Re: Weekly Randoms w/o 12.8

  • Remember anyone can create any of the threads outlined in our ***read this first*** thread!

I believe very few of us have been creating weekly threads. Maybe things will pick up next month after the holidays, but don't be afraid to create a thread even if you don't have anything to contribute to it!

  • Thanks for kicking this off @inthewoods23!  I’d actually thought about doing a UO thread today. Those are so fun to read!

We had a department holiday party last night and against my better judgment wore boots with heels. I regret that so much today! My feet are out of practice wearing heels because of COVID.  I feel so old, lol!
  • @sunshineandlemons lol I can’t wear heels anymore myself. Between the two kids and wearing my minimalist shoes…. I can’t even walk in heels. And I used to wear some serious ones!

  • Sorry I've been MIA this week. I only bump when I'm at work lol. My DS had a close covid contact last week, so we had to stay in quarantine. He's doing fine and his test came back negative. So we're back to daycare/work today. Trying to catch up but it looks like the weekly check-in is getting pretty long. Maybe we should split them up next week? Maybe even do 1 group a day? That way there's more activity throughout the week? Idk. That sounds complicated lol.

  • @LJMoon6 I debated that this week if I should break it out by week of the month. I don't think we've ever reached a 2nd page of comments, but we aren't having regular chatter in the thread either. Which could be from having so many people to respond to. Also I don't know if we're not having regular chatter because it's the holidays and everyone is generally busy this time of year.

Maybe we could do a poll to see what people would prefer?

  • @inthewoods23 just my perspective, but I am usually mobile bumping and it’s really hard to reply to multiple people with the app. I try to at least like a lot of posts but responding to everyone is difficult. Heck, sometimes I have trouble getting the dang comment window to expand to be able to type answers to the questions lol!
  • @sunshineandlemons yes I totally get you! I'm mostly mobile bumping now being in the office instead of WFH so it's hard to reply to many all at once.

  • @inthewoods23 I've noticed that TB boards have been getting quieter and quieter throughout the years. I don't know if that's just because there are other options out there or what? But also, my last BMB was slow to get organized and get a rhythm going. I think that's pretty common in most BMBs for the first couple months.

  • Oh no! Hope you guys stay negative too, @stardustskies! Also hope your husband gets to feeling better quickly!
  • @stardustskies - Oh no! I hope he gets better quickly and that you and your 3 year old stay healthy and negative!

@inthewoods23 - I think a poll is a great idea! I think its a combination of the holidays, busy season at work (at least for me) and so many people in the weekly thread. I like the idea of having it grouped by due date weeks - ie. we could do Fri to Fri, so July 1st-7th, July 8th-14th, etc... but that's just my opinion. Open to anything!
  • I totally didn’t realize anyone could start the threads. I also didn’t realize there was a “like” button for posts. There are so many posts on here that I appreciate, but don’t feel like I have enough info to contribute to. Will do better.

My husband come home from work today, gave me a big hug and very lovingly said “you are starting to look more pregnant.” He was quickly informed that is a phrase he is not allowed to use ever again.
  • @stardustskies - I hope your husband feels better and you and your son stay safe and healthy.
  • I’m not good at accepting help but today my cousin came over to help me do some cleaning and packing. My aunt then had dinner delivered to us. It was from a local texmex place that I’ve been craving and it was the most satisfying dinner I’ve had since getting pregnant!

@sunshineandlemons I was never big on heels but I’ve officially given up and only wear shoes with good support. Usually Sketchers
@stardustskies Ugh 🤞🏻 that you and your son stay healthy. How is your husband feeling?
  • Last time I was on a BMB was 2017 and we moved to FB within like a month. Lol 🤦🏼‍♀️
  • @melanier26 He's just going through phases. Mentioned to me today how weird the symptoms seem to keep changing. It's been since Monday so I'm hoping he will start feeling better soon. Thanks everyone.
  • I started writing up my weekly check-in yesterday and the freakin' office mouse ran into my room!!! I couldn't bring myself to stay and finish it lol.

@peppylilfoxy Oh wow. Moving to FB too soon can be a disaster! We didn't move to FB until just after our LOs were born. We did move to a private group on TB first though. I think that helped. Got to weed out any catfish.

  • Oh no this is the 3rd time in a week and a half I've had to lie or stay silent about being pregnant at work. I'm so f*cked 😂

I was in our kitchen/break room talking about how I felt so hungry this morning even though we ate super late last night and my coworker's bagel that he was making sounded really good (and so did a different coworker's bagel the other day). Got asked if I was pregnant and had to lie with a "no just very hungry" 🤦‍♀️.

  • I’m going to throw this in the randoms because there is no scientific evidence to it and it’s not really a wives tale, but I feel like with my first two kids their personalities on the inside were pretty similar to how they are on the outside.

My oldest was a super active baby before she was born… always moving. She’s been like that her whole life- she can’t sit still. We saw her wiggling at her 8 week ultrasound. My youngest wasn’t as active before she was born and seems to be more chill (she’s 2, so certainly could change). Just made me think about what this baby will be like. My youngest and this baby we couldn’t see wiggling at 8 weeks, so maybe this baby will be more calm. 🤷‍♀️ Any moms with similar experiences?? Just for fun?
  • @sunshineandlemons YES. My oldest was a very very active baby. I never had to do kick counts or anything like that. He was always on the move. And he is a very rambunctious boy, even still at 4.5
My now middle boy was very chill in the womb. He got the “most well behaved baby” award at his ultrasound checks because he’d just stay pretty still for them. He is a very chill child now.
I guess we’ll see how this one is. Personally rooting for the second option 🤣

  • @sunshineandlemons I agree! I had such an easy pregnancy with my son. No morning sickness, no heartburn, no medical issues- just all around smooth sailing. He was such an easy baby- no tummy issues, slept really well, only cried when he needed something and then stopped. Even as a 3 year old, I hear he's easy compared to other kids his age. We will see how this next one goes lol
  • Ok well.. my husband gave me covid. And we got into a huge fight earlier today about how he is refusing to stay in one place and just all over the house, coughing in my face, etc. And he just acts like it's no big deal!! I just got my positive test but this all happened earlier and he is one of those people that thinks it's just like a cold, and it's being exaggerated. I'm so mad because it's so dangerous for pregnant women (not to mention now I'll have to reschedule my new ob appointment) and he had the audacity to call me a stupid ***** and say that I've been treating him like an inconvenience all week! Like no, Covid is an inconvenience and I've been pissy all week because you refuse to keep your germs to yourself! And my chest hurts and I'm having trouble catching my breath and we haven't spoken to each other since this afternoon. I'm so sorry for the rant guys but I'm so mad and he just literally does not care.
  • @stardustskies damn I'm sorry! YH is an obnoxious jerk! My DH was like that too 🙄 feel better soon ❤️

  • @LJMoon6 yeah, it was a hot mess. Soooo much unnecessary drama!

@sunshineandlemons I never got to see my son's personality on the outside but I could definitely tell he probably would have been the same on the outside. I could tell with him on the inside that he had a lot of familial similarities. He was SUPER active (we joked that he was probably going to be ADHD like hubby and I) and always kicked when I was in music class with my students (my husband comes from a family of well established musicians- dad was a semirockstar and grandma was a violinist in the Winnipeg symphony and I was always involved in musical theatre and choir growing up). He had super long "piano fingers" when he was born. If the same on inside and on outside reigns true for this one we're screwed. It's gonna be a little hellion thriving on chaos 🤣

@stardustskies I would be sooooo pissed. I hope you get a mild version. I know someone who got it so bad he didn't even have enough breath to walk 5 mins
  • @stardustskies Are you able to take vitamins or zinc to help? I know those things are recommended typically but I’m not sure if that’s the case when you’re pregnant.
Also sorry your husband is being a jerk about the whole situation 😕
  • @stardustskies I’d be livid too! I hope you start feeling better quickly and you don’t get worse. Keep us posted!
  • @stardustskies - Oh no! I hope you don't get too sick and that it passes quickly! I'm sorry your DH is being such a jerk - I would not be on speaking terms with mine if he ever acted like that towards me.
  • Thanks for all the well wishes. Still feeling pretty crappy and waiting for a telemed visit with primary care this evening to discuss getting the antibody infusion. Just spending all my days and nights resting. My dad and stepmom took our 3 year old to stay with them until I feel better so thank God for them, I'm just hoping he isn't an asymptomatic carrier for their sake.
  • @stardustskies I hope you get better soon, I can imagine its a scary thing to deal with when you are pregnant. Glad your dad and stepmom were able to take your 3 year old so you can get some rest. Sending positive energy your way!
  • @stardustskies oh no! I hope it’s just a mild case for you, I would be pissed at DH too!

I have been so painfully nauseous for the past like week and a half. I finally broke down and made DH go by the store last night and they didn’t have any B6. So I DoorDashed some to work today and they didn’t have any either. WTF. DD also has some type of viral sickness with an upset stomach which she also passed to me so I am doubled down a little bit. But we are short staffed at work so I couldn’t take a sick day even if I wanted to. I had DH take her to urgent care yesterday to make sure it wasn’t the flu, it wasn’t of course. I am sure my coworkers are tired of me whining but the nausea is worse than my other two pregnancies combined this time.
  • @bearsandbeets7 I was surprised at how hard b6 was to find! I finally found some in 100mg tablets which I have to cut into quarters. It's so silly.
  • @stardustskies I’m so glad you mentioned cutting them. I accidentally got 100 mg and it didn’t occur to me to do that 🤦🏼‍♀️
  • I got my COVID vax booster yesterday. The symptom onset was a lot slower this time, which briefly tricked me into thinking I wouldn't have any.  Hahaha, nope.  It's nowhere near like shot 2, but booooo body aches.  About to crawl into bed early. Hopefully I can sleep it off any they'll be gone in the morning!

I'm hoping they'll approve a fourth shot, at least for immune compromised (including pregnancy) before my due date.  It would be such a relief to be able to get a shot towards the end and hopefully convey at least some immunity to the baby.

  • @skilouise that was my experience too with my booster, didn’t have side effects until around 24 hours later (just fatigue and body aches) and they went away with a good night’s sleep. Hope you feel better!

DD was born 3 weeks after we locked down for COVID on the east coast. I am praying so hard that I’ll get to have a halfway normal delivery and coming home experience this time. At the very least it will be summer so transmission should be down.
  • @skilouise and @creativesoul63 I'm glad to hear you mention that you got your covid booster and that the side affects weren't too bad. I am getting mine this Wednesday and this morning I was having a lot of anxiety about the possibility of getting a fever afterwards. But the risk seems low compared to the risk of not getting the booster! I am definitely getting more nervous about getting sick now that I'm pregnant. Trying not to dwell on worse case scenarios. I also hope that things are better in the summer when we all give birth.

Nothing will make you say bag-humbug like *finally* finishing your Christmas tree and a day later the strand of lights in the middle of the dang thing go out.

I should have known it was coming…I can’t remember the last time I actually bought a new string of Christmas lights.

@skilouise how soon did symptoms set in? I’m trying to time my booster so that it’s soon, but doesn’t knock me out for anything important within the next week. Hope yours ease up soon!
  • @twentythree19. I got my shot noon Sunday, and had some body aches when I woke up Monday morning. By Monday night, the body aches were pretty bad, and I had a headache. I also had mild chills *as if* I had a fever, but did not actually have a fever.

So far this morning, the body aches seem to have passed, and I'm just dealing with a headache and sore arm.

It's also worth noting that I crossed over, and got a Moderna booster after Pfizer for the primary series, as there is some preliminary data suggesting that combo might offer slightly more protection than a third Pfizer dose.  Not sure if that change would affect severity of symptoms one way or the other, though.

  • I am so nervous! I did my sneak peek test this AM and dropped it off at the post office. The tracking number has already been used! I did the self service because the line was really long and it never gave me an error or anything. I am so hoping it ships. I still emailed the company to see what they think and if they think they will still get it.

**TW- I bought it earlier this year and then had a miscarriage so didn’t use it. It’s good for a year so I figured I was good to go.
