How are you feeling? Feeling much better. Thank goodness for antibiotics finally knocking out my sinus infection!
Rants/raves: Sorry for being mostly MIA the last couple of weeks. I feel silly saying that a sinus infection knocked me out, but it really did. The semester starts tomorrow so I'm also gearing up for that today. I have to decide this week whether I'm going to take another year of my assistantship or go back to teaching/find another job. I'm leaning towards taking the assistantship and just having to find part-time help for the baby - would probably make for a much less stressful first year. BUT we have to seriously consider finances! Otherwise, everything is feeling so real - my shower invites are out (hopefully we can still have it) and people are buying things for us off of our registry... can't believe we're halfway through January already!
Questions: When do you all suggest actually packing your hospital bag? I have a good idea of what to put in it but not quite sure when I should get it ready...
How are you feeling? Large. Gained a lot of weight while I was down almost two weeks with Covid. Now I'm working again on diet/exercise but I'm behind now so it's all uphill. I'm super sure I'll get the riot act in next appointment. 🙄 But honestly I'm quickly reaching no Fs given. I lost it all before, I'll do it again. I like walking and swimming when I'm not pregnant.
Rants/raves: Took today off for whole husband's travel debaucle and no daycare. Per usual before I take it off I'm all about how difficult it is. Now I'm like maybe one more day off before due date as I have no holidays off at my work before baby comes. Extra day off in late February early March is looking pretty good.
@fameonmain2 I'm super lax on bag packing because I'm 15 min from hospital and my husband went home a lot last time over the 3 days as he is very uncomfortable at the hospital. So I think earlier is better if you have a big trek to the hospital and it's hard to get back home, that way you can have time to make sure you have everything. I think I did mine at 32 Weeks last time with lots of wishful thinking as I was mentally done by then and wanted to need that bag even though it was super early.
@fameonmain2 Yay! Glad you’re back and feeling better! Also hooray for third tri! I didn’t have my bag packed when we went to have DD6 because she was early, so my hospital bag was just like a bunch of stuff DH shoved into a duffel bag while I had a panic attack in the car. He actually did a great job— he had the presence of mind to pack a thing of Oreos and some mini wine bottles lol but this time I think I’ll pack mine at 34 weeks just so I can have it there ready to go.
@rbflei I’m sure my OB office hates me but I get super irritated about my weight being an issue so I don’t look at the scale and I tell them every appointment I don’t want to talk about it lol I just can’t.

Upcoming appointments: The 31st for my glucose testing (yay for no longer needing to go in every week!)
How are you feeling? Good… Most days. Some days I just feel so huge even though my belly isn’t that big. I’ve been wearing my belly support band every evening which has been helping a lot but I caught myself waddling a bit yesterday. It’s too early for this!
Rants/raves: I bought a “Dear Baby” journal after my 6 week ultrasound and I knew at the time I would have a hard time keeping up with it and surpriseeeee I’ve had a hard time keeping up with it. I’m a master procrastinator. DD is 6 and I still haven’t finished her baby book. I’ve been better lately with the pregnancy journal but now I have to go back and remember what the first few months were like so I have something to write. And I just realized I can use these boards to refresh!
@fameonmain2 I had mine packed around 34 weeks I think? But I went to 40+2 so for me it definitely wasn’t necessary to pack it early.

How are you feeling? My belly has definitely popped more this week, which is fun! I’m pretty sure I’m gaining weight too quickly, but at this point not much can be done so I’m trying not to worry about it.
Rants/raves: It’s so fun to be on vacay! But my caseload is pretty high at work right now because so many evaluators are out with COVID, so it’s going to be really busy when I get back.
Estimated due date/ weeks + days: April 8 / 28 + 3 (what's up 3rd tri!!)

How are you feeling? You know something clicked where I just feel PREGANTE* all of a sudden. *misspelled on purpose- I just have a hard time getting comfortable in bed or on couches and I stand all day at work so by the afternoon my back is hurting from all the weight being pulled to the front. Really though I am feeling pretty good.
Rants/raves: WELL my son's birthday party had to get rescheduled for next weekend due to another snow. This is the THIRD snow we've had and it's only the middle of January! This is not normal at all.
Upcoming appointments: tomorrow with MFM for another scan then next week with normal OB to go over results, gestational diabetes test and do a check in
How are you feeling? So tired. Insomnia is bad and then I feel like I can nap at any time throughout the day
Rants/raves: My 3 year old, who has been so excited about tee ball, went to his first practice last week and completely shut down. Full blown tears and refusing everything. So I spent an hour hunched over trying to calmly talk to him while walking around the field. My body is sore from it sadly. I'm sure everyone thought I was being a pushy mom-ager but the second they all left my son hit the ball perfectly, fielded grounders fairly well and ran the bases. Wth kid?! He has asked every day since if he can play baseball with his new friends...
How are you feeling? Some heartburn, a little hard to get comfortable for sleeping, but overall pretty good. Definitely starting to feel the pressure of all the things that need to get done before the baby is born.
Rave: We have a dresser! It's from when my sister was a baby, and then she used it for her four kids. It has the three walls on the top to hold a changing pad (which I need to get to replace the old one). Excited to start getting gifts of baby clothes and supplies to fill it with!
Rant: Not a huge deal, but we had a pretty busy weekend, and next weekend is going to be even busier. I'm tired in advance.
Me: 30 // Hubs: 31 Married May 2019 Baby #1 due April 19, 2022
How are you feeling? Ugh... I've been sick for two weeks (not Covid, at least), and my two kids have also been sick. Not being able to take much for it is the WORST! Weirdly though, all of the coughing has been good for my low back pain, since it forces me to engage properly the way my physiotherapist wants me to (because otherwise coughing/blowing my nose/sneezing hurts my back)
Rants/raves: I just realized I only have two months left of work before I start my mat leave! (I'm going off around 37.5 weeks, to give myself a bit of rest) Oh! And I had failed by first glucose test by .1, so had to do the fasting one... which I just passed. Like, one of the readings was the top number in the acceptable range. So, I'm trying to be more aware of what I'm eating and when, because I really don't want the complications of undiagnosed GD
Questions: Anyone with experience with GD have any tips/snack ideas/etc. to share?
@fameonmain2 So many comments... definitely dealing with insomnia here (I've started waking my husband up for morning sex, since that is normally hard with two little ones lol)... also been MIA with illness, it's brutal when your pregnant! As for your question... tbh, I packed my bag when I was in labour last time lol. I knew what I wanted in it, but it was all basics that I didn't want to not be able to use. I don't necessarily recommend that though - I'd aim for 37 weeks.
@rbflei Ugh, sorry you're so low on time off... do you have separate buckets for sick v. vacation, that you could take a mental health sick day?
@aloha_mama I'm back in the office for the first time since Christmas Eve, and I have a definite waddle going
@monstera13 Yay vacation! How long are you off? Are you doing anything special?
@shlecks I feel you with how hard it is to get comfortable! I've been noticing that I just can't settle in as well, and when I do get comfortable, this little guy likes to shove his foot into my ribs lol
@robbenson Poor little guy, and poor mama! It's so hard when they need us and it's physically hard to get down to their level
@missa_lyssa I'm not going to lie, I kinda appreciate the lack of social obligations from being pregnant in a pandemic lol - I HATE busy weekends!

How are you feeling?: Super nauseous all day long. I feel like it's first trimester again but without the food aversions. And suddenly I have the insomnia. But my midwife is great and wants to be on top of finding a solution to the nausea so I'm not exhausted by the end of my pregnancy so hopefully something will work in the near future.
Rants/raves: I started a birthing class last week and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. I feel like it's giving me a really good idea of how I do and don't want to be supported during labor and the different things I would like to try. I am looking forward to our class this week.
How are you feeling? Tired, legs and feet threatening to cramp up.
Rants/raves: I put my maternity belt on today because housework and stuff was starting to give me a backache and man, that thing works. Compression stockings are also pretty great and I never used those with any other pregnancy.

Upcoming appointments: This week Friday— I’m meeting a new OB this time because I’ve started cycling through the team to make sure I meet all the doctors before I deliver!
How are you feeling? Much better than last week, but still scared and still exhausted. Today was my first day back to work after getting COVID and it really kicked my butt. My lungs feel painful/sensitive when I breathe— kind of similar to the sensation when it’s negative temperature outside and the cold hurts your lungs. I’ve been monitoring my blood O2 levels and they’ve been consistently at 99% so I know they’re working, but the pain like that is pretty scary,. If it’s still like this Friday I’ll definitely consult with the OB about it (even though it’s not his specialty I’ll sure he’ll have some insight or suggestions). In terms of pregnancy related symptoms… heartburn and lung pain is not a fun combo. 🥵 Still going so strong!
Rants/raves: I caught baby kicking on camera the other day! So bizarre to see your stomach just bulge out like that! Also when he’s not kicking you can totally see my anterior placenta pumping! So cool!!💙
Questions: Has anyone been experiencing hip pain at night? When laying on my side, I’ve been getting intense hip pain on the bottom hip that’s immediately alleviated when I switch sides. I use a thin memory foam pillow between my knees and ankles to align them but maybe it’s time for an actual pregnancy pillow? Any other suggestions that might help from anyone who’s experienced this?
@minnie_yoga_mama the lung/heart burn combo sounds like the worst. I would just wear a shirt that says I quit.
Try a small pillow or roll up a blanket and put it under your waist. It should help alleviate some of the hip pressure. Also someone I think in the random thread had a pic of sleeping with a pillow and the one they circled has been my go to. Have a pillow right behind you so you end up kinda on your back and kinda on your side, less pressure on everything.
@minnie_yoga_mama I have a body pillow that I put my top leg on so my hips are aligned and that seems to make a difference. So there is no drop of my knee or ankle to the bed, it’s all straight if that makes sense. I wish I could get one of those full body pregnancy pillows but our bed isn’t big enough!
@robbenson The same thing happened with DS4 and soccer last summer (when he was 3). Physically, he could do everything they were practicing, but he just melted down emotionally for the first 3 practices. Once he got used to the coach and other players, things went better.
@doula-mama It’s been really fun! We came out to Texas to see some of our old friends and DH’s family, who haven’t seen DS in years. We just tried to hit up as many people and yummy restaurants as we could! Headed home tomorrow.
@robbenson my son did the same thing at Tball for like 90% of the season. I'm sure all the other parents thought that I was just the crazy over protective parent who walked every base with him. In reality I think its hard to have everyone around the field staring at just them. Its a lot to take in!
@minnie_yoga_mama I get the same hip pain. Some nights its so bad that both hips end up unbearably sore after switching a bunch. I posted a picture of how I sleep in the questions thread that helps. I basically shove a pillow along my back and butt and then lean my weight into that. So I'm kind of sleeping halfway on my side and back. I find it to be fairly comfortable!
omg @shlecks I've never seen that version before. I'm sure that's what the tik tok was based on. So good!! literally crying laughing! DH thinks I'm an insane person.
ETA: he references the youtube video in the tik tok so yes that is what it was based on! lol!
How are you feeling? Omg the heartburn is intense. Like many of you, also struggling with insomnia but other than that, I'm feeling pretty good and am grateful I haven't had any major complications so far.
Rants/raves: I only have one more MFM appointment!! Been seeing them every month for Crohn's but they said things have been great so I'd be safe to see the normal OB for the rest of the pregnancy after just one more appointment with them in Feb. So grateful and excited to be so close to meeting our baby 🥰
Questions: Weird question and might have been addressed in another thread but any recs for underwear? I can't fit it my normal size anymore and I like the maternity underwear I got from Amazon but I usually wear thongs under leggings. Should I just get a pack of soft things that are one size up at this point?
@rbflei that's good advice - the hospital is about 40 minutes away but that's without traffic so I want to have most of it ready to go and with me. My ILs live next door to us so they can always bring up what I'm missing though.
@aloha_mama nice on YH to pack oreos and mini wine! I'm not sure mine would remember that ha. Also very impressed that you are even working on a journal... I haven't even taken a bump pic in weeks.... maybe months.
@doula-mama solidarity on the insomnia! Some days it's not so bad.. I'll just wake up and get my day started and that's that. But others days, like yesterday, I'm just tired all damn day. Not good for productivity.
@minnie_yoga_mama lots of hip pain over here but only when I lay on the couch, I think it's too soft and so my hip sinks too low. I guess the bed is firm enough that it doesn't happen so easily.
Upcoming appointments: I was supposed to have one today but I’m sick so next week
How are you feeling? I’m on the ups but I came down with something fierce Sunday. Third tri+flu symptoms are no joke.
Rants/raves: Kids+Electronics. We got a Nintendo switch and it can be nice when everybody is playing together and getting along, but policing it is already wearing me down.
@shlecks Omg I belly laughed sooooo hard at that video. 🤣🤣🤣 Just sitting outside here at lunch, alone, like a pragnente weirdo.
@aloha_mama I’ve totally been doing the same! I’ve actually been writing my weekly check-ins in the notes app on my phone before pasting them here so I can go back and reference for my pregnancy journal since it’s so hard to keep up! My mom got me a baby book called The Short Years— it’s an app you download on your phone and you fill out prompted questions every week that get auto filled onto pages that you can edit, and when you’re done they ship the pages to you to put in your binder baby book. So far it’s been soooo convenient and I like it so much more than handwriting a baby book and agonizing over not being able to edit any of my errors in them!
@dinomeetsjedi Sorry to hear about the nausea. I hope you’re able to find something that helps! I’ve been the opposite— no nausea since the 1st trimester, but the food aversions are still going way too strong. The other day hubby made chicken for dinner and I took one look at it and almost gagged. On Sunday we made sweet potato hash and I took one bite and actually did gag and couldn’t finish it.
@knitkiwi I’ve been really enjoying the “no show” seamless kind of underwear because it’s super stretchy. Victoria’s Secret has that kind and Amazon has some more affordable versions of them too.
Upcoming appointments: Gestational Diabetes Diagnostic 2hr test Friday
How are you feeling? Depressed and anxious
Rants/raves: Rave: Baby is doing well and we just got our glider so I can start putting the final pieces of the nursery together. Rant: Anxiety and depression are at an all time high due to testing positive on my 1hr glucose test. I have to wait a week for the 2hr test and in the meantime have cut out all sugars/empty carbs. Eating has become stressful and I've lost 3 lbs in the past 4 days despite eating lots. I've been told my weight gain is okay but it has been slow to come on (I've only put on 13-14lbs as of today). I've never been overweight and have always worked out but it seems my love for carbs and processed sugars has caught up to me. Just hope (if 2hr test is positive) that this goes away after pregnancy. My hubby and I really wanted to enjoy some dinners out before baby arrives but that won't happen anymore as I'm not going to spend the money unless I can indulge. Don't feel like going for salad.
Questions Anyone else struggling with their hormones lately? Or have experience with Gestational diabetes? My husband just doesn't understand how impactful fluctuating hormones can be.
@minnie_yoga_mama Yes, same here for the hip pain. For me it is only the left hip when laying on my left side in bed. I can only manage 5-10 minutes then have to switch to the right. My rmt says my pillow should be between my legs all the way to my feet and my knees should be level to eachother... this still hasn't helped me much but maybe it will work for you? I'm now trying trigger work during the day with a little ball.
Upcoming appointments: Feb 10 (I felt like I was having appointments every other week, so it is weird to have to wait this long to see my doctor again!)
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good. Insomnia, still. Glad I'm not the only one having a hard time of it. Getting comfortable while sleeping can be pretty hit or miss for me, and what feels comfy one night does not feel great the next. Oh well. I've had a little bit of nausea too, which makes me more annoyed than anything haha. I've definitely started waddling, and I'm just embracing it at this point. I also feel like an old lady every time I stand up or lean over. Lots of groaning haha.
Rants/raves: Not much really...enjoying feeling the baby move, but sometimes it feels more weird than it is amazing haha, but overall I do love it. My partner is freaking out a little bit that we don't have enough "stuff" yet for baby...but I keep reminding him that we are waiting for the baby shower, and that we have time. We honestly have little room as it is so I don't see the point of setting up the bassinet in our bedroom until it gets closer. But, it is amazing that I only have about 10 weeks left, since my OB most likely will be inducing me early.
Questions: Still considering my options for diapers (most likely going the reusable route...but still there's so many types!)...so I may be revisiting/refreshing that discussion topic.
How are you feeling? I was in the hospital for bleeding again over the weekend. Again everything checked out fine with me and the baby and no known cause. I guess it’s just one of those things that happens but it’s super stressful and traumatic every time it happens.
Rants/raves: I know that all of this bleeding puts me at high risk for preterm delivery but DH does not seem to have any sense of urgency about any of it. I guess if I go into labor in the next few weeks we will be in the nicu a while so that’s more time to get stuff done but 1) I don’t want that to happen 2) it’s going to be hard for H to get anything done when he’s single parenting two other kids if I am at the hospital all day (either on hospital bed rest or in NICU!)
Questions: No questions, but please send me all the calm vibes!
@covegirl100 Yes to the hormones. I don't feel hormonal necessarily, but if DH and I get into any sort of heated discussion I'm 100% bawling my eyes out which isn't typical for me. Luckily these conversations are pretty limited so it hasn't been too bad. Don't be afraid to take some time to yourself and really process how you are feeling. Some guided meditations (my favorite is Headspace) might help calm your nerves a bit. It's ok to grieve the (potential) change in plans that GD might bring.
@jessabelle05 I am definitely with you on the movements feeling weird sometimes. Right now the weirdest is when he rolls over. Those stop me dead in my tracks every time. Such an odd feeling.
@Ivorytower2 sending you all of the positive vibes! I'm sure that is so stressful for you. While I didn't have bleeding issues with DS5 we definitely had a lot of problems that were really stressful. Just take it one day at a time and focus on taking care of your body which will in turn take care of baby. Every day she stays in is a complete win for both of you!

Try a small pillow or roll up a blanket and put it under your waist. It should help alleviate some of the hip pressure. Also someone I think in the random thread had a pic of sleeping with a pillow and the one they circled has been my go to. Have a pillow right behind you so you end up kinda on your back and kinda on your side, less pressure on everything.

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow - gestational diabetes screening

Questions: nada

Questions
Anyone else struggling with their hormones lately?

Upcoming appointments: Friday
Questions:
No questions, but please send me all the calm vibes!
