shifts last week for holiday weekend pay with a $500 bonus for a shift and was so wiped and sick afterwards it was almost not worth it. The only time I’ve had real true “morning sickness.”
@sarahdaley11 we do have alot of staff out with covid. We have had a lot of patients who have been with us a whole pop positive as well. The pts maybe are getting ready for a nursing home and need tested and they're asymptomatic positive. They're offering us an extra 60 an hour right now. Sometimes I just pick up 4 hours like last night.
@starkette I hope you feel better! @leahrnmom@sarahdaley11 Thanks for all you do taking care of people. I’m sure it can’t be easy in pandemic times, and that much harder without all the staff you need. Hats off to you.
@wigglyicecream yes, I just saw that today! Having two BMBs behind ours makes me feel like this pregnancy is flying

@wigglyicecream they must have just added it today because I was stalking September yesterday lol. But same as @wisewitch222, time is not moving over here!
@maggiemadeit it’s not just bmb. I lurk the WHOLE BUMP. All of the forums. 1st Tri, 2nd Tri etc. i always check in on the TTGP women bc they are the most supportive women on all of the bump and all deserve three THB. I’ve even gone back and looked at my old bmb 🥴
Part of me feels like I’ve been pregnant for ages already but at the same time I also can’t believe I’m almost 10 weeks.
Also guilty of lurking on other boards.
